Inserting Harmon into this Detroit Lions’ defensive line would be unfair. He is a legit interior rusher who would get a lot of 1-on-1 looks, with Hutchinson occupying much of the double teams. I would love this team/player fit. 60. Princely Umanmielen, EDGE, Ole Miss: The Lions double-dip here on the defensive line after drafting Harmon in Round 1 and now taking Princely Umanmielen in Round 2. Umanmielen oozes with burst and bend and has legit sack potential at the next level. 102. Dorian Strong, CB, Virginia Tech: The Lions signed D.J. Reed this offseason and still returned Terrion Arnold, so their starters are set, but they certainly could use some depth. Dorian Strong is an instinctive corner with good length and quickness. 130. Critics mocked their 2023 draft selections, calling picks like Jahmyr Gibbs, Sam LaPorta, and Jack Campbell reaches. Now, each has become a cornerstone of Detroit’s resurgence. Jackson hasn’t received much first-round hype, but he has aced the offseason circuit. He was dominant at the Senior Bowl, tested exceptionally well at the NFL Combine, and has presented well in meetings so far. All of that to go with his impressive film. At 6’7″ and 280 pounds, Jackson possesses one of the most physically imposing frames in the 2025 draft class. He recorded 6.5 sacks in 2024, and, despite his length, is highly explosive, showcasing outstanding get-off speed and the ability to bend with power. A high-effort player with relentless pursuit, Jackson has seen his draft stock rise and could creep into the first-round conversation. Jackson looks like a Detroit Lion. Carlton Davis III’s departure to the Patriots only magnifies that need. Barron has the traits of a lockdown corner in the NFL. There are questions about his size and physicality, but neither should keep him from being a first-round pick. Draft Tek (28. DE Nic Scourton: The Detroit Lions entered the offseason with questions about their defense and specifically the pass rush. Injuries on that side of the ball decimated the roster and derailed their Super Bowl hopes after a 15-2 season, so fans and analysts felt a cold sense of urgency for reinforcements. But those fresh bodies have not come during free agency - Marcus Davenport and Levi Onwuzurike were re-upped, Z'Adarius Smith was cut, Roy Lopez was brought in for senior DT depth. So the power of human healing and the NFL Draft are the last couple of chances for GM Brad Holmes to get his pass rush to a championship level. Nic Scourton of Texas A&M would be a terrific get for the Lions at Pick 28. He has the strength and anchor to hold the edge and collapse the pocket as the Lions require, along with a devastating spin move and refined hand attack to give Aiden Hutchinson the bookend buddy he has lacked. Of course he plays with a raging intensity and nonstop motor. Donovan Ezeiruaku produced elite numbers in 2024, recording 16.5 sacks and 21 TFLs. The Boston College pass rusher has an incredible bend to turn the edge, and his deep bag of pass rush moves will cause enormous problems for offensive tackles lined up across from the former No. 2 overall selection. 60. Walter football Charlie (28. J.T. Tuimoloau: The Lions could use more rotational edge rush talent and defensive line depth. Plus, Marcus Davenport and Josh Paschal will be in the last year of their contracts in 2025 and both have durability issues. Here’s a rusher to go with Aidan Hutchinson in the long-term. The Lions like edge rushers that are strong and have size. Tuimoloau has the can rush with power or speed and he fits what the Lions like in defensive linemen. In 2024, Tuimoloau had 12.5 sacks, 61 tackles, two forced fumbles, and three passes batted. He is a solid college player but is not a game-wrecker. Some team sources think Tuimoloau (6-4, 270) could become a pro starter, and others think he is more of a backup. Tuimoloau got red hot in the college football playoff, and that has seen his stock rise into being an early-rounder. Tuimoloau totaled 38 tackles, five sacks and two passes broken in 2023. He did not provide a big edge presence for the Buckeyes. He recorded 28 tackles, 3.5 sacks, one forced fumble, two interceptions, and two passes broken up in 2022. 60. WR Savion Williams: The Lions brought back Tim Patrick, but he is a short-term contributor. Plus, they are approaching a decision on a Jameson Williams extension. Here is another explosive weapon that can contribute at receiver and running back. Williams had 60 receptions for 611 yards and six touchdowns in 2024. He averaged 6.3 yards per carry for 322 yards and six scores on the ground. The 6-foot-5, 225-pounder is a huge receiver who presents a big target for his quarterback while also being a dynamic running back. Williams has a serious burst and is a playmaker with tremendous yards after the catch ability. 101. OG Miles Frazier: The Lions could use more youth and competition at guard. Frazier (6-6, 317) started out his college career at Florida International before transferring to the Tigers. In 2024, Frazier played right guard for the Tigers and had a good season. He is strong at the point of attack and could grow into being a well-rounded blocker and future starter. 129. C.J. Nic Scourton could be the solution, with the ability to rotate between outside linebacker and inside pass-rushing roles. His versatility offers depth at multiple positions while providing a high ceiling as a pass rusher.
60. Azareye’h Thomas, CB, Florida State: The Lions’ cornerback depth is generally pretty good, but we saw last year how quickly it can be exposed. Their safety depth has also taken a hit this offseason, so addressing both positions with viable backups with starting-level potential is a smart move. Azareye’h Thomas is an ideal fit. He is a prospect who needs more development but has the skills to play a role as a rookie. He is not a player that you would want starting multiple games as a rookie, but with development, he could be a Year 2 or 3 starter with tremendous upside.
102. Jackson Slater, G, Sacramento State: With Kevin Zeritler no longer in Detroit, the Lions’ guard position looks thin entering 2025. They have a number of veteran options who could slide in and do a job in 2025, but the long-term solution does not appear to be on their roster currently. Jackson Slater posted some incredible numbers at the NFL Combine and impressed at the Senior Bowl, which may be enough to see him creep into Day 2.
