PFT (Giants at Lions - MDS’s take: The Lions are slipping after a strong start, but the Giants coming to town should make things easier.  MDS’s pick: Lions 28, Giants 14.  Florio’s take: The Lionsjj; could have won each of their last three games. They should beat the Giants, and it could get ugly.  Florio’s pick: Lions 28, Giants 17.):  https://profootballtalk.nbcsports.com/2019/10/24/pfts-week-eight-picks-9/

ESPN Week 7 NFL game picks, schedule guide, fantasy football tips and more (Giants (2-5) at Lions (2-3-1):  What to watch for: Ty Johnson should be the focal point of Detroit's run game after Kerryon Johnson's injury, and the rookie can both run through the middle or show speed to get to the outside. After seeing what Chase Edmonds did to the Giants a week ago, Johnson could have a big day in his first major role with Detroit. -- Michael Rothstein. Bold prediction: Saquon Barkley runs for 150 yards. The Giants' star running back should be healthier in his second game back from a high ankle sprain, and he's going against the league's 28th-ranked run defense, which allows almost 140 yards per game. But it's still not going to be enough for the Giants to get the victory. -- Jordan Raanan. Stat to know: Giants QB Daniel Jones is 0-3 with 566 passing yards, three touchdowns and five interceptions over his last three starts. It's a far cry from the 2-0 start to his NFL career, in which he threw for 561 yards, three touchdowns and only two interceptions.  Raanan's pick: Lions 26, Giants 16.  Rothstein's pick: Lions 31, Giants 17):  https://www.espn.com/nfl/story/_/id/27911398/week-8-nfl-game-picks-schedule-guide-fantasy-football-tips-more#nygdet

CBS Prisco (New York Giants at Detroit Lions (-7):  The Giants looked bad last week in losing to the Cardinals and now must travel to face a Lions team coming off two tough division losses. Detroit will regroup here as Matthew Stafford has another big day throwing it.  Pick: Lions 33, Giants 21):  https://www.cbssports.com/nfl/news/pete-priscos-nfl-week-8-picks-bears-suffer-another-home-upset-panthers-hand-49ers-first-loss/

CBS John Breech (Lions win 30-16):  https://www.cbssports.com/nfl/news/nfl-week-8-picks-odds-panthers-shock-undefeated-49ers-raiders-upset-texans-in-houston/

CBS Bryan DeArdo (New York Giants (2-5) at Detroit (2-3-1):  Two teams desperate for a win will face off Sunday at Ford Field. After two close losses, Matthew Stafford and the Lions' passing attack should have a field day against the Giants' 23-ranked pass defense. Saquon Barkley, however, should also be able to exploit a Detroit defense that is 28th in the league against the run. This game will come down to Daniel Jones and whether or not he can take advance of the Lions' 30th ranked pass defense. While I think he'll play well, I don't think Jones will be able to pull off the upset.  The pick: Lions 27, Giants 24):  https://www.cbssports.com/nfl/news/nfl-week-8-picks-odds-schedule-eagles-fall-to-bills-for-third-straight-loss-unbeaten-team-goes-down/

CBS Tyler Sullivan (Giants at Lions
Point spread: Lions -6.5 :  With the loss of Kerryon Johnson due to a knee injury for the foreseeable future along with Detroit seemingly having Lady Luck against them at all times, I think there will be a lot of people who fade the Lions in Week 8, especially with New York getting some legit weapons back into the fold on offense. While there is a case to be made for the Giants to pull off the upset, I don't see it happening here. I still think Detroit's defense is solid, Matthew Stafford should have his way against a poor New York secondary and should win by at least a touchdown.  The pick: Lions 33-17 over Giants):  https://www.cbssports.com/nfl/news/nfl-week-8-odds-picks-raiders-upset-texans-in-houston-patriots-dominance-continues-vs-browns/

CBS Jordan Dajani (Lions win 35-24):  https://www.cbssports.com/nfl/news/nfl-week-8-odds-picks-jalen-ramsey-and-rams-roll-in-london-cardinals-cover-in-new-orleans/

CBS Jeff Kerr (New York Giants (2-5) at Detroit Lions (2-3-1):   The Lions have lost three straight since their 2-0-1 start and appear to be sellers at the trade deadline, trading away team captain Quandre Diggs to Seattle while No. 1 running back Kerryon Johnson is going on injured reserve with a knee injury. Detroit can still sling the football and have two excellent pass catchers in Marvin Jones (30 catches, 387 yards, 5 TD) and Kenny Golladay (25 catches, 385 yards, 4 TD). Both receivers will get to go against a Giants pass defense that allows 8.3 yards per pass (29th in NFL). The Giants have a poor rush defense as well (131.4 yards per game), but the Lions only have Ty Johnson (3.6 YPC) and JD McKissic with the absence of Johnson. Detroit can easily score off New York, but it will have to be through the air. The Lions average 277.2 passing yards a game (sixth in the NFL). They should be able to but up big numbers against the Giants.  Pick: Lions 31, Giants 23):  https://www.cbssports.com/nfl/news/week-8-nfl-odds-picks-49ers-beat-panthers-to-remain-unbeaten-packers-beat-chiefs-without-mahomes/

CBS Cody Benjamin (New York Giants at Detroit Lions:  Both teams have lost three straight, but the Lions have looked much better doing so. They'll also be up against an absolutely porous defense at home. Don't get it twisted, Saquon Barkley will make plays. But Detroit is more refined as a whole.  Prediction: Lions 30, Giants 21):  https://www.cbssports.com/nfl/news/nfl-week-8-odds-picks-patriots-rout-browns-chargers-upset-bears-49ers-remain-unbeaten/

SN Vinnie Iyer's Pick (New York Giants at Detroit Lions
(Lions -7):  The Giants will stay in the game with Saquon Barkley having success to support rookie QB Daniel Jones. The Lions have limitations running the ball, so it will be easier for the maligned Giants defense to dial up a pass rush vs. Matthew Stafford. In the end, however, the outside matchups against Kenny Golladay and Marvin Jones Jr. aren't good for the visitors.  Pick: Lions win 24-20 but fail to cover the spread.):  https://www.sportingnews.com/us/nfl/list/week-8-nfl-picks-against-the-spread/94lpz3n73o6k1gllnqwhx315t

SN's Haslop (New York Giants at Detroit Lions (-7):  Speaking of bad NFC East defenses against solid NFC North offenses, the Lions draw the struggling Giants at home. The problem for Detroit is, statistically speaking, its defense is even worse than that of New York. Both teams are on a three-game losing streak, but they are trending in opposite directions when it comes to health. Most notably, the Lions are without Kerryon Johnson, and the Giants are bringing Saquon Barkley back to full speed. In a tight game, cleaner QB play will determine the winner. We trust veteran Matthew Stafford over rookie Daniel Jones.  Pick: Lions 27, Giants 23):  https://www.sportingnews.com/us/nfl/news/nfl-picks-predictions-week-8-bills-eagles-bears-chargers-steelers/1a565xk4xokmp1uwp9ekzwlxyv

NFL.com Rosenthal (Detroit Lions 27, New York Giants 21:  The promise of the unknown often exceeds reality. Daniel Jones' numbers (6 touchdowns, 7 picks, 5 fumbles lost, 18 sacks taken) look Eli-esque after five starts, with his glorious debut getting further in the rearview mirror. The Giants' offense is averaging 12 points per game since that Bucs win, with Jones' worst performance coming last week after finally getting Saquon Barkley and Evan Engram on the field together. The Lions' season also looked a lot more fun before losing running back Kerryon Johnson to injured reserve and allowing at least 430 yards for three straight bend-but-also-break games. That leaves me with the one known positive in this game as the decisive outcome: Matthew Stafford throwing glorious deep passes to his Inspector Gadget-like wideouts.):  http://www.nfl.com/news/story/0ap3000001068973/article/nfl-week-8-game-picks-vikes-stay-hot-pats-49ers-stay-perfect

NFL RealGM (New York Giants at Detroit Lions (-7): One reason why the Giants have a real chance to pull off the outright road upset win--Detroit’s pass rush is dreadful. The Lions have one sack in the last 141 opposing dropbacks, a string that goes back to the fourth quarter of their Week 3 ambush win over the Eagles. Their run defense is equally moribund, namely because LB Jarrad Davis continually guesses wrong and gets exploited out of position behind a DL that really misses injured starters Da’Shawn Hand and Mike Daniels. Yet somehow, QB Matthew Stafford--playing his best ball ever this year--will once again drag the Lions to a win, and New York’s leaky pass defense will be complicit in their demise.  Lions 34, Giants 30):  https://football.realgm.com/analysis/3202/Football-Meteorology-For-NFL-Week-8
