Preseason Lions Look A Little Too Clownish For Comfort: https://971theticket.radio.com/articles/preseason-lions-look-little-too-clownish-comfort-opinion
What to watch for in Week 4 of NFL preseason (Lions (1-2): Quarterbacks Jake Rudock and Matt Cassel are both expected to see playing time, and Rudock is in danger of potentially getting chopped this week if his string of subpar performances continue. The curious case of Ameer Abdullah will be one to watch. The running back has performed well this preseason, but is it enough for general manager Bob Quinn to keep him around? For his part, Abdullah knows it's past the point where he can still control his future. Running back Zach Zenner also is in danger of not making the team. Brandon Powell's preseason catching prowess and ferocious special teams play might make him a lock for the No. 5 receiver spot over Jace Billingsley unless something drastically changes this week.): http://www.nfl.com/news/story/0ap3000000952036/article/what-to-watch-for-in-week-4-of-nfl-preseason
Barnwell: The NFL's 50 most intriguing people, and why each matters (6. Ezekiel Ansah, DE, Lions: Ansah's sack totals and then the number of sacks we would have expected for Ansah given his quarterback knockdown totals are in the link below. He is right where we would expect him to be over the course of his career, but he has dramatically under- or over-performed his expected sack total in four of his five pro seasons. That doesn't bode well for 2018, during which Ansah will be playing out his franchise tag under a new coach in Matt Patricia and defensive coordinator in Paul Pasqualoni. Since 2006, 55 pass-rushers have outperformed their expected sack total by somewhere between 3.5 and 4.5 sacks, as was the case for Ansah last season. The following season, 42 of those 55 players declined, while just nine improved.): http://www.espn.com/nfl/story/_/id/24494088/bill-barnwell-50-most-fascinating-nfl-people-top-storylines-2018-season

NFL roster bubble: Which players might be cut? (Lions RB Ameer Abdullah - By signing LeGarrette Blount and drafting Kerryon Johnson in the second round, Detroit made it clear the league's worst rushing attack was in transition. Now buried behind the two new additions and pass catching specialist Theo Riddick, Abdullah could be on the outs despite serving as the lead back last year. His experience in the offense and value as a returner, however, could help him make the team.): https://www.usatoday.com/story/sports/nfl/2018/08/29/nfl-roster-bubble-cut-candidates-robert-griffin-rg-3-iii/1126141002/
RG3 among 10 notable players on roster bubble (Ameer Abdullah: 2018 Salary Cap Number: $1,322,404; 2018 Compensation: $1,001,745; 2018 Dead Money: $125,000
2018 Salary Cap Savings: $876,745:); Additions at running back have put Adullah on the hot seat, which he recognizes. If Adullah had been revitalizing Detroit's rushing attack like expected when he was taken in the second round of the 2015 draft, LeGarrette Blount and Kerryon Johnson wouldn't have been brought respectively during the free agency and the draft. Theo Riddick seems firmly entrenched as the pass catching third down running back. That leaves Adullah fighting with DeWayne Washington and Zach Zenner for the fourth running back spot. Adullah has been given a chance to return kicks in the preseason, which is something he did well as a rookie. In 2015, he second in the NFL with 29.1 yard average on 37 kickoff returns.): https://www.cbssports.com/nfl/news/agents-take-robert-griffin-iii-jason-mccourty-among-10-notable-players-on-roster-bubble/
