Every NFL team’s most improved player in 2019 (Detroit Lions: C Frank Ragnow - We talked about it before the season, and Ragnow's move from guard in his rookie season to center in 2019 did, in fact, make all the difference. It was his more productive position at Arkansas, and it is his more productive position through two years as a professional, as well. Ragnow's 64.4 overall grade in 2018 was a respectable mark, ranking 15th among qualifying left guards, but his 74.9 grade in 2019 bordered on the center position's elite and ranked sixth among 38 qualifying centers. There was an improvement from Ragnow across the board as both a pass blocker and as a run blocker. Shook: Matching a free agent with each NFC team (DETROIT LIONS: Ha Ha Clinton-Dix, safety: This might seem like a bit of a reach for the Lions, but Detroit could use a splash signing in the secondary and has the cap space (projected $46 million) to get it done. Clinton-Dix has plenty of experience in the NFC North, having played for Green Bay and Chicago, and he stands alongside Bell as one of the best strong safety options on the open market. Hard Knocks producers went in a different direction in 2019, and we're not seeing what has changed to sway opinions in 2020. Simply put, the Lions lack juice. This is a 3-12-1 team that will likely put its offseason focus on improving a dreadful defense. Slay: A team like the Lions should not be so eager to give away a blue-chip talent like Slay, but there is no chance the 28-year-old will re-sign with the team next offseason, so it might as well try to get something in return for him. Dealing the Pro Bowler would not only bring in a valuable draft pick (or two) but it would also free up nearly $10.5 million in cap space. And the Lions should have no problem finding a trade partner. Slay is one of the best coverage corners in the league, and top corners typically cost more than $10.5 million, which would be his cap hit number for his new team. Slay can play inside or out and match up with receivers of all sizes.
