Lions:  Give the Lions credit — they took advantage of Philadelphia’s coverage and special teams busts and epic drops by receivers to walk out of Lincoln Financial Field with a 27-24 win, moving their record to 2-0-1 on the season. You’d like to see more from Matthew Stafford than 18 completions in 32 attempts for 201 yards and one touchdown, but it worked against the Eagles at this point in the season. It won’t work against the Chiefs, whom the Lions welcome to Ford Field next Sunday. ESPN (13. Detroit Lions (2-0-1) - What we got wrong: That the Lions would run the ball well.  Detroit's rushing totals have decreased each week, including 86 yards last week against Philadelphia. The 3.1 yards-per-carry average isn't great, either. They would be 3-0 if not for their confusing meltdown against the Cardinals, but they showed us real mettle with Matt Patricia in taking down the Chargers and Eagles back-to-back. NFL (14. Lions:  Raise your hand if you predicted Detroit would be undefeated through three weeks. That's what I thought. The Lions don't have enough talent to dominate teams, but in each of the last two weeks, we've watched Detroit step up and close out an opponent that looked on the verge of stealing a victory. These are the type of games that separate an 8-8 also-ran from a 10-6 playoff participant. The Lions' defense undoubtedly benefitted from a slew of Eagles mistakes Sunday, but no caveats are necessary in describing the play of Matthew Stafford, who looks more at home on offense under new offensive coordinator Darrell Bevell than he was in the difficult final season under Jim Bob Cooter. The Lions get a huge test this week when Patrick Mahomes brings the Chiefs' air show to Ford Field.
