(Remote possibility due to other options: T Francis Mauigoa, WR Carnell Tate.  Right after the conclusion of the 2025 college football season, you could have classified Francis Mauigoa in the same “highly unlikely” tier as Reese and Bailey, but the emerging presence of Monroe Freeling makes Mauigoa slightly more susceptible to slipping in certain scenarios.  While it appears the majority of the league prefers Mauigoa, who earned higher grades than Freeling in both pass protection and run blocking last season, the Georgia left tackle is objectively the better athlete. Freeling posted faster 40-yard dash and split times, higher vertical and broad jumps and also boasts longer arms than Mauigoa.  Freeling’s production is also difficult to argue against, as he allowed just eight pressures on 434 pass-blocking snaps last season. Being too stiff and upright in pass protection is also a recurring issue, and he can sometimes get too far out over his skis when run blocking. All have first-round worthy qualities and long-term starting potential, no doubt about it. All also have at least one legitimate drawback that might make an OT-needy team have real pause at taking them over the others. For Mauigoa, it’s arm length and run game range. Freeling is green and shows some balance issues. Fano has arm length and power concerns. Proctor has battled weight issues and has some eye-popping whiffs. Lomu plays too tall and light. Miller’s hands need work and he’s RT-only. Iheanachor remains much better in theory than on film at this point. What does that mean for the sequence? Great question. Nothing would surprise me, especially with Proctor and Freeling. 2026 NFL Draft: 9 buyer-beware prospects (T Monroe Freeling, Georgia:  Freeling is the hottest name in the offensive line class, projected by some to be selected as high as sixth overall by the Cleveland Browns. His athleticism has stood out recently, as he arguably had the best combine of any player at his position. However, some statistics suggest Freeling is still a work-in-progress.  First, we can address Freeling’s seemingly massive improvement in pass protection. He did earn an outstanding 86.1 PFF pass-blocking grade in 2025, which ranked seventh among qualified FBS tackles. That was an improvement over his 65.3 mark in 2024. Georgia’s passing game was heavily built on play action and screens, which allowed Freeling to partake in just 95 true pass sets all season. That ranked just barely among the top 200 tackles in the country.  Freeling earned a solid 75.4 PFF pass-blocking grade on those true pass set reps, but that pales in comparison to top tackles in the class, such as Francis Mauigoa and Spencer Fano. Utah star Spencer Fano is a popular player around the league, as is his teammate Caleb Lomu. Miami standout Francis Mauigoa also has his fans in the NFL, as does Georgia offensive tackle Monroe Freeling.  When it comes to Freeling, he is the offensive tackle I feel best about being the first off the board after my trip to Indianapolis. There is a growing sentiment from around the league that he is the surest bet to be a plus starting left tackle on the NFL level, which matters. When you compare him to the players he’s competing with for the honor, Freeling also checks the most boxes. That really is what this process is all about – having as few question marks as possible.  Fano has some frame concerns, particularly with his shorter arms (32 ⅛ inches) and underdeveloped lower half. Even before getting that verified measurement last week on his arms, some folks around the league were split about Fano’s best position, and whether he might thrive better inside at either guard or center. He consistently bends at the knees to control his movement, keeps his chest out, his weight low in his hips, allowing him to anchor at will, and throws strikes with power. When on the move, Freeling had a good shuffle, was speedy in the open field, and showcased his natural skills on pulls. His base did get too wide in some drills, leading to him slipping, but that could be attributed to youth at the position and wanting to prove his range.  Feeeling is firmly in contention with the next prospect on this list to be the third tackle selected in the first round, and the Lions could end up with their Taylor Decker replacement if he lasts until pick No. 17. Renner's NFL Draft position rankings: Top 10 OTs (Monroe Freeling - Player type: Zone OT.  Room for improvement: Overextending.  Early grade: Late Day 2.  Monroe Freeling was a backup heading into 2024, but by the end of the season he had snatched the left tackle job away from the incumbent Earnest Greene III. He's got that ideal tackle frame where it looks like he's a tight end who just had his sliders bumped up a little. There's not much bad weight on his massive frame. You see that show up with how well Freeling absorbs contact for a moderately sized tackle.  While the technical aspects of his game can be hard to evaluate given how much he was flipping back and forth from the right to the left side last fall, the physical aspect is obvious.
