2026 NFL Draft’s biggest first-round reaches revealed (4. Max Iheanachor, OT, Arizona State Sun Devils - Projected pick: No. 23 overall to Philadelphia Eagles .  6’6″, 321 lbs | 2025 stats: 0 sacks allowed.  Max Iheanachor did not put on a football helmet until 2021. He grew up in Nigeria playing soccer and basketball, moved to Los Angeles at 13, and eventually found his way to a JUCO program where a coach convinced him to try offensive line. Five years later, he is a projected first-round pick. That is either one of the most remarkable development stories in recent draft history or one of the most alarming price tags ever attached to inexperience, depending on how you look at it.  The athleticism is genuinely freakish. A 4.91 forty at 321 pounds, loose hips, light feet, and the natural body control of someone who spent years as a multi-sport athlete. When he shut down David Bailey and Romello Height in the Texas Tech game, scouts took notice for good reason.  But Iheanachor has racked up 16 penalties in three college seasons, still struggles to identify stunts and blitzes, and his run blocking ranks among the weakest in the entire offensive line class. These are not minor rough edges. They are the kind of foundational gaps that take years of NFL coaching to close. The ceiling here is legitimate. So is the very real possibility that a team burns a first-round pick on a project that could be a season or two away from delivering on it.) 6 NFL Draft prospects who are perfect fits for the Detroit Lions (Max Iheanachor, OT, Arizona State:  While Freeling is the option if the Lions keep Penei Sewell on the right side (which I think they should do), if they do move No. 58 over to his college position, that’s where Arizona State’s Max Iheanachor could come in — perhaps in the second round with the 50th overall pick. In 2025, the 6-foot-5⅞”, 321-pound Iheanachor allowed no sacks and 14 pressures in 484 pass-blocking reps, and as a run-blocker, he can demolish people inline or on the move.  Yes, lack of experience comes in here — Iheanachor’s family moved to California from Nigeria when he was 13 years old, and he was all about basketball until he graduated high school, when he enrolled at East Los Angeles College as a 240-pound tight end prospect once he caught the football bug. He didn’t become a big-school starter on the line until 2024, his second season with the Sun Devils, and there is an understandable developmental curve here, as well. But when you see the year-to-year improvements, and you understand how the movement skills Iheanachor developed in soccer and basketball transfer to the football field, this would be another investment in potential over finishing traits that could really pay off sooner than later.  Bottom line is, when you’re looking for offensive tackles in a generally underwhelming class, you have to pick your non-negotiables.) Top 10 players fans are mock drafting to the Lions (Not in the top-10:  Arizona State OT Max Iheanachor (17th, 0.3%) — Another fit with the Lions that mockers have going way, way later. Iheanachor (4.2%) is the fourth-most common pairing with the Lions for Pick 50, behind Illinois EDGE Gabe Jacas (42%), Texas Tech LB Jacob Rodriguez (16%), and Iowa OL Gennings Dunker (11%).) 2026 NFL draft: Mel Kiper's favorite prospects by position (Max Iheanachor, Arizona State:  Iheanachor should be a first-rounder based on his potential, but he's probably a second-rounder when it's all said and done. For those who don't yet know his story, Iheanachor grew up playing soccer in Nigeria and didn't start playing football until 2022. Four years ago! I love everything about his journey to this point and how he just keeps getting better and better. He's 6-foot-6 and 321 pounds, and he has 33⅞-inch arms. Iheanachor ran an incredible 4.91-second 40 at the combine, too, showcasing his quickness. Despite being new to the game, he started 31 games in college, and he went up against some good edge rushers at right tackle. The arrow is pointing up on Iheanachor.) 25 Best NFL Draft Fits For the Lions Ranked by Round and Impact (13. OL Max Iheanachor:  Some believe that Iheanachor may be better suited to play guard at the NFL level after playing tackle in college. Regardless, he has the size and strength to battle as a pro and held his own against some of the top defenses in college football last year.) 2026 NFL Draft top offensive linemen (8. T Max Iheanachor, Arizona State:  Incredibly, Iheanachor never played football until his enrollment at the Junior College level, previously playing basketball and soccer. What he was able to accomplish at Arizona State, given his lack of experience, was nothing short of incredible. Turn on the Texas Tech game – he went against David Bailey and Romello Height and held his own against them all game. He’s a project with immense upside.) This Round 1 is built for chaos: 10 bold predictions that could hit (6. Nine OL come off the board - This year is the "draft good players regardless of positional value" kind of draft, but I still think we're going to see a lot of offensive linemen come off the board. If teams are going to take swings based on potential, they're more likely to do it at premium positions, and this offensive line class has a ton of potential. Tackles like Georgia's Monroe Freeling, Utah's Caleb Lomu and Arizona State's Max Iheanachor could be superstars down the line with the right development, while interior linemen like Miami's Francis Mauigoa, Utah's Spencer Fano and Penn State's Olaivavega Ioane could be instant plug-and-play starters. Add in Alabama's Kadyn Proctor, Clemson's Blake Miller and Texas A&M's Chase Bisontis, and you get nine linemen in the first round, the most since 2024.) Best NFL Draft Fits for Arizona State OT Max Iheanachor (4-14-26):  https://www.si.com/nfl/draft/onsi/news/best-nfl-draft-fits-for-arizona-state-ot-max-iheanachor

2026 NFL Draft: Five Things To Know With Pick Day Approaching (I think the offensive tackle draft sequence is fascinatingly unpredictable
Francis Mauigoa. Monroe Freeling. Spencer Fano. Kadyn Proctor. Caleb Lomu. Blake Miller. Max Iheanachor. I expect all seven to be first-round picks. All have first-round worthy qualities and long-term starting potential, no doubt about it. All also have at least one legitimate drawback that might make an OT-needy team have real pause at taking them over the others. For Mauigoa, it’s arm length and run game range. Freeling is green and shows some balance issues. Fano has arm length and power concerns. Proctor has battled weight issues and has some eye-popping whiffs. Lomu plays too tall and light. Miller’s hands need work and he’s RT-only. Iheanachor remains much better in theory than on film at this point. What does that mean for the sequence? Great question. Nothing would surprise me, especially with Proctor and Freeling. I can see each being the first offensive player not named Fernando Mendoza to be drafted. I can also just as easily see either of them not being selected until the 20s. To quote Megadeth, In a dream I cannot see.  Tangled abstract fallacy.  Random turmoil builds in me.  I'm addicted, addicted to the chaos) (4-13-26):  https://football.realgm.com/analysis/3685/2026-NFL-Draft-Five-Things-To-Know-With-Pick-Day-Approaching

2026 NFL Draft Big Board: Offensive Tackles (6. Max Iheanachor, Arizona State:  Iheanachor is a football naif, coming to the game late but quickly making up for lost developmental time. Length, athleticism and strength are all readily evident. Soccer background shows in his nimble footwork. Still learning how to consistently use his length and when to attack as a run blocker. His ability to square his frame and stay engaged as a pass protector showed considerable improvement in ‘25. Rising star but still with some rough edges. Worthy of a first-round selection in this class. ) (4-13-26):  https://football.realgm.com/analysis/3684/2026-NFL-Draft-Big-Board-Offensive-Tackles

2026 NFL draft risers: Seven prospects climbing boards (Max Iheanachor, OT, Arizona State - Scouts Inc. ranking: No. 41.  How far he climbed boards: Iheanachor has likely moved himself into early Day 2 consideration as a projection player who has improved quicker than expected. He moved to the United States from Nigeria as a teenager and did not play football until he enrolled at East Los Angeles College before transferring to Arizona State. Turning point: The 6-foot-6 321-pounder started five games in his first season at Arizona State in 2023, but it's his complete résumé of 26 college starts that shows how far he has come. Scouts took note of Iheanachor's one-on-one work against Texas Tech's edge players last season, and he was consistently impactful in Senior Bowl workouts.  Why he rose: For some, the draft is about potential over production, and Iheanachor is still an ascending player who needs to smooth out some rough edges. But with his size, mobility (4.95-second 40) and 83¼-inch wingspan, he has the qualities offensive line coaches want in a tackle.  What they're saying: "I would mainly say [playing] defense, for real. Like, the slide in, boxing out, all that stuff. I feel like, as an offensive lineman, you need good feet ... I mean, that's one of the biggest standards." -- Iheanachor on how basketball helped transition to football in junior college) (4-13-26):  https://www.espn.com/nfl/draft2026/story/_/id/48443025/2026-nfl-draft-risers-prospects-freeling-thieneman-iheanachor

2026 NFL Draft sleepers: Why these prospects could rise into Round 1 (OT Max Iheanachor, Arizona State - On the other side of the tackle coin is Iheanachor, who is a bundle of intriguing traits. His background in both basketball and soccer means he has excellent foot speed for a man who measures in at 6-foot-6 and 321 pounds. His great footwork, active hands and overall athleticism are some of the best tools at the position in the class.  But he is still a raw prospect. He’ll need time to get close to his high ceiling. Teams may opt to do something similar to what Green Bay’s done with 2024 first-round pick Jordan Morgan. The Packers rotated him at both guard spots in 2024 before giving him more snaps at both spots in 2025 and adding time at both tackle spots. In 2026, he’s projected to be the Packers’ starting left tackle.  A team drafting him in the latter part of the first round this year could be looking for a starter at guard in the near-term with a long-term vision of taking over for an aging tackle on the outside.  Potential fits: Philadelphia Eagles, San Francisco 49ers ) (4-10-26):  https://www.usatoday.com/story/sports/nfl/draft/2026/04/10/2026-nfl-draft-sleepers-round-1-surprises/89306996007/

The Lions Should Draft This Guy: Arizona State's Max Iheanachor fits the Lions really well if they do things the way we think they will at tackle (4-9-26):  https://atozsports.com/nfl/detroit-lions-news/the-lions-should-draft-this-guy-arizona-states-max-iheanachor-fits-the-lions-really-well-if-they-do-things-the-way-we-think-they-will-at-tackle/

Top 25 Prospects For The Detroit Lions In The 2026 NFL Draft: If the Lions wind up with any of these guys, they had a good draft (18: Max Iheanachor, OT, Arizona State - Average Draft Spot: 37th.  AtoZ Sports Big Board Ranking: 40th.  The Beast Ranking: 33rd.  If the plan is truly to have Larry Borrom be the starting right tackle in 2026, then Iheanachor makes a ton of sense for the Lions. He could probably use a year to bake in the NFL, and that scenario with Borom would give him a chance to do that. Iheanachor is a solid athlete who is new to football, but he’s not Giovanni Manu. He took to Division 1 football like a fish to water. He just needs a little more time.) Which OT is the best prospect for the Lions in the 2026 NFL draft? (Iheanachor is also inexperienced, but his natural talent is just scratching the surface of what he can eventually become. He doesn’t get as much hype as the other names on this list, but there’s a scenario that some NFL teams may like his fit in their scheme and may value him higher than anticipated.) 2026 NFL Draft: This year's deep, talented OT class could make difference in keeping your team's QB healthy (Blake Miller and Max Iheanachor: More upside swings - Two players that have a real chance to go Round 1 but might not be household names are Clemson’s Blake Miller and Arizona State’s Max Iheanachor. Both of them profile as elite athletes for the position with a lot of room to grow for the future while still being capable players sooner rather than later. Miller looks like a player that could feasibly be on the left or right side of the offensive line while Iheanachor has one of the more fascinating backgrounds in this year’s class.  Iheanachor is still fairly new to the game. He didn't start playing football until junior college in 2021 where he was quickly able to work himself into one of the better JUCO prospects in the nation, before eventually manning the right side of Arizona State’s offensive line. He has prototypical size, length and athleticism and has shown in a short period of time that he’s been able to improve his play from a first-time player to someone worthy of a first-round pick.) 2026 NFL Draft offensive line rankings: Deep class has several 1st-round candidates to protect your QB (6. Max Iheanachor, Arizona State:  A big, long right tackle who came to football late and went to JUCO before joining Arizona State, Iheanachor can easily be labeled as a “project,” but his film indicates more polish and refinement than you’d expect. He has ideal size and is an excellent athlete who can stay balanced and latched onto his blocks. His hand usage got much cleaner and more patient throughout his final season, an indication of the way Iheanachor can adjust and refine his game quickly. I’m bullish on Iheanachor. He has the strength to move defenders in the run game and is comfortable taking on the better athletes in pass protection. He can stay on the right side but has the movement skills to bump over to the left side down the road for a team that continues to develop him. He’s an exciting combination of tools with enough real film that playing right away won’t be too much for him. — NT) (4-2-26):  https://sports.yahoo.com/nfl/article/2026-nfl-draft-offensive-line-rankings-deep-class-has-several-1st-round-candidates-to-protect-your-qb-181924091.html

Lions Draft: An offensive tackle prospect for every round (2nd round: Max Iheanachor, Arizona State - Iheanachor might not last to No. 50, where the Lions currently sit in the second round. The gap between the precocious Sun Devil and the next grouping is perceived to be extreme enough that a trade up might be worth it. Pros:  Impressive agility and directional burst for his size.  Fires out his long arms with decent hand placement.  Uses his inside arm very well vs. outside rushes.  Shut down Texas Tech pass rush impressively.  Very impressive leg drive and foot frequency in run blocking.  Engages in space with power pretty well.  Understands timing and leverage in duo blocks.  Showed considerable technical improvement in 2025.  Cons:  Very function over form with inconsistent footwork.  Rises upright instead of sinking his hips to anchor, at times.  Has only played RT, playing style is OT-only.  Limited football background, played basketball only thru 10th grade.  Gives up his chest too quickly on speed-to-power moves.  Has some snarl but it’s inconsistent) (3-28-26):  https://www.detroitlionspodcast.com/jeff-risdon/2026/03/28/lions-draft-offensive-tackle-prospect-for-every-round/

2026 NFL Draft Stock Report (Up - Max Iheanachor, OT, Arizona State:  The Sun Devils right tackle has been a consensus early second-rounder since his excellent week of practice at the Senior Bowl. Iheanachor is seen as a high upside tackle with good size, length, strength, and athleticism. However, he is raw and developing. Still, there are a lot of teams that like him, and Iheanachor has the potential to be even better with pro coaching. As a result, Iheanachor could sneak into the late picks of the first round of the draft.) (3/24/26):  https://walterfootball.com/draft2026stock_29.php

What I learned at the NFL combine: Detroit Lions buzz and draft targets (19. When I first began evaluating tackle prospects, I thought Max Iheanachor (pronounced Ee-han-uh-chore) would be available at Pick 50. In theory, he’d be an excellent draft-and-stash option in the second round to learn from Decker for a year before taking over in 2027. I’m no longer of that opinion. I anticipate a run on tackles. He went 23rd in Brugler’s latest mock draft, and at the very least, he’s starting to feel like a top-40 prospect. He crushed the combine with a 9.87 RAS (20th in history among tackles).) 2026 NFL Draft: Grading top 25 prospects at the NFL combine (Max Iheanachor - Measurables: 6-feet-5⅞, 321 pounds, 9-inch hands, 33⅞-inch arm length, 83¼-inch wingspan.  Testing: 4.91-second 40-yard dash, 1.73-second 10-yard split, 30.5-inch vertical, 9-foot-7 broad.  Grade: A+ -- Iheanachor, the wildcard of the tackle class, showed exactly why he's so exciting. Elite athlete, perfect tackle frame and exceptional body control. Nitpick the tape all you want, but he's only played football for five years. With NFL coaching, it's going to look better and look better quickly. No chance he makes it out of the first round now.) Prospects who tested themselves into first round of draft at combine (Max Iheanachor:  Iheanachor had already created some positive momentum through the Senior Bowl, but he continued on that trajectory while in Indianapolis. For some offensive tackle prospects, a team may have to sacrifice play strength, size or athleticism, but Iheanachor is the full package. While at the NFL Scouting Combine, he measured over 6-5 and 321 pounds, then ran the 40-yard dash in 4.91 seconds and looked good during on-field drills. The Arizona State product had actually been included in the first-round of my last mock draft, but will likely have wider representation following his workout.) 2026 NFL Combine Takeaways: Ty Simpson, Jeremiyah Love, Carnell Tate Drama and More (SPENCER FANO’S ARM LENGTH COULD SHAPE THE TOP OF THE DRAFT - Arm length is important for an offensive tackle, as teams want players protecting the edge to come in at 33 inches or better. When Spencer Fano’s arms measured just 32 1/8 inches, that set off warning bells. As I mentioned on Twitter before the offensive linemen worked out Sunday, many of the arm measurements at the combine are unusually short.  Max Iheanachor of Arizona State had an arm length of 33 7/8 inches at the Combine after measuring 34 ½ inches during the Senior Bowl. One year ago, Will Campbell’s arm length was measured at 32 5/8 inches at the combine before he hit 33 inches even during his pro day.  While Fano’s arm length will undoubtedly be longer during pro day, I doubt it’s going to be 7/8 of an inch better, so he won’t hit the 33-inch mark. This means some teams will move him from their tackle board to the guard position, and his draft stock will drop, leaving Francis Mauigoa as the only offensive lineman who projects as a top-10 pick.) 10 players who impressed at 2026 NFL Scouting Combine (9. T Max Iheanachor, Arizona State:  Iheanachor's performance certainly puts him in the first-round conversation. He ran 4.91 seconds in the 40 (1.73-second 10-yard split) and posted a 9-foot-7 broad jump at 321 pounds. His on-field work was impressive, showing off quick feet to go along with a solid punch.) 2026 NFL Combine O-Lineman Winners: Utah’s Spencer Fano Impresses as ASU’s Max Iheanachor Sees Dramatic Rise (Max Iheanachor/T/Arizona State: After his phenomenal showing at the Senior Bowl, Iheanachor had another sterling performance at the combine. His 40 time of 4.91 seconds tied Fano as the second-fastest of the day, one-hundredth of a second behind Logan Jones’ 4.90. Of course, Iheanachor is 10 pounds heavier than Fano and 22 pounds heavier than Jones after tipping the scale at 321 pounds. In drills, he was quick-footed and moved with balance and agility. He violently hit the bags with an explosive hand punch and looked good from start to finish. Iheanachor’s draft trajectory has been on a straight shot north since September, and it’s not out of the question that he lands in the late part of Round 1.) 2026 NFL Combine Recap: What You Need To Know (Arizona State's Max Iheanachor has been a fast riser since the Panini Senior Bowl and that hype continued in Indianapolis. All-Combine Team Offense: Who rocked Indy? Best NFL fits? (Max Iheanachor Arizona State - Best team fits: Cleveland Browns, Arizona Cardinals, Cincinnati Bengals, Detroit Lions.  When Iheanachor ran through his drills on Sunday, he displayed the fastest hip movements I think I've ever seen from an offensive lineman at the combine. The massive Arizona State tackle (6-foot-6, 321 pounds) doesn't have the quickest feet -- which is usually a leading trait I look for in O-linemen -- but he had incredibly fast hips. I know, it sounds absurd, but instead of gaining an advantage with light feet, as most premier tackles do, Iheanachor instead swivels at an absurd rate, then uses his length in combination with his strong, heavy hands to win. Watching him deploy this approach during the stunt-pickup drill was remarkable. If you combine his performance in Indy with what he put on tape during his college career, it's easy to envision Iheanachor becoming a reliable option for a tackle-needy team. He also tested extremely well: He ran a 4.91 40 (with a 1.73 10-yard split) and recorded a 9-7 broad jump, which helped him join a five-way tie for the top NGS athleticism score (90) among all O-linemen at this year's event.) 2026 NFL Combine results: 12 winners from the offensive tackle/guard group (Offensive tackles -  Max Iheanachor, RT, Arizona State (6-foot-6, 321):  Iheanachor is still very raw for the position (he didn’t start playing football until Junior college), but he’s such a natural athlete with unlimited upside that he’s positioned himself as a potential top 50 pick. His 1.73 10-yard split is wonderful for his size, and his 9.91 RAS was very impressive. Iheanachor presented a consistent knee bend, a square and upright form, proved to have a natural kick-slide from both sides, and displayed smooth and powerful lateral movement. His lower body moves quickly, and while he can be a bit labored at the snaps (especially on pulls), once he gets going, he’s a load to slow down. The natural pop in his hands is one of his best tools in a developing skill set.) 2026 NFL Combine Stock Report – Offensive Linemen (Up - Max Iheanachor, OT, Arizona State:  Charlie Campbell made a post about Max Iheanachor gaining momentum with his draft stock. Iheanachor continued his positive momentum with a great combine performance. He ran a 4.91 40 with a 1.74 10-yard split despite weighing in at 6-6, 321. He also recorded 30.5 inches in the vertical and 9-7 in the broad jump. Iheanachor then stood out in the on-field drills.) (3-1-26):  https://walterfootball.com/teams-see-caleb-lomu-as-a-late-1.php

10 Offensive Linemen Who Won the NFL Combine (Max Iheanachor, OT, Arizona State:  Max Iheanachor has been another ascending offensive tackle prospect who shined at the NFL Combine. The Arizona State blocker ran an unfathomable position-best 4.91 at 6-foot-6 and 321 pounds. Iheanachor's 9-foot-7 broad jump tied for third-best among all participating offensive linemen.  Iheanachor looked smooth during on-field position work as well. Iheanachor was born in Nigeria and began playing football at the JUCO ranks in 2021. He's made incredible strides in a relatively short period of time and used the combine to confirm his status as a potential fringe first-round pick in April.) (3-1-26):  https://www.si.com/nfl/draft/onsi/news/10-offensive-linemen-who-won-the-nfl-combine

NFL Combine Risers and Fallers 2026: Intel on the Offensive Linemen Who Stood out (RISERS - Max Iheanachor, OT, Arizona State:  Iheanachor entered this week fighting for a spot in the top 50, but he’ll leave Indianapolis dreaming of the first round. He checks the size and length boxes at nearly 6' 6" and 321 pounds with 33 ⅞-inch arms, and impressed athletically, too. Iheanachor tied for the fastest 40-yard dash in his group at 4.91 with a 1.74 10-yard split, and his jumps—30 ½-inches in the vertical, 9' 7" in the broad—were adequate. (Max Iheanachor - Measurables: 6-foot-5⅞, 321 pounds, 9-inch hands, 33⅞-inch arm length, 83¼-inch wingspan.  Testing: 4.91-second 40-yard dash, 1.73-second 10-yard split, 30.5-inch vertical jump, 9-foot-7 broad jump.  Grade: B+ -- Max Iheanachor has long been viewed as more powerful than athletic, but his testing suggested otherwise. He has made clear technical strides over the past year and has a legitimate case to be a first-round pick. His reaction time stood out during drills, particularly in the wave drill.) Stock Up/Down: OL (Stock up - Max Iheanachor:  Iheanachor staked his claim on a first-round draft slot. He ran a 4.91-second 40 (1.73 10-yard split) and posted a 9-foot-7 broad jump at 321 pounds. Scouts and coaches should have been impressed by his on-field work, too. He was fluid in movement drills and quick in his pass protection kick-slide, with a solid punch. He'll be a Day 1 starter at right tackle.) (3-1-26):  https://www.nfl.com/news/2026-nfl-combine-stock-up-stock-down-day-4-seven-offensive-linemen-on-the-move

Day 4: Offensive linemen (Who are the biggest risers from Day 4? Max Iheanachor, OT, Arizona State:  Iheanachor's measurables were a good place to start his day, as he measured in at nearly 6-foot-6, 321 pounds and a wingspan north of 83 inches. He continued on with a 4.95 in the 40, showing that athleticism throughout the positional drills. Iheanachor did not play high school football, so he's still very much a developing player. But the upside is impressive. I've felt throughout the process that Iheanachor could sneak into Round 1, and the combine has only furthered the notion that he could go in the top 20 picks. -- Yates) (3-1-26):  https://www.espn.com/nfl/draft2026/story/_/id/47978529/2026-nfl-combine-top-draft-prospects-workouts-risers-40-every-position#day4takeaways

2026 NFL combine: Top draft prospects, workout predictions (Give us your best prediction for combine week.  Reid: The buzz coming out of the combine will surround the depth atop the offensive tackle class. I currently have seven players with top-50 grades. Freeling (Georgia), Max Iheanachor (Arizona State) and Blake Miller (Clemson) currently have second-round grades, but I believe all three will firmly be in the Round 1 picture after this weekend. In speaking with multiple scouts and evaluators over the past month, there's no set order on when they're expected to come off the board, but tackles will be selected frequently -- and early.) 5 players to watch at the 2026 NFL Scouting Combine (Three other tackles to keep an eye on would be Alabama’s Kadyn Proctor, Georgia’s Monroe Freeling and Arizona State’s Max Iheanachor. Proctor was the bluest of blue-chip recruits and has freakish athleticism that will surface if he works out (though many NFL folks project him to flip to the right side or inside to guard). Freeling, meanwhile, has risen fast through this draft cycle, and a good couple of days in Indy could push him even further up in the first round, as teams continue to get to know more about him. And Iheanachor might be the class’s most interesting man—a Nigerian immigrant who starred in hoops as a high schooler, played soccer before that was convinced to pursue football, and went from community college to ASU and now the draft. He’s raw. He’s also wildly athletic.) (2-24-26):  https://www.thebiglead.com/5-players-to-watch-at-the-2026-nfl-scouting-combine/

2026 NFL Draft: Top 50 Prospects at the Scouting Combine (34. Max Iheanachor, OT, Arizona State:  A native Nigerian who grew up playing soccer and basketball, Iheanachor is a 6-foot-5, 325-pound investment for the future who seemingly just needs time to master the nuances of the position. His easy movement skills and natural power turned heads at the Senior Bowl.) (2-23-26):  https://www.foxsports.com/stories/nfl/2026-nfl-draft-top-50-prospects-scouting-combine

Top Prospects Lions Fans Need to Watch at 2026 Scouting Combine (Max Iheanachor, Arizona State:  This prospect is one of the more interesting evaluations, and he may have the most to gain from this week. Iheanachor is a gifted athlete, but some evaluators have concerns about his technique. With a good performance in the on-field drills, he could quell some of these concerns and make a push for a late-first round selection.) 2026 NFL Draft OL Rankings: Big Board, Tiers & Predictions (8. Max Iheanachor, OT, Arizona State:  Max Iheanachor has made tremendous strides considering he was born in Nigeria and began playing football at the JUCO level in 2021. He has an NFL-ready frame at 6-foot-6 and 330 pounds and he's both highly skilled and athletic. Iheanachor was outstanding at the Senior Bowl and is legitimately attaching a jetpack to his pre-draft stock throughout this process.) 2026 NFL Combine preview: 10 OT prospects the Lions should be scouting (Fighting for OT3 - Max Iheanachor, RT, Arizona State (6-foot-6, 325):  Iheanachor grew up in Nigeria playing soccer and basketball, moved to the United States as a teen, but didn’t start playing football until he was at a Junior College in 2021. Needless to say, he’s still raw for the position, and his technique/footwork is inconsistent, but he has the floor to win a starting role in the NFL and the developmental upside to become more.  With his terrific size and athleticism (his multi-sport past shows) on display at the Senior Bowl, he turned heads and likely changed some expectations. His balance and body control show up in pass protection, as does his foot quickness and easy movement in space. However, while he usually hits his marks, he can drift at times, making him susceptible to counter moves. In the pocket, he stays square to defenders, but his anchor can be too passive, leading to an inconsistent punch, though his strength helps him recover. His ability to pull, then latch-and-drive with power in the run game will be appealing in GAP schemes, but he’ll need to show he’s technical enough to stick in outside zone concepts.) NFL scouting combine's key players to watch: A pair of WRs, OTs and CBs, and will any RBs stand out? (Max Iheanachor, OT, Arizona State: I had to cut myself off at just two offensive linemen because everyone should be watching this whole class, including the Utah duo of Caleb Lomu and Spencer Fano, both of whom could help themselves by showing weight gains. But both are as athletic as they’ve displayed on film (I still prefer Lomu). Kadyn Proctor is a massive tackle prospect out of Alabama, with the typically associated positives (strength and overwhelming defenders in the run game) and negatives (sheer size limits his ability in pass protection against speedier pass rushers) for being so big. He can help himself just by having a good showing at weigh-ins. Iheanachor is a tackle who was a JUCO transfer and a late comer to football. He had a great week of practices in Mobile at this year’s Senior Bowl, and his film is more polished than you’d assume for a player who can easily get labeled as a faraway project. He has great size with real length and flashes like an explosive athlete. I’m already viewing him as a top-30 player, and if he has a strong week of testing to back up his rise over the past several months, then his stock could keep rising.) (2-19-26):  https://sports.yahoo.com/nfl/article/nfl-scouting-combines-key-players-to-watch-a-pair-of-wrs-ots-and-cbs-and-will-any-rbs-stand-out-000941584.html

2026 NFL Draft: Top 5 prospects at each offensive position (5. Max Iheanachor, Arizona State:  This is the position that will spark countless debates from now until draft time. Ultimately, the deciding factor for my OT1 was potential.  After those three, there's a drop-off in proficiency, but not in athletic traits. Both Blake Miller and Max Iheanachor are high-end athletes whose tools are easy to get excited about. They both fall into the more developmental tier, though.) 2026 NFL Draft Stock Report – (Up - Max Iheanachor, OT, Arizona State:  Iheanachor had an excellent week of practice at the Senior Bowl and really helped himself. As a run blocker, Iheanachor gets after defenders with power at the point of attack. With serious strength and physicality, Iheanachor will knock them back and reset the line of scrimmage with brute physicality. He has heavy hands, and defenders are in trouble when he latches onto them. Iheanachor can flat-out knock defenders off the ball and open up gaps for his back. As a pass blocker, Iheanachor has talent, but he needs development for the NFL. He is inconsistent and has issues with speed rushers, but in Mobile, he showed potential to be a solid edge protector. After his strong showing at Senior Bowl, Iheanachor looks likely to go in the top half of the second round.) (2/10/26):  https://walterfootball.com/draft2026stock_24.php

Which Senior Bowl standouts could the Detroit Lions target? (Max Iheanchor, OT, Arizona State:  Staying with the offensive lineman, nobody helped themselves more in Mobile than Max Iheanchor from Arizona State. He checked into the Senior Bowl at 6-5 and 325 pounds with over 34-inch arms. Most importantly, Iheanchor displayed some of the cleanest footwork that I've seen from an offensive lineman since I've started to cover the event in 2017.   On tape, Iheanchor isn't a first round caliber player but the flashes are there and it's worth noting that he didn't play football until he got to college. In high school, he was a basketball and soccer player and decided to just enroll for football at East Los Angeles College. After two seasons at the JUCO level, he found himself in the transfer portal and landed at Arizona State. From there, he's started 19 games at right tackle for the Sun Devils.  Despite his anchor and balance getting tested during the 2025 season, he rarely lost a rep in Mobile. He showed physicality in the run game, consistent footwork and he used his length to his advantage against pass rushers in 1-on-1 situations. There's no denying that the Lions have to consider an offensive tackle for the future. It'll be interesting if they'd consider a left or right tackle but if they were to plan on moving Penei Sewell from the right side. to the left side, I think they could plug-and-play Iheanachor at right tackle.) Scouts dish on Senior Bowl standouts: Could Nussmeier climb? (Max Iheanachor, OT, Arizona State - CBS Sports Ranking: No. 19.  What they're saying: "He's big and long. He can extend the pocket. Firm to anchor. He had a good week. He's talented.") (2-4-26):  https://www.cbssports.com/nfl/draft/news/2026-nfl-draft-players-climbing-draft-boards-after-senior-bowl/

Would you approve of this two-round draft haul for Lions? (In the second round, with the 50th overall pick, the Lions address the other side of the line with Arizona State offensive tackle Max Iheanachor. He was a two-year starter for the Sun Devils at right tackle, which is where he could play for the Lions should Sewell flip to the left side in the event that Decker retires.  Iheanachor is said to have huge upside. The downside is that he's viewed as more of a project, having spent his high school years playing basketball and soccer over football. The Lions already have a developmental offensive tackle on the roster in Giovanni Manu, who hasn't panned out through two seasons.  But Iheanachor's athleticism is legit, his physical traits are elite and unlike Manu, who never saw anything close to NFL talent at the University of British Columbia, Iheanachor proved himself at the highest level of college football.  "His range and play strength should translate to any run scheme," per NFL draft expert Lance Zierlein.  "Iheanachor’s pass protection fundamentals need work, but his flaws should be correctable with coaching and time. He’s not ready for early snaps but the measurables, athleticism and upside are worth a swing for a team with the patience to mold him."  Of course, if he's not ready for early snaps at offensive tackle and the Lions need someone who is, Iheanachor would be a risky pick in the second round. The Lions need plug-and-play upgrades on the offensive line to turn it back into a strength and reclaim their identity as a physical, downhill rushing team.) 2026 Senior Bowl Practice Observations: Caleb Banks, T.J. Parker Take Field in Mobile (Max Iheanachor, OT, American - Day 1 Update:  Max Iheanachor didn’t separate himself as much as some hoped on Day 1 of Senior Bowl practices. He was out of sync with his extensions and, at times, too liberal with his lateral correction, and got beaten multiple times in 1-on-1s as a result.  Iheanachor was better in team drills, however. With help to his left, he proved stalwart in pass protection and slammed an ill-advised jumper into the ground when that rusher rose to deflect a pass. His traits and physicality present clear appeal, but he has room to improve on his first action if Round 1 capital is the goal.  Day 2 Update:  After a first day where Max Iheanachor’s timing and angle acuity were out-of-sync, he came back with a big-time rebound on Day 2. Iheanachor’s light feet at 6’6″, 325 pounds flashed on Day 1, but he channeled that mobility profile with measured patience, clean sets, and precise hand application on the second day of practices, showing clear growth.  Iheanachor was particularly eye-catching in 1-on-1s, where his superior physical tools took center stage.  He latched and nullified Nyjalik Kelly with expert-level upper-lower synergy, and he was one of the few who had a handle on Derrick Moore, much to Moore’s chagrin. Iheanachor reached his depth quickly with a jump-set, squared up with Moore, and then suddenly swiveled and locked Moore out when he attempted the outside rip.  For those, like myself, who viewed Iheanachor as a potential late Round 1 talent heading into Senior Bowl week, Day 2 was verification that he indeed has that ceiling in the 2026 NFL Draft.   Day 3 Update:  Max Iheanachor was one of the most heavily anticipated Senior Bowl prospects after a standout 2025 campaign that saw him fight admirably against likely first-round pick David Bailey, even as others couldn’t.  Iheanachor’s first practice was uneven; he gave up hip leverage at times in pass protection, falling for angle manipulations from rushers and failing to strike with precision or timing. But Iheanachor noted his failings and took corrective measures. The result? He was one of the best linemen the last two days.  At almost 6’6″ and 325 pounds, Iheanachor was clearly the best pound-for-pound athlete in the entire OL group, and it translated down the stretch. With his light feet and nimble lateral mobility, he was able to effortlessly match and oscillate to initial rush angles, and Iheanachor’s anchor and strike timing drastically improved later in the week.  For a lineman who never played high school football, Iheanachor’s pass set is surprisingly clean and balanced, and he flashed the ability to generate movement in the run game with his explosion and length. Round 1 capital could very well be on the table for Iheanachor.) (1-31-26):  https://www.profootballnetwork.com/senior-bowl-practice-observations-day-1-2026/

Senior Bowl takeaways: One QB shines above rest (The American Team's offensive line also had a few standouts, including Florida C Jake Slaughter and Arizona State OT Max Iheanachor. Top offensive performers and draft risers from Senior Bowl practices (Arizona State OT Max Iheanachor:  Arizona State offensive tackle Max Iheanachor really started surging during the middle of the week in Mobile, showing out in one-on-one competitions and team drills alike.  The 6-foot-5, 325-pound tackle came out of the junior college ranks as a raw talent before honing his skills the last three years at Arizona State, including the past two as a full-time starter.  Reps like these from the Senior Bowl practices will have NFL scouts doing a deeper dive into his film, for sure.) Senior Bowl: DJ's top 10 standouts from practice week (Max Iheanachor:  Iheanachor looks the part at 6-foot-5 and 325 pounds with good length. The thing that stood out to me, though, was the continued growth I saw from him over the course of the week. He took to the coaching he received here and adjusted, taking a leap on the second day of practice. Keep in mind Iheanachor, who grew up playing soccer and basketball, didn’t begin his football career until 2021. He might just be scratching the surface of his potential. Senior Bowl Day 3 Standouts: First-round prospect dominates, while fast rising offensive lineman shines (Max Iheanachor, OT, Arizona State:  Coming into the NFL Draft process, Iheanachor is one of the more interesting prospects in the class. Offensive tackle is one of the weaker positions in this class, meaning teams will likely try to reach on a player or two. Iheanachor is going to be a big riser due to his athleticism, and the fact that he was late to playing the game of football.  He struggled during the first practice, but he turned it up the last two days. Two Senior Bowl offensive line standouts John Harbaugh should consider for the Giants in the 2026 NFL Draft (Arizona State OT Max Iheanachor:  The 2026 offensive tackle class has an undefined bucket of Day 2 prospects, and it’s unclear who will go first. This week in Mobile was the perfect opportunity for some of those prospects to separate themselves and lead the pack as potential early second-round picks. The one man who clearly separated was Iheanachor.  One thing that stood out was his length and his ability to use it to win. His success during one-on-one drills while at right tackle should have Harbaugh’s attention.) 2026 NFL Draft: 10 players who will rise up Trevor Sikkema's board after the Senior Bowl (Arizona State OT Max Iheanachor:  Iheanachor might have made the most money of any player in Mobile. The massive 6-foot-5 and 325-pound tackle prospect moved incredibly well at Senior Bowl practices, specifically as a pass blocker. He earned a 78.5 pass-blocking grade with just a 3.1% pressure percentage allowed while not allowing a single sack this season. He was very impressive in the one-on-one pass rush drills, especially on Days 2 and 3. He’ll get some top 50 talk after this week.) Senior Bowl 2026 practice standouts: Top performers at every position in NFL Draft showcase (OT: Max Iheanachor - Draft projection: Round 1/2.  I'm not sure Iheanachor got beat even once all week. Senior Bowl winners and losers: Jacob Rodriguez, Garrett Nussmeier rising (Winner: Max Iheanachor, OT, Arizona State .  A green athlete for the position, Iheanachor needed the week of NFL staff coaching to accelerate his development and improve his stock. Senior Bowl American Team Standouts: 4 Big Winners From Thursday (Max Iheanachor, OT, Arizona State:  Reps between offensive linemen and EDGEs are skewed toward the aggressor. Pass rushers always possess the advantage in those scenarios. Arizona State's Max Iheanachor apparently didn't get the memo. Iheanachor was excellent during the team period, scoring numerous takedowns against his opposition.  Iheanachor is a late bloomer, but there's no denying his raw abilities and impressive movement skills. Senior Bowl practices for 2026 NFL draft: Best QBs, prospects (Offensive tackle Max Iheanachor (Arizona State) has looked like an easy top-50 player with his power this week. The 6-foot-6, 325-pounder was a riser for me entering the predraft process, in part because players receiving a Round 3 grade based on historical grading were likely Round 2 players in this shallow class. 2026 Senior Bowl Preview: Offensive Line (Sleeper - Max Iheanachor:  Iheanachor is an underrated tackle prospect with the length and weight profile that scouts covet. He’s a mobile athlete who moves well laterally and goes forward rapidly in the run game. The former Sun Devil tackle played exclusively on the right side, and he’s a bendy athlete with all sorts of moldable techniques if he’s in the right system. 2026 Senior Bowl: Top NFL draft prospects, QBs, predictions (Max Iheanachor, OT, Arizona State. He played well against Texas Tech's Bailey-Height edge rusher duo and is a highly athletic tackle prospect. A former soccer and basketball player, Iheanachor's strong hands and light feet make him a prime candidate to shine during one-on-one pass-rush drills. He needs to get stronger as a run blocker, but Iheanachor is one of the best pass blockers in this year's class. He's viewed as a middle-round pick but could rise into the top 100 after this week. -- Reid) (1-26-26):  https://www.espn.com/nfl/draft2026/story/_/id/47706764/2026-senior-bowl-nfl-draft-prospects-qbs-predictions

2026 Senior Bowl Preview: Top offensive linemen to know this week in Mobile who have the chance to rise most in the 2026 NFL Draft (Max Iheanachor (Arizona State):  Of the entire offensive line crop set to participate at the Senior Bowl, Iheanachor has the biggest opportunity to rise. Blessed with an NFL frame with plenty of length, the former Arizona State right tackle has plenty of fans around the league. Iheanachor has the chance to leave Mobile as a huge winner this week, potentially catapulting himself inside the top 50 overall selections.) Senior Bowl 2026 Offensive Line Preview: Emmanuel Pregnon, Gennings Dunker Set the Tone (Max Iheanachor, OT, Arizona State:  This is my official pick for dark horse at the Senior Bowl among this group.  ASU’s Max Iheanachor has shockingly clean tape for a right tackle in the Big 12. Checking the boxes at 6’4″ and 332 pounds, Iheanachor’s two-point stance is ready for the NFL. He explodes into pass protection with clean feet and good load in his elbows.  You also see the big man’s athleticism on display, climbing to the second level in the run game.  At this point, he does need to make the most of his gifts by acquiring an elite punch in pass protection to match everything else. Bendy EDGEs can get the better of him. Still, he’s got everything you want from a Day 2 development tackle, and I wouldn’t rule out the left side.) Senior Bowl 2026 OL/DL Primer (Max Iheanachor, OT, Arizona State:  Max Iheanachor possesses elite athletic traits. He's raw and relatively new to football, so processing skills and general football IQ remain a work in progress.) Ole Miss vs Georgia: 10 Players To Watch (Monroe Freeling, OT, Georgia:  Monroe Freeling is capable of throwing a wrench into this unpredictable offensive tackle class. Freeling has remaining eligibility, but he could consider turning pro. The Charleston, South Carolina native has put three years of experience at left tackle on tape, and has only been credited with allowing two sacks this season.) These 10 under-the-radar NFL draft prospects could turn heads (OT Max Iheanachor, Arizona State:  Having never played football before junior college, the Nigeria native presents a unique profile for teams to assess after he focused on soccer and basketball growing up. As is to be expected, the 6-6, 330-pounder is lagging behind his peers when it comes to the finer points of the position. But Iheanachor has made serious strides in a short amount of time, earning second-team All-Big 12 honors this fall. With surprisingly nimble feet and the frame and power to displace defenders in the run game as a right tackle, he's the kind of project almost any offensive line coach would leap at the opportunity to take on.) Re-Assessing Draft Stock of Arizona State Standouts (Max Iheanachor: #220:  Iheanachor provides a tantalizing frame and eye-popping talent, especially for a player who just began his football career a handful of years ago.  Iheanachor is another player who has a wide-ranging draft stock, with some listing the right tackle as a day two pick, while others are adamant about day three or going undrafted.) 2026 NFL Draft Rankings: Offensive tackle - PFF (24. Max Iheanachor, Arizona State Sun Devils - Big board rank: 210.  Iheanachor came from the JUCO route and has worked his way into a starting tackle role for Arizona State. The 2025 campaign will be his second season as a full-time starter at right tackle. He has an adequate NFL frame to play tackle in the NFL. He possesses quick feet and is a good athlete, which bodes well for success as an outside zone blocker. In pass protection, his feet are quick to mirror cross-body moves, but he must translate that into protecting his outside shoulder better. He also seems to struggle with power, specifically due to a lack of natural leverage and an imbalance where his weight can be too much on his toes. Playing lower and more balanced will also help him become a more well-balanced run blocker.) (12-1-25):  https://www.pff.com/news/draft-2026-nfl-draft-offensive-tackle-rankings

3 Key Offensive Players For Arizona State Against Colorado (Max Iheanachor:  The senior right tackle has frequently been tabbed as an NFL prospect behind enticing physical traits, growth as an overall blocker, and a perceived high level of potential.  Iheanachor will be tasked with setting the tone on the edges of the line against a questionable Colorado defensive front, while also setting up QB Jeff Sims and Brown to be successful in the outside run game.  The offensive line as a whole is vital to the offensive operations, but Iheanachor stands out amongst the five starters.) Jordyn Tyson among 3 ASU players invited to annual East-West Shrine Bowl (How have Tyson, Elliott and Iheanachor played this season for ASU? Iheanachor has been one of the anchors in Arizona State’s offensive line at right tackle, starting every game even after exiting the season opener with an injury. He’s been projected to be a solid draft pick this year, even going in the earlier rounds in some projections.) Naming Underrated NFL Draft Prospects Out of Arizona State (Max Iheanachor:  Iheanachor had previously been mentioned as an underrated prospect at the tackle spot in a class that has questions behind Utah's duo of Spencer Fano and Caleb Lomu.  The senior has great physical traits, a strong sample size of being productive in pass/run protection, and could be had on day three of the draft - PFF currently ranks him as the 193rd player on their board.) Insider's 2026 NFL Draft stock watch: Risers and sliders after Week 5 games ft Chris Bell, Xavier Chaplin and more (Risers after Week 5 games - 1.  Max Iheanachor/T/Arizona State:  The Sun Devils came away with an important Big 12 victory over TCU, scoring 10 points in the final quarter for the win. Their well-balanced offense has been buzzing, and the offensive line has played incredibly well, with Iheanachor standing above the rest. The big right tackle has dominated opponents as a run blocker and in pass protection. He’s fundamentally sound and strong, and he flashes athleticism in his game blocking on the move. Entering the season as an early Day 3 pick, Iheanachor’s recent play has scouts believing he will end up as a top-100 pick in next April’s draft.) 2026 NFL Draft – Stock Report (Down - Max Iheanschor, OT, Arizona State:  Some have projected Iheanschor (6-6, 330) as an early-round pick, but Iheanschor has not been overly impressive. He might be more of a swing tackle backup for the NFL.) (9-16-25):  https://walterfootball.com/draft2026stock_03.php

The Most Vital Players for Rest of Arizona State's Season (Max Iheanachor:  Any offensive lineman would suffice here, but Iheanachor remains the individual player who receives the most NFL draft hype.  Offensive line coach Saga Tuitele stressed the importance of the line playing together as much as they do in their individual assignments - that became more apparent over the second half of the loss to Mississippi State.) ASU injury updates after OL Ben Coleman, Max Iheanachor among players who exited opener (After two of Arizona State’s starting offensive linemen, center Ben Coleman and right tackle Max Iheanachor, exited the season-opening 38-19 win over NAU with injuries, coach Kenny Dillingham updated their Week 2 statuses on Monday.  Coleman is expected to be good to go, while Iheanachor joins defensive lineman Justin Wodtly and wide receiver Jalen Moss as a trio of players whose availability is up in the air.  Iheanachor is viewed by some as an early-round prospect in the 2026 NFL Draft, listed at No. 41 on Dane Brugler of The Athletic’s recent top-50 prospects ranking.) 2026 NFL Draft Summer Scouting: Tackle Overview - PFF (Zone Tackles - Max Iheanachor, Arizona State
Strengths - Big frame that looks NFL-ready.  Light on his feet with fast lower-body movements, especially for his size.  Thrives on the move as a puller and in zone-blocking schemes.  Wide base with dancer's feet in pass protection to mirror cross-body moves.  Good effort player.  Weaknesses:  High-waisted build can get his weight a little top-heavy/on his toes for imbalance.  Dips his head when he really wants to push someone; he has some whiffs lining up in space due to this.  Three false starts in 2024 (afraid he'll get beaten by speed on the outside).  Fails to anchor due to a lack of leverage and pad level in his technique.  Scouting Summary:  Iheanachor came from the JUCO route and has worked his way into a starting tackle role for Arizona State. The 2025 campaign will be his second season as a full-time starter at right tackle. He has an adequate NFL frame to play tackle in the NFL. He possesses fast feet and is a good athlete, which lends itself to success as an outside zone blocker. In pass protection, his feet are quick to mirror cross-body moves, but he must translate that into protecting his outside shoulder better. Renner's NFL Draft position rankings: Top 10 OTs (Max Iheanachor - Player type: Athletic project.  Room for improvement: Attack angles.  Early grade: Late Day 2.  Max Iheanachor jumps off the tape with the twitch he plays with. He surprises defenders with his jump sets and can fight off poor initial hand placement with his ability to quickly reset. You'll go through a game of his and see a half-dozen or so reps that already look like a quality NFL starter.  With only two years of major college football under his belt (he started with two years at JuCo), Iheanachor can be forgiven for looking a touch out of control at times. If he reigns that in, he can start in the league.) Is Max Iheanachor An Underrated Draft Prospect? (7-15-26):  https://www.si.com/college/arizonastate/asu-sun-devils-football-nfl-draft-max-iheanachor

5 Sneaky Sun Devils who could be First Round Selections (5. Right Tackle Max Iheanachor:  I was deciding whether to go with Iheanachor or Left Tackle Josh Atkins. However, I went with Iheanachor due to his upside. Iheanachor is not as polished in his game, but NFL teams have shown that they love to gamble on upside. A successful offensive line is paramount in the league. Iheanachor reminds me a lot of Chargers tackle Rashawn Slater) (7-4-25):  https://www.si.com/college/arizonastate/asu-sun-devils-football-keith-abney-jalen-moss-jordan-cook
