Re-drafting every first-round pick from 2023 NFL Draft (12. Detroit Lions: LB Tuli Tuipulotu - Actual pick: RB Jahmyr Gibbs.  The original pick, Jahmyr Gibbs, and even a cornerback were options here, but I went with a bookend edge rusher for Aidan Hutchinson along the defensive line. Tuipulotu was a favorite coming out of college, but the big question was where would he line up? On the edge, he has been a game-wrecker, at times, for the Chargers.  18. Detroit Lions: RB Jahmyr Gibbs - Actual pick: LB Jack Campbell.  Originally the Lions' No. 12 pick, Gibbs is still on the board. I gave some consideration to taking TE Sam LaPorta here because he's been so important to the offense, but I gave the slight edge to Gibbs because of his versatility as both a runner and a receiver.):  https://www.cbssports.com/nfl/news/redrafting-every-first-round-pick-from-2023-nfl-draft-going-through-all-31-selections-3-months-into-season/

Ranking the NFL's top 12 most valuable quarterbacks of the 2023 season (9. JARED GOFF, DETROIT LIONS - Wins above replacement: 1.93.  Two of Goff's three worst performances have come in the past three weeks, but he is still on track for his highest-graded season since 2018 — when he went to the Super Bowl with the Los Angeles Rams.):  https://www.pff.com/news/nfl-ranking-the-nfls-top-12-most-valuable-quarterbacks-of-the-2023-season

NFL FACT OR FICTION: Eagles = NFC team to beat? Jalen Hurts the MVP front-runner? Broncos for real? (6. The NFC North has three playoff teams.  Fiction. Detroit (8-3) will make it, though my "Lions will get the No. 1 seed" take sure hit a major bump in the road with the Thanksgiving disaster against Green Bay. Still, I have Detroit taking the NFC North crown.  Meanwhile, Minnesota just dropped to 6-6 with a crushing home loss to the lowly Bears on Monday night. Still, I think Justin Jefferson will indeed return to action following the Week 13 bye, and this could allow the Vikings -- who currently sit in the No. 7 seed -- to lock up a wild-card spot. But that's it. Two teams -- MAX -- from the NFC North.  So, what about the 5-6 Packers, currently the first squad out of the NFC playoff field? I'm just not seeing it. Matt LaFleur and Jordan Love deserve credit for weathering a midseason storm and coming out on the other end, with the first-year starter looking like a franchise quarterback over the past two weeks. But I'm not sure I can trust that to continue over the next six weeks. Shoot, this coming Sunday night, Green Bay hosts Kansas City. Even in the comfy confines of Lambeau Field, that's a TOUGH spot -- especially for Love, going against a stifling K.C. defense.  I like the Rams' chances of nabbing a wild-card slot despite Green Bay currently holding the head-to-head tiebreaker. Matthew Stafford is back. That's everything. Sean McVay and Co. are ready to roll. And I definitely wouldn't eliminate the Seahawks (6-5), who currently own the No. 6 seed. Even with all the injuries and the tough remaining schedule, I still value Pete Carroll at this time of year.):  https://www.nfl.com/news/nfl-fact-or-fiction-eagles-nfc-team-to-beat-jalen-hurts-the-mvp-front-runner-bro

NFL RB Index, Week 13: Three running backs who can save their teams' seasons (7.  David Montgomery
Detroit Lions · Year 5 (2023 stats: 8 games | 133 att | 648 rush yds | 4.9 ypc | 9 rush TD | 8 rec | 88 rec yds | 0 rec TD | 1 fumble lost):  David Montgomery has been exceptional for the Lions since their Week 9 bye. In his last three games, the veteran has averaged 13 carries and 87 rush yards per game – that’s 6.7 yards per attempt(!) – with three rush touchdowns. With Jared Goff working through major turnover issues, Montgomery (along with rookie running back Jahmyr Gibbs) has been a constant and helped the Lions average over 30 points per game in that stretch.):  https://www.nfl.com/news/nfl-rb-index-week-13-three-running-backs-who-can-save-their-teams-seasons

One thing we learned about each NFL team in Week 12 (Detroit Lions:  Overaggressiveness on fourth down cost them: Dan Campbell went for it five times on fourth down against the Packers and the Lions dug themselves to a 20-6 hole, and didn't convert any of them until the game was basically decided with under three minutes to play. The Lions went for it on fourth-and-4 from the Packers' 35 in a 20-6 game, but rushed to get the play off before the two-minute warning (they didn't have to), which led to an incomplete pass. They decided to run a fake punt on their own 23-yard line midway through the third quarter in a 23-14 game and failed to gain a yard (the Packers scored a touchdown on the short field to make it 29-14). They also failed to convert a fourth-and-7 on the Packers' 12 to keep the deficit at 29-14. The Lions are the most aggressive team on fourth down in the NFL, but that actually backfired this week.):  https://www.cbssports.com/nfl/news/one-thing-we-learned-about-each-nfl-team-in-week-12-dak-prescott-looks-like-mvp-chiefs-fix-biggest-weakness/

Goff: Lions Don’t Ride the Roller Coaster:  https://www.si.com/nfl/lions/news/goff-lions-dont-ride-roller-coaster

Grading all 31 first-round picks after Week 12 of the 2023 NFL season (PICK NO. 12: DETROIT LIONS: RB JAHMYR GIBBS - Overall Rookie Grade: 73.4 (Rank: 3/6).  Principal Opponent: Quay Walker.  Week 12 Snaps: 60.  Week 12 Grade: 60.6.  Week 12 was a quieter one for Gibbs, who racked up 73 yards on 15 total touches. Nearly half of his 54 rushing yards came on a toss sweep to start the third quarter. The Packers did an excellent job of cutting off angles for Gibbs to exploit after the catch, resulting in his lowest receiving output since Week 4. He’ll face a similar challenge next week against Demario Davis and the Saints.  PICK NO. 18: DETROIT LIONS: LB JACK CAMPBELL - Overall Rookie Grade: 48.6 (Rank: 3/4) - Principal Opponent: A.J. Dillon.  Week 12 Snaps: 31.  Week 12 Grade: 74.4.  Detroit had plenty of defensive issues on Thanksgiving, but Campbell wasn’t one of them. He posted a career-high 74.4 overall grade, buoyed by a 71.0 coverage grade. Campbell allowed just one A.J. Dillon reception for five yards. It was the first time this season that he looked consistently comfortable in coverage. He also made a run stop to continue his solid work in that facet. NFL Week 13 Rookie Stock Watch: Patrick Mahomes Finally Has a Receiver (Holding steady - Sam LaPorta, TE, Lions:  Lions tight end Sam LaPorta caught five passes for 47 yards and a touchdown against the Lions on Thanksgiving.  LaPorta has 539 yards receiving and five scores on the season.  Last week: Not rated.  LaPorta has been excellent this year, easily the best tight end of the rookie crop alongside the Bills’ Dalton Kincaid. LaPorta caught five passes for 47 yards and a touchdown against the Packers on Thanksgiving, giving him 539 yards and five scores on the season.):  https://www.si.com/nfl/2023/11/28/2023-week-13-nfl-rookie-stock-watch-risers-fallers-holding-steady

8 things we learned in NFL Week 12: Cowboys' offensive leap, Patriots' new low (Lions’ pass defense could be their Achilles’ heel.  We covered how impressive Jordan Love’s latest outing was for the Packers; he had his best game (268 yards, three touchdowns) on national television in hostile territory. The flipside of that coin is that the Detroit Lions’ defense allowed it.  When the offense scores 40 points a game, it’s not as noticeable. But in the last two weeks, Detroit’s offense — and quarterback Jared Goff in particular — hasn’t been as reliable. Goff and the Lions offense turned the ball over four times against Chicago and three times against Green Bay. The Lions got away with it in Week 11 because the Chicago Bears are, well, the Chicago Bears. But against a team that has started to figure it out in recent weeks and has an upward trajectory, the shortcomings on defense in Detroit were glaring.  The Lions gave up chunk plays, many of which went to struggling Packers wide receiver Christian Watson, who had his best game of the season. Watson caught five passes for 94 yards and a touchdown, which included a 53-yard bomb on the very first play of the game. The Packers had eight plays of 15 yards or more.  They attacked Detroit’s nonexistent defensive-back rotation. Both starting corners, Cam Sutton and Jerry Jacobs, played 100% of the team’s defensive snaps. Their starting safeties, Brian Branch and Kerby Joseph, were also on the field for the entire game. All four are good players, some even great in Branch’s case, but even great players need a break. Because of key injuries sustained early on, Detroit’s backfield doesn’t at all look like it was supposed to.  What’s even more disheartening is that there isn’t much the Lions can do in the way of adding quality depth to get a better rotation for the defensive backfield. The time to do that was a month ago before the trade deadline. Now, all they can do is hope that Gardner-Johnson can return before the postseason. If he doesn’t, the Lions could be looking at yet another early playoff exit. —Carmen Vitali):  https://www.foxsports.com/stories/nfl/8-things-we-learned-in-nfl-week-12-cowboys-offensive-leap-patriots-new-low

2024 Mock Draft Round Up #4

SN (27. Detroit Lions (8-3) Tyler Nubin, S, Minnesota (6-2, 210 pounds):  The Lions love Brian Branch in the nickel but some injuries and passing production agains them inside from tight ends suggests they need safety help with only short-term solutions there for a young defense. Nubin would be a fine back-seven active playmaking complement to linebacker Jack Campbell.) (12-1-23):  https://www.sportingnews.com/us/nfl/news/nfl-mock-draft-2024-bo-nix-jj-mccarthy-michael-penix/0d6fc049f7ece55bbb1f426b

Walter football Charlie (27.  Detroit Lions: Amarius Mims, OT, Georgia:  Detroit missed out on the first-round cornerbacks, and there isn’t an edge rusher worth taking this high. The Lions could use some offensive line help. Jonah Jackson is a free agent, and they may not be able to re-sign him, while at right guard, they’ve had a lot of different starters over the past few years. Mims could start out at guard and, in a year or two, replace Taylor Decker to form a superb tackle tandem with Penei Sewell.  The 6-foot-7, 330-pound Mims was a backup and rotational player for Georgia, but he could become a star in 2023. Mims dominated Ohio State to close out the 2022 season and looked like he was toying with the highly touted Buckeyes defensive ends. Manning right tackle for Georgia, Mims is a giant monster who has very little body fat and is a unique physical specimen with size, speed and athleticism. Team sources say Mims has 11.2-inch hands and 36-inch arms, as well as quickness. They noted his physical body is similar to that of Tyron Smith. NFL team evaluators say Mims has been more physical and nasty in 2023, and he was playing dominant football before being sidelined for a while by a lower leg injury. Team sources say that while Mims could be in the running for the best skill set of any player in the 2024 NFL Draft, he could slide to late in the first round because of a lack of playing experience, which was hindered by missing games to injury in 2023.  62. Detroit Lions: CB Max Melton.  Jerry Jacobs has been phenomenal and a brilliant undrafted free agent signing by the Lions. Cam Sutton has played well also, but Detroit could use a third corner to go with them.  So far this year, Melton has recorded 29 tackles, two interceptions and six passes broken up. He went under the radar in 2022 due to playing on a bad Rutgers team that failed to qualify for a bowl game. He totaled 33 tackles, two interceptions and nine passes broken up on the year. While Max Melton had not received a lot of media attention, he caught fire in the scouting community for the 2023 NFL Draft. Some evaluators said they thought Melton could have been one of the top cornerback prospects in the 2023 NFL Draft and had a shot at being the first one off the board. However, Melton went back to school.  Melton is listed at 6-foot, 190 pounds, but pro sources say he might be more like 5-foot-11, 188 pounds. They state Melton has excellent speed and is super fast at shutting down the deep part of the field. Receivers can’t outrun him, and he is a superb athlete who can run the routes to prevent separation. Melton is a tough competitor and has a lot of upside.) (12-1-23):  https://walterfootball.com/draft2024charlie.php

Draft wire Risdon (27. Detroit Lions: Jared Verse, EDGE, Florida State:  Another player who ranked much higher in preseason, Verse had a hit-and-miss campaign for the Seminoles. The bend and closing burst remain fantastic, and that’s exactly what Detroit needs opposite Aidan Hutchinson. The Lions would have to live with his astronomical missed tackle rate (over 25 percent in two years) and spotty run defense.) PFN Broback (27. Detroit Lions: Jeremiah Trotter Jr., LB, ClemsonJeremiah Trotter Jr. recently declared for the draft, and he’s going to a great spot in this 2024 NFL Mock Draft. With Jack Campbell already on the roster, adding Trotter gives the Lions two young stars at linebacker.  Both Campbell and Trotter will fly around the field, and they’d be one of the more entertaining duos to watch in the league. Trotter’s a natural at the position, and he continues to add to his family legacy in the NFL.) (11-30-23):  https://www.profootballnetwork.com/2024-nfl-mock-draft-thursday-week-14-2023/

Walter football Walt (27. CB Marcellas Dial:  The Lions wanted Devon Witherspoon at No. 6, so perhaps they’ll obtain a cornerback with this pick. Marcellas Dial has a good blend of size, athleticism, and speed.  58. Detroit Lions: Layden Robinson, G, Texas A&M:  The Lions have a great offensive line, save for right guard. That could be addressed with this pick.  Layden Robinson isn’t very athletic, but he’s a violent blocker who has impressed this season.) (11-29-23):  https://walterfootball.com/draft2024.php

SI Easterling (27. Detroit Lions  DE Chris Braswell:  Aidan Hutchinson has already established himself as one of the most dominant edge defenders in the NFL, but the Lions could use a boost on the other edge of their defensive front. Braswell has five-star talent that has blossomed this season, with his power and explosiveness leading to huge numbers and first-round buzz.  58. Detroit Lions
CB Quinyon Mitchell.  84. 84. Detroit Lions (from MIN)
WR Jermaine Burton.  89. Detroit Lions

Draft Tek (26.  DE Chop Robinson:  Many observers of the Detroit Lions' breakthrough season were surprised when the team did not bring in pass rush reinforcements at the trade deadline. Team officials said they had weighed the options and decided not to make a deal that could upset the team's gung-ho culture. Not a ringing endorsement of Chase Young, but certainly a strong hint that the try-hard guys are going to keep coming.  Penn State Edge Chop Robinson would find a home among the football freaks being assembled in Detroit. His twitchy technique and non-stop motor would complement Aidan Hutchinson to spark the team's pass rush and overall defense. If Robinson is gone, a D-Tackle with rush traits would be another strong option. --Jud Branam, Lions Analyst.  58.  LB Barrett Carter.  82. WR Johnny Wilson.  90 DT Shemar Turner.  162. PFN Schulte (22. Detroit Lions (via SEA): Jayden Daniels, QB, LSU.  Trade: The Detroit Lions receive pick 22. The Seattle Seahawks receive picks 27, 162, and a 2025 fifth-round pick.  Seattle has shown a willingness to move down often in the draft, while the Lions have never been afraid to make a move either.  I remain unconvinced that Jared Goff will do anything for the Lions when it comes time to show up and play in less-than-ideal situations. Goff has no more guaranteed money on his deal, and the Lions’ front office has shown an ability to get out in front of team needs and be aggressive.  Jayden Daniels is playing at an extremely high level and would bring a totally different style of play to the Lions’ offense.) Yahoo Tice (30. Detroit Lions — Quinyon Mitchell, CB, Toledo:  Even after investing into the defensive backs room last offseason in free agency and the draft (Brian Branch is a keeper), I have the Lions taking Mitchell. He’s a MACtion alum who hits all of the height, weight and speed thresholds that teams love from their cornerback prospects and should keep rising up draft boards as the process heats up.  Not only does he have the physical traits that are prioritized, he is also highly aware and plays with fantastic eyes on the quarterback and route concepts. Mitchell constantly makes plays on the ball and makes turnovers happen. His aggressive style would fit right in with this Lions team under head coach Dan Campbell, and Mitchell is going to get only more fans as this process wears on.) PFN Miller (30. Detroit Lions: Andrew Mukuba, S, Clemson:  Andrew Mukuba will be an excellent modern safety. He is far from the prototypical size we think of for the position, but his foot speed and coverage chops make him a good option for immediate snaps in the slot at the next level. However, he has plenty of experience on the back end as well, making him a diverse coverage player in Aaron Glenn’s defense.  It’s also worth mentioning that C.J. Gardner-Johnson was on a one-year deal, and Tracy Walker’s contract expires after 2024.  62. Detroit Lions: Quinton Mitchell, CB, Toledo:  Cornerbacks who are 6’1″, 200 pounds, and run a 4.3×40 usually don’t last this long on the board. However, they’re usually not playing at Toledo, either.  Small-school players must test out of the water, and if Mitchell shows explosiveness, agility, and speed at the NFL Combine, it will quell any concerns about the level of competition he played against at Toledo.) FTW D'Andrea (29.  Detroit Lions: CB Kamari Lassiter, Georgia - Needs: CB, WR, EDGE, LB.  The Lions’ secondary has improved significantly this season, dropping its passer rating allowed nearly 10 full points to 84.5 through nine weeks. But there’s no such thing as too much cornerback depth, and Dan Campbell loves guys who are happy to play angry.  That’s Lassiter, who can bully wideouts at the line of scrimmage and blasts through tackles with more strength than his 180 pound frame suggests. He’s got six passes defensed through nine games in 2023.) (11-8-23):  https://ftw.usatoday.com/lists/nfl-mock-draft-2024-drake-maye-caleb-williams-marvin-harrison-jr

USA Today Middlehurst-Schwartz (29. Detroit Lions - Landon Jackson, DE, Arkansas:  A midseason reality check served up in the Ravens' dismantling of the Lions highlighted the urgency for Detroit to continue building out its defense. One of the top priorities should be finding a proper complementary edge rusher to put opposite Aidan Hutchinson. The 6-7, 281-pound Jackson would check off plenty of boxes for GM Brad Holmes and coach Dan Campbell, as he combines stout run-stuffing ability with a burgeoning pass-rush skill set after recording 3 ½ sacks against Alabama.) Week 13 Predictions

SN Iyer (Lions (-3.5, 45.5 o/u) at Saints:  The Saints' offense might be very thin at wide receiver with injuries and Derek Carr isn't playing well. The running game will be contained, as will Alvin Kamara in the passing game. The Lions are well rested and will be refocused on the road after the Packers upset on Thanksgiving. The Saints' run defense is breaking down and the worst team and they won't have the offense to answer well with Derek Carr at home.  Pick: Lions win 27-20 and cover the spread.):  https://www.sportingnews.com/us/nfl/news/nfl-picks-predictions-against-spread-week-13/45f3878cb85be641524a166c

SN Bender (Detroit Lions (-3.5) at New Orleans Saints: Turnovers have been a problem for Detroit the last two weeks. The Lions had seven turnovers between the win against Chicago in Week 11 and the Thanksgiving loss to the Packers. New Orleans is hovering in the NFC South race, but they have averaged just 17 points per game in their last two losses. The Lions are 3-1 S/U and 3-1 ATS on the road. It is a tough one, but a bounce-back game is in the cards if Jared Goff protects the football.  Pick: Lions 25, Saints 18):  https://www.sportingnews.com/us/nfl/news/nfl-picks-predictions-week-13/d99af9ab4e361a7a5e498848

AP Pro Picks (DETROIT at NEW ORLEANS - The Lions (8-3) aim to rebound from a Thanksgiving loss to the Packers. The Saints (5-6) have lost two in a row, but are in the chase for the division title in the weak NFC South. Behind QB Jared Goff, the Lions are 14-8 against the spread after losing the previous game.  LIONS, 27-20):  https://apnews.com/article/nfl-pro-picks-week-13-cowboys-seahawks-f64cb60ebe77dcca0e6ed27163bba730

Yardbarker Week 13 NFC North predictions: Can Packers upset the defending champs? (Detroit Lions (8-3) at New Orleans Saints (5-6): The Lions have gone 2-1 since their bye week, but shaky performances recently have many questioning their long-term outlook. Heading into Week 12, the Lions are only a four-point favorite over the Saints on the road, per oddschecker, showing the doubts are spreading. An inability to protect or take away the football has soured the view of the Lions, and for good reason. After committing only seven turnovers through Week 7, the Lions have 10 turnovers in their last four games. Meanwhile, only the New England Patriots (11), Los Angeles Rams (9), Tennessee Titans (8) and Carolina Panthers (7) have fewer takeaways than the Lions (12).  Lions head coach Dan Campbell called the turnover ratio a "major issue."  "We can talk about all these other things, but until we clean that up, the other parts of this are a little bit irrelevant," Campbell said, via Brad Galli of WXYZ Detroit. "Honestly, they're not the big issues. We need to take care of the football."  The Saints are ranked third in total takeaways (20), but five came in Week 9 against the Chicago Bears, who have the fourth-most turnovers in the NFL (21). Furthermore, they've dropped two straight to the Vikings and Atlanta Falcons, losing the turnover battle 4-2.  PREDICTION: Lions, 28-15):  https://www.yardbarker.com/nfl/articles/week_13_nfc_north_predictions_can_packers_upset_the_defending_champs/s1_13132_39603677

Week 13 Power Rankings

Yahoo (5. Detroit Lions (8-3, LW: 3):  The poor outing against the Bears didn't turn out to be a blip. The Lions have looked bad in two straight games, both at home against losing teams, and are lucky to be 1-1 out of it. It starts with being very sloppy with the ball and turning it over. The Lions have an easy schedule coming up and they're unlikely to blow the division or anything, but that dream of getting the NFC's No. 1 seed probably died with the loss to the Packers.):  https://sports.yahoo.com/nfl-power-rankings-we-need-to-hold-justin-herbert-accountable-for-chargers-failures-052819747.html

SI (5. Detroit Lions (8–3):  I’m not going to penalize the Lions too much for getting sucker punched by a division rival on Thanksgiving. Most weeks, when a team rushes for 140 yards and has its quarterback post a no-interception, 100-plus QB rating game, they’re going to be OK. Of course, it’s when those occurrences are offset by three fumbles—and one gets returned for a touchdown—that those performances result in defeat.):  https://www.si.com/nfl/2023/11/28/power-rankings-eagles-49ers-jaguars-steelers

PFN Miller (7. Detroit Lions (3):  Jared Goff is floundering. Goff is an excellent passer, but he cannot necessarily overcome a poor environment. He does a good job operating around the pocket and avoiding pressure, but he does not possess the ability to create. He’s turning the ball over too much, and those turnovers were a significant reason why Detroit lost again on Thanksgiving.):  https://www.profootballnetwork.com/week-13-nfl-power-rankings-dalton-miller-2023/

USA Today (7. Lions (6): They've surrendered nearly 100 points and more than 1,100 yards in the three games since their Week 9 bye. Hopefully Detroit's D found the necessary adjustments in the post-Thanksgiving mini-bye as the team prepares to hit the road four of the next five weeks.):  https://www.usatoday.com/story/sports/nfl/columnist/nate-davis/2023/11/28/nfl-power-rankings-panthers-patriots-week-13/71725458007/

FTW (7.  Detroit Lions - Last week’s rank: 5.  Jared Goff has six turnovers in his last two games and is giving the world a reason to doubt the Lions. I understand Dan Campbell feeds off negativity, but I’m certain that’s the kind of hardship he’d like to avoid. Green Bay deftly took Aidan Hutchinson out of the game with plays away from the game-changing edge rusher, allowing Jordan Love to thrive while potentially creating the blueprint for others to follow in the home stretch of 2023. — CD):  https://ftw.usatoday.com/lists/nfl-power-rankings-week-13-steelers-broncos-colts

ESPN (7. Detroit Lions (8-3) - Week 12 ranking: 4. The numbers tell a tale of two teams. For the second year in a row, the Lions' offense is among the best in the league, averaging the second-most yards per game (405.5), while the defense ranks among the bottom -- despite showing flashes of their potential. The Lions excel offensively with a plethora of options to score from rushing to passing, while the defense lacks in the secondary and pass rush, notably against mobile quarterbacks. The Lions are allowing their opponents to score a touchdown in the red zone 68.6% of the time -- the third-worst mark in the league. Special teams coordinator Dave Fipp has the Lions performing among the best in that department with his coaching creativity. The Lions, who sit atop the NFC North, can still get better. -- Eric Woodyard):  https://www.espn.com/nfl/story/_/page/NFLpowerranking112723/nfl-week-13-power-rankings-poll-2023-plus-offense-defense-special-team

Fox sports (7. Detroit Lions (8-3) -5:  The Lions were upset at home as seven-point favorites in a week when all the other heavyweights took care of business. It's not the end of the world, but I don’t blame you if you’re starting to get concerned about the Lions’ defense. Can their offense sustain if their defense doesn’t pick up its play?):  https://www.foxsports.com/stories/nfl/2023-nfl-power-rankings

Athletic (7. Lions - Previous rank: 3rd.  Even Jared Goff’s most ardent fans get nervous this time of year, and Goff wasn’t great Thursday against the Packers. Still, in an off game, he produced 332 yards, two touchdowns and a 103.6 passer rating. The Lions play the Saints, Bears, Broncos and Vikings (twice) down the stretch. If Detroit can get home-field advantage, it can make a run with this offense, which ranks second in the league in yardage (405.5).):  https://www.si.com/nfl/lions/news/lions-tumble-power-rankings-skepticism-growing

SN (8. Detroit Lions 8-3 (3):  The Lions were rare strong home favorites on Thanksgiving, only to meet a familiar losing result against the Packers. They are still looking good with the running game and underneath passing game, but Jared Goff is off when there are pressure leaks and the young defense is experiencing more breakdowns.):  https://www.sportingnews.com/us/nfl/news/nfl-power-rankings-chiefs-cowboys-browns-broncos-packers/3eda3afe4d6307fc2adc9bbe

Fox sports Brooks (8. Detroit Lions - Record: 8-3; Last Week: 3.  Do the Lions have what it takes to go toe-to-toe with the heavyweights in the NFC? That is the million-dollar question floating around the league after Dan Campbell's squad dropped a Thanksgiving Day game against the division-rival Packers. The Jared Goff-led offense can strike with explosive haymakers to Amon-Ra St. Brown and Jameson Willams or by peppering the defense with jabs behind the hard-hitting runs of David Montgomery and Jahmyr Gibbs. Though the unit has recently lost some of its rhythm, the Lions' offensive potential should allow them to bounce back quickly from a disappointing performance.):  https://www.foxsports.com/stories/nfl/nfl-top-10-rankings-eagles-hold-top-spot-49ers-ravens-climb-lions-tumble

NFL.com (8.  Detroit Lions:  The lack of defensive plays hasn’t been a season-long issue, but it has become a more chronic one of late. Seeing that unit struggle to stop the Packers on Thanksgiving wasn’t a complete shock for anyone who has watched Lions football the past two months or so. What was stunning was the lack of pass protection for Jared Goff. Sure, the veteran QB was his own worst enemy and suddenly has become devastatingly turnover-prone, but the offensive line’s breakdown against Green Bay was a surprise if you’ve been attuned to Detroit. Is that the way it’s going to be from here on out? The truth is that the Lions can still lose a few games and win the division.
