Grades:

CBS (Detroit 26-14 over Las Vegas - Lions Grade:  A-.  The Lions offense was already good, and now, it's even scarier thanks to the emergence of Jahmyr Gibbs, who put up huge numbers against the Raiders. The rookie running back totaled 189 yards, including 152 and a TD on the ground. The Lions were able to move the ball at will on a night where they piled up 486 yards of offense. The defense also looked impressive, forcing two turnovers while also sacking Jimmy Garoppolo six times. The Lions held the Raiders to just 157 yards, which was the lowest number they've held an opponent to since 2013. Although the Lions were good, this wasn't a perfect game by any means, they turned the ball over three times and missed a chip-shot field goal. FTW (5.  Detroit Lions - Last week’s rank: 6.  It was against the Dust Bowl deserted farm once known as the Raiders, but the Detroit defense truly played like a swarm of goblins, sacking Jimmy Garoppolo three times in four downs to squelch any chance of a come-from-ahead loss. NFL.com (7.  Detroit Lions:  After the blowout loss at Baltimore, I thought the Lions were poised to come out on Monday night and blow the roof off Ford Field. Instead, Detroit's drives repeatedly bogged down in Las Vegas territory, making the game a lot tighter than it should have been. Three Lions turnovers, including a brutal, 75-yard pick-six, also allowed the Raiders to hang around. Credit Aaron Glenn's defense for consistently harassing Jimmy Garoppolo; third-year DT Alim McNeill might be a Pro Bowler. Meanwhile, No. 12 overall pick Jahmyr Gibbs enjoyed a breakout game (189 yards and a touchdown on 31 touches), serving as Detroit's offensive engine with David Montgomery sidelined by injury. The Lions had to shuffle some pieces on the offensive line, but the results were great, as Gibbs and Craig Reynolds really carved up Las Vegas' run defense. Sorting out NFL contenders, pretenders entering Week 8 (Pretenders - Detroit Lions (5-2, 1st in NFC North) - Prisco's Week 8 power ranking: 8.  Oh no. The Lions were supposed to be the hottest team in the league, but they went to Baltimore and got down 28-0 before anyone could even blink. It tied the largest halftime deficit in NFL history by a team with the best record in the league this late in a season.  The reason I was questioning this squad initially was because of the injuries on defense (Chauncey Gardner-Johnson and Emmanuel Moseley). Issues in the secondary popped up this past week, as the Ravens had nine plays of 20+ yards in just the first half! That's tied for the most 20-yard plays allowed by any team in the first half since 2000.
