Walter football Walt (17. Caleb Lomu, OT, Utah:  The Lions became a powerhouse through their great offensive line play. That has changed, with one of the reasons being Taylor Decker’s departure. Decker must be replaced. Caleb Lomu is a tough blocker with solid potential. 50.  Gabe Jacas, DE, Illinois: The Bears have elite blocking, so the Lions will need as many potent pass rushers as possible to crack through the Chicago offensive line.  Gabe Jacas is a strong and quick defensive end, capable in run support and as a pass rusher.  118. Seth McGowan, RB, Kentucky:  It’s hard to imagine the Lions not adding a running back after losing David Montgomery this offseason.  Seth McGowan is a patient runner with great vision, but didn’t have many explosive plays in college.  128. Taylen Green, QB, Arkansas:  Jared Goff is getting up there in age, so the Lions will have to find a young quarterback.  Taylen Green has great athleticism and arm strength, but is extremely raw as a passer. Some teams believe he should move to receiver.  157. Pat Coogan, C:  The Lions really missed Frank Ragnow last year, so they’ll have to find a new center.  Pat Coogan is limited in athleticism, but he’s a tough run blocker who has been reliable in pass protection.  181. Last year it was C Frank Ragnow, this time LT Taylor Decker. With a statuesque QB in Jared Goff and an offense built on power running and play action, the cupboard must be restocked at once. Center Cade May was signed from Carolina but a major talent gap remains at Tackle.  Miami RT Francis Mauigoa is a plug-and-play option at an athletic 6-6, 335 pounds. He started every game of his three years at Miami, logging almost 1,800 snaps and anchoring the Canes' run to the NCAA Title Game. While some might quibble with Mauigoa's 33.25 inch arm length, the Lions have tackle Penei Sewell on a Gold Jacket career path with arms measuring 33.25 inches. Even if Larry Borom exceeds expectations, we imagine that Detroit would prefer to find a long-term answer via the draft. And after how much the offensive line’s dysfunction contributed to a lost season in 2025, why roll the dice on a replacement-level vet when there are potential answers abound in this first round? Miller (6-foot-7, 317 pounds) has an NFL-ready frame — he’s the same height as Taylor Decker and just seven pounds lighter — and had the highest athleticism score of any offensive tackle at the NFL Scouting Combine, according to Next Gen Stats. He showed steady improvement as a pass blocker over his career, with each season seeing fewer pressures allowed. In his final year at Clemson, he allowed 14 pressures and two sacks on 503 pass-blocking snaps. He has power when he gets his hands on defenders in the running game as well.  Proctor's tape had up-and-down moments during his final college season, as sometimes his foot quickness was overmatched by edge rushers. But the upside is immense for the 20-year-old left tackle, who started all 40 games he appeared in at Alabama. 50. Gabe Jacas, Edge, Illinois:  Certain players just look like they'd fit in coach Dan Campbell's program -- and Jacas is one of them. The most straightforward option for the Lions might be to move Penei Sewell to the left side to cover for the Taylor Decker divorce and then grab the best right tackle available. In this scenario, there's little question that would be Fano, an agile blocker built to counter the modern NFL pass rusher.) Walter football Charlie (17.  Kayden Proctor, OT, Alabama:  I’ve had the Lions taking a tackle a lot, and the odds of that happening increased with the release of Taylor Decker. I think Detroit will sign a cheap veteran, but target a long-term cheap solution in the first round of the 2026 NFL Draft. Proctor’s size and phy.  Overall, Proctor played well in 2023 as a freshman. Except for struggling against Michigan in the college football playoff, Proctor was generally reliable in protecting Jalen Milroe in 2024 and then Ty Simpson in 2025. Proctor (6-7, 360) is a massive left tackle with a very good skill set of size, strength, length, and athleticism. Proctor is quick and athletic for his size, and that could be seen with him serving as a short-yardage running back during his college career. NFL team sources say they have concerns about Proctor’s weight. Sources say that Proctor has a lot of talent and upside. If he lands with good coaching and works hard, Proctor could be a star. 50.  T.J. Parker, DE, Clemson:  The Lions need more edge rush talent across from Aidan Hutchinson.  In 2025, Parker had 37 tackles with five sacks and a pass broken up. Parker has had a breakout sophomore season for the Tigers, recording 57 tackles, 11 sacks, and six forced fumbles in 2024. The 6-foot-3, 265-pound Parker has solid size and quality instincts. In his freshman season, Parker posted 5.5 sacks and 33 tackles.  117. Mason Reiger, DE, Wisconsin:  Reiger is a good fit in the Lions scheme and he could be a nice rotational backup for Detroit.  123.  Seth McGowan, RB, Kentucky:

He beat Chris Johnson on an intermediate curl route with rapid plant-and-drive footwork and instant deceleration, tracked a back-shoulder ball perfectly in team drills, and showed resolute focus and coordination working in congestion.  Day 2 Update:  The Senior Bowl is important for a lot of reasons, but one of the chief reasons is seeing prospects’ move set in-person. Few prospects, in that regard, have been more impressive than Reggie Virgil.  At 6’2 3/8″ and 188 pounds, Virgil’s wiry build and long speed stand out immediately, but just as eye-catching has been his lateral range on releases, fluidity on breaks, and deceleration capacity at the top of routes.  On Wednesday, he beat Hezekiah Masses deep for a completion in 1-on-1s, using a springy split release to bait Masses into over-setting, before sealing the deal with a late lean to gain space. And in team drills, his curvilinear acceleration and keen zone vision made him a consistently available target.  Day 3 Update:  Reggie Virgil showed out across the first two days, but his third day was nothing short of a disaster. Virgil didn’t look nearly as fluid or coordinated on his route breaks, and he dropped almost every pass that came his way. Even in warm-ups, it was clear he was out of sorts.  This might be a day that evaluators decide to “burn the tape” on for Virgil. He’s shown he can play at a high level before, but Thursday was a bad day for him, and it snowballed when he lost his composure early.
