DetroitLions.com (DeYoung: CB Jermod McCoy, Tennessee: With Holmes' best player available mentality, I think the Lions will take a cornerback in Round 1, followed by a tackle in Round 2 to add more competition along the offensive line. McCoy (6-1, 188) suffered an ACL tear that caused him to miss the entire 2025 season, but his 2024 tape was impressive enough to still be a first-round pick. He recorded 44 tackles, 13 passes defended and four interceptions. He also returned punts at Tennessee, which would be a plus for the Lions with the loss of Kalif Raymond in free agency. Adding a productive player like McCoy to compete in the cornerback room seems like a great fit for Detroit. Editor's Pick: T Spencer Fano, Utah: This would likely require a trade up, but as we've learned over the years - anything can happen in the NFL Draft. A strong offensive line is a big part of the Detroit Lions' identity, and this could be a situation where best player available lines up with need and they're able to further solidify the position. Fano has experience playing both left and right tackle at Utah. Because of Sewell's flexibility, the Lions could plug Fano into whatever spot gives them the best tackle tandem for the team. Note: Twentyman's pick is in a separate mock draft below.) (4-22-26): https://www.detroitlions.com/news/detroitlions-com-2026-nfl-mock-draft-freeling-mccoy-fano
ESPN Yates (17. Kadyn Proctor, OT, Alabama: I wouldn't put it past general manager Brad Holmes to be aggressive and trade up, especially with four offensive linemen already off the board in this scenario. At 6-foot-7, 352 pounds, Proctor is a massive player to fill the Lions' massive need -- they had the second-worst pass block win rate in 2025 (56%). He must be more consistent but has major upside at just 20 years old.) Walter football Walt (17. Monroe Freeling, OT, Georgia: The Lions became a powerhouse through their great offensive line play. That has changed, with one of the reasons being Taylor Decker’s departure. Decker must be replaced. Monroe Freeling is a reliable pass protector and a capable run blocker. He has good size and could become a left tackle in the pros. Other 2026 NFL Draft Possibilities: 1. Proctor, OT – Another offensive lineman who makes sense for the Lions. 2. Faulk, DE – We were told long ago that the Lions liked Faulk, but they have bigger needs now. 50. Gabe Jacas, DE, Illinois: The Bears have elite blocking, so the Lions will need as many potent pass rushers as possible to crack through the Chicago offensive line. Gabe Jacas is a strong and quick defensive end, capable in run support and as a pass rusher. 118. Malik Muhammad, CB, Texas: Cornerback injuries were a big problem for the Lions, so here’s some depth. .Malik Muhammad showed some intriguing athleticism at the combine. 128. Taylen Green, QB, Arkansas: Jared Goff is getting up there in age, so the Lions will have to find a young quarterback. Taylen Green has great athleticism and arm strength, but is extremely raw as a passer. Some teams believe he should move to receiver. 157. Pat Coogan, C: The Lions really missed Frank Ragnow last year, so they’ll have to find a new center. Pat Coogan is limited in athleticism, but he’s a tough run blocker who has been reliable in pass protection. 181. Nate Boerkircher, TE, Texas: The Lions may want a better backup at tight end in case Sam LaPorta gets hurt again. Nate Boerkircher isn’t much of a receiver, but he’s a terrific blocker. He’ll be a 25-year-old rookie. 205. Jaydn Ott, RB: It’s hard to imagine the Lions not adding a running back after losing David Montgomery this offseason. J Jaydn Ott is a versatile running back built for the NFL. He has great vision, but comes with injury concerns. 213. Tyre West, DE: The Lions will be interested in adding more pass-rushing talent on Day 3. Tyre West has a good motor and versatility, but he’s undersized. 222. ESPN Miller Final(17. Miller's pick prediction: Kadyn Proctor, OT, Alabama: One consistent piece of buzz I've heard throughout the pre-draft process was linking the Lions to Proctor as a seamless replacement for Taylor Decker. Said one rival scout from the NFC North: "That whole talk about moving [Penei] Sewell to left tackle was Dan Campbell trying to convince people they don't want Proctor." The 6-foot-7, 352-pound three-year starter had one of the best combine and pro day combinations of any player in the class to boost his stock. Another name connected here is cornerback Jermod McCoy (Tennessee), so watch him as a potential draft-night surprise. Fowler's intel: One team exec told me that Detroit has called around for a potential trade. Though these could be feeler calls, it's worth noting an offensive tackle run could happen early, with four possibly going in the top 15. And Detroit has an obvious need at one of the tackle spots.) Freeling is only a one-year starter, but his 6-foot-7, 315-pound frame (with 34-inch arms) and impressive lateral agility are traits worth betting on. 50. MLive Raven Final (17. Clemson OT Blake Miller: Brad Holmes could always go in a different direction. But when it comes down to it, the player I thought about as the top fit for the Lions, while filling a top need and being in the mix for best player available at 17th on their board, the answer was Blake Miller. For even more on why Miller was the pick, click here for a breakout post and video discussing the choice. Miller feels overlooked among the first-round offensive linemen. The Lions will love that. He’s also someone being tagged with the “high-floor prospect” label, like it’s a bad (or even accurate) thing. Miller is an NFL-ready, starting right tackle. For a team expected to be a contender, taking the most polished option always feels like the best course of action. “I think with Blake, you’re getting that, like you know exactly who he is,” ESPN’s Matt Miller told the Dungeon of Doom. “There’s not a lot of mystery with Blake Miller. There’s not a lot of, ‘Oh man, like if we develop him, he’ll be this.’ “He’s developed. He’s ready to go.” This is someone who started 54 straight games and leaves Clemson as the program’s all-time snap leader as a trusted team-voted captain. Miller missed only one practice in four years in college, due to wrist surgery, and he still isn’t over that day. “I had to miss a practice for that, which kinda sucked,” Miller said at the combine. Does that not sound like Dan Campbell-preferred toughness, durability and leadership? Heck, when asked what tackles he studies while at the NFL combine, Miller mentioned Sewell’s physicality, ability to finish blocks and that “his nastiness is awesome.” Miller is also a pure right tackle fit, with Sewell ready, able and willing to move to the left side after Taylor Decker’s release. With Miller in the fold, the Lions would be one positive left guard competition away from feeling really great about the future of their line. With all that experience, Miller is still just 22 years old. He’s more of a sure thing at tackle than Kadyn Proctor, and might already be at a higher point with his floor than someone like Max Iheanachor can reach. Miller measures 6-foot-7, 317 pounds, and is a better athlete than he gets credit for, too. He scored a 9.90 Relative Athletic score, with elite speed and explosion testing. It’s been tackle all the way for me in mock drafts, with the clear need tackled but mostly through the quality of the offerings there in the first round. The Clemson standout is my pick because he’s a clear fit based on play style, build and toughness. Miller also fills a clear need and is an overlooked prospect who has a higher ceiling than advertised. He’s ready to take over at right tackle out of the gates, with Larry Borom sliding into the ideal spot as the team’s extra blocker for heavy-set formations. Miller’s durability, size, toughness, leadership, athleticism, and not allowing more than two sacks in any season despite being a four-year starter speak for themselves. He might not be the sexiest name. But he’s a clear culture fit, has the talent and physical traits worth going in the middle of the round and is a solution to a roster hole.) MLive Woods Final (17. Spencer Fano, T, Utah: The Detroit Lions could go in many directions with this pick, as the organization has not tipped its hand under Brad Holmes’ tenure as general manager. Holmes and coach Dan Campbell focus on finding talent that fits the team’s gritty culture, making it hard to see them passing on Spencer Fano. Coach Campbell plans to move Pro Bowl right tackle Penei Sewell to the left side after Taylor Decker’s departure. Fano started three years at Utah under coach Kyle Whittingham, played right tackle the last two seasons, and allowed only three sacks in that time, with none in 2025. Fano’s strong pass protection and run blocking make him a good fit for Detroit’s need for a versatile lineman. He can play in different blocking schemes and contribute immediately, matching the Lions’ focus on competition and development. Fano truly loves football. At the NFL scouting combine, he talked about his family’s football background: his uncles Spencer Reid, Gabe Reid, Anton Palepoi, and Tenny Palepoi all played in the NFL. His cousin Karene Reid is with the Broncos, and his brother Logan, who played with him at Utah, is also likely to be drafted this year. “Shoot, I don’t remember a time that I wasn’t in love with football,” Fano told reporters. “My uncles all played football. All my cousins played football. I feel like I’ve loved football my whole life. My parents put me in tackle football when I was in kindergarten, and I played against third graders because I was so much bigger than the other kids.” Last season at Utah, Fano was named a Unanimous All-American, won the Outland Trophy for the nation’s best interior lineman, and was named Polynesian Football Player of the Year. “I just get to go out and hit people. That’s my job. That’s what I’m getting paid to do — go out and hit people. And I love it,” Fano added. Fano’s physical style and admiration for Sewell make him a great fit for the Lions. At 6-foot-6, 308 pounds, and only 21 years old, he brings needed youth to a line that’s getting older before Decker’s -- and Graham Glasow’s-- departure. Fano earned a 9.74 Relative Athletic Score, ranking 40th among 1,512 offensive tackles since 1987. He has elite hand quickness and is built for move-based blocking schemes, able to pull, reach, and get to his spots quickly. He works hard as a downhill blocker, but sometimes struggles with pad level and core strength as plays go on. Having played for a demanding coach like Whittingham, Fano should be ready to succeed right away in Detroit.) SI Flick Final (17. Monroe Freeling, OT, Georgia: The Lions released starting left tackle Taylor Decker, and coach Dan Campbell said at the annual league meetings that the team plans to move Penei Sewell from the right side to the left. That creates a void at right tackle, where Freeling has a chance to be a tremendous strong-side protector. Though he has only one year of starting experience, the 6' 7", 315-pound Freeling is long and ultra-athletic. Clemson right tackle Blake Miller is also in play for Detroit, but Freeling’s ceiling is too hard to ignore.) AtoZ Sports Forness Final (17. Kadyn Proctor, OT, Alabama: With the retirement of Taylor Decker, the Lions need to replace him either with a left or right tackle. There arguably isn’t an offensive lineman with more upside than Proctor, who thrives once he engages with the defender. He’s also a rare mover at 360 pounds, but he can get beaten around the arc. The Lions love athletic traits in players and Freeling has a 9.99 out of a possible 10.0 RAS (relative athletic score), which ranks No. 2 out of 1,519 offensive tackles dating back to 1987. He's got great size (6-7, 315) to go along with those athletic traits with plenty of room to grow. Hank Fraley is one of the best offensive line coaches in the NFL with a proven track record of developing talent. Pair that with the kind of size and athleticism Freeling has that can't be taught. It doesn’t hurt that he will be paired with offensive line coach Hank Fraley to help smooth out the rougher parts of his game. ESPN Kiper Final (17. Monroe Freeling, OT, Georgia: Freeling has a huge 6-foot-7, 315-pound frame and long 34¾-inch arms, and he can erase pass rushers with his quickness and handwork. His 18 starts of experience might worry some teams, but I'd bet Detroit would be happy to land Freeling in this range. He has a ton of potential, and the Lions were 31st in pass block win rate last season (55.5%). Because Freeling played left tackle at Georgia, Penei Sewell could stick on the right side, too. Freeling would replace Taylor Decker at LT, with new signee Larry Borom also getting plenty of reps. It'd be a key move in getting this team back to the postseason. 50. Walter football Charlie (17. Kayden Proctor, OT, Alabama: I’ve had the Lions taking a tackle a lot, and the odds of that happening increased with the release of Taylor Decker. I think Detroit will sign a cheap veteran, but target a long-term cheap solution in the first round of the 2026 NFL Draft. Proctor’s size and phy. Overall, Proctor played well in 2023 as a freshman. Except for struggling against Michigan in the college football playoff, Proctor was generally reliable in protecting Jalen Milroe in 2024 and then Ty Simpson in 2025. Proctor (6-7, 360) is a massive left tackle with a very good skill set of size, strength, length, and athleticism. Proctor is quick and athletic for his size, and that could be seen with him serving as a short-yardage running back during his college career. NFL team sources say they have concerns about Proctor’s weight. Sources say that Proctor has a lot of talent and upside. If he lands with good coaching and works hard, Proctor could be a star. 50. Gabe Jacas , DE, Illinois: The Lions need more edge rush talent across from Aidan Hutchinson. In 2025, Jacas had 11 sacks, three forced fumbles, one pass batted, and 43 tackles. Jacas (6-3, 275) played well for the Fighting Illini in 2024, providing an impact at the point of attack. In the ground game, Jacas has functional strength to hold his ground and get in on runs outside of his gap. Jacas is strong and quick in the pass rush, showing the ability to get after the quarterback as a versatile rusher. He had eight sacks, 74 tackles, and three forced fumbles in 2024. 118. The 6-7, 352-pound Proctor, an All-American in 2025, has as much potential as any O-lineman in this draft. He moves quite well for his size and is an explosive athlete, having vertical jumped 32 1/2 inches at the combine despite weighing north of 350 pounds. How many other guys this enormous can do a backflip like he can? His 5.21 40 is impressive given how massive he is. Alabama coaches I’ve spoken to are big fans of Proctor. He lost the weight last year that he was asked to lose, and a year before, when he tore his labrum in pregame warmups in their opener, he came back in the next game and played the rest of the season with it. “The guy is a giant of a man,” said an SEC D-line coach. “He can move whoever he needs to move. He’s got some freakish ability with just how strong he is, and how well he can move in terms of his agility. I’d guess he’ll be a right tackle in the NFL, but he might be even better as a guard — as long as he controls his weight. I think he can be a hell of a player.” “He’s a behemoth,” said a secondary coach who faced Alabama early in the season. “He’s so huge, but we kind of walked away and were like, ‘eh.’ Our guy got after him pretty good. Does he have the feet to play against a Myles Garrett or T.J. Watt? I don’t know. SI Fantasy Sports Morales-Smith (17. EDGE Akheem Mesidor, Miami: The Miami Hurricanes' stud defensive ends go back-to-back, with Mesidor being paired with Aiden Hutchinson on the Lions' line.) (3-7-26): https://www.si.com/onsi/fantasy/nfl/mock-draft-4
Fox sports McKenna (17. Francis Mauigoa, OT, Miami - McKenna: Taylor Decker is returning, so the Lions don’t have a glaring need at the tackle spots. But with the way they operate on offense, it’s important that they never have a glaring need at the tackle spots. So they plan for the future with a tackle that many have as the best offensive lineman in this class.) CBS Brockermeyer (17. Monroe Freeling OT: The Lions need to add a few offensive linemen with retirements and injury concerns surrounding Taylor Decker. Freeling is a long, athletic left tackle and one of the few true pure left tackles in this year's draft. He shows good feet and the versatility to play either tackle spot. A solid run blocker with a big frame and good hand usage, Freeling moves well in space and at the second level and offers a nice ceiling.) NBC Froton (17. T.J. Parker, EDGE, Clemson: T.J. Parker (6’3/260) delivered back-to-back impact seasons off the edge for Clemson, posting 51 pressures in 2024 followed by 11.0 Havoc Plays, 11.0 TFL and 5.0 sacks in 2025 Across both seasons he generated high-volume disruption with 92 pressures combined, equating to elevated pressure rates of 14.1% in 2025 and 12.5% in 2024. His edge setting took a year-over-year hit, with Parker logging 22 run stops in 2025 vs. 35 in 2024. Even as Clemson reduced his snap load from 640 to 548, TJP’s pass-rushing acumen made him a centerpiece of the Clemson front, solidifying his profile as a durable, pressure-oriented Edge with matching run-defense capabilities.) Athletic Beatwriter (17. Monroe Freeling, OT, Georgia: The Lions informed the league they’d be open to fielding calls and trading down. Perhaps the teams below us didn’t have service. Ultimately, the decision at No. 17 came down to Freeling and Auburn edge Keldric Faulk. Faulk might be Detroit’s type as a powerful pocket crusher, but you could argue the Lions need an edge with a more refined pass-rush plan. Considering the depth at edge in this class compared with tackle, it felt right to address the offensive line here, with left tackle Taylor Decker mulling retirement. No. 21 in Brugler’s top 100, Freeling (6-7, 315 pounds with 34-inch arms) looks the part of a franchise tackle and can really move in space. He’ll also have former Georgia teammate and current Lions right guard Tate Ratledge to help ease the transition. There’s also a chance Decker sticks around another year to mentor him. — Colton Pouncy) (2-20-26): https://www.nytimes.com/athletic/7055121/2026/02/19/nfl-writer-2026-mock-draft-wide-receivers-edge-rushers/
NFL.com Parr (17. Kadyn Proctor: With Taylor Decker contemplating retirement, the Lions can’t mess around and end up taking another step back on the offensive line. Even if Decker returns, Proctor could slide inside to guard and be a massive piece for Detroit up front.) NFL.com Freuland (17. Kadyn Proctor
Alabama · OT · Junior: Proctor (6-7, 366 pounds) is essentially the size of a refrigerator, and his run-blocking metrics are a style fit for this team. If longtime Lions LT Taylor Decker decides to return for Year 11, it stands to reason that Proctor could start out at guard in 2026, and then eventually slide out to tackle.)
