Reports from Lions camp say that tight end T.J. Hockenson has been Jared Goff’s top target throughout training camp. What I say to that is, “no duh.”.  On paper, the Lions have the worst group of wide receivers in the NFL. NFL bounce-back candidates: What went wrong for 32 players last season and their outlook for 2021 (DETROIT LIONS: TRACY WALKER, S (PFF grade in 2020: 51.0):  What went wrong: As a rookie in 2018, Walker starred as a small-sample darling before breaking out as a full-time starter in 2019. Those first two years combined for an 82.5 PFF grade, ranking 12th among safeties with at least 1,000 snaps in that span. Things went sharply downhill last season. Walker was tasked with playing closer to the line of scrimmage as opposed to free safety where he was at his best. When looking solely at those reps in 2018 and 2019, he jumps to third at the position in PFF grade. A bounce-back could be in order as Walker will get back to playing deep in 2021. — PFF.  Outlook for 2021: Not only was the 2020 season rough individually for Walker, but it was tough for the Lions as a whole, as they finished with the league's worst defense. Walker is returning to the free safety position under new defensive coordinator Aaron Glenn's scheme and so far, has a great understanding of his role. Coach Dan Campbell also praised the leadership of Walker, even sharing a funny training camp story in which Walker paid his fine for not fulfilling a $50 bet that he would get an interception during practice. “He owes me two,” Campbell joked. Gil Brandt: 11 non-first-round rookies primed to pop (6. WR Amon-Ra St. Brown:  There should be ample opportunity for St. Brown to grab playing time in Detroit, where an uninspiring collection of receiving talent (Breshad Perriman, Tyrell Williams, Kalif Raymond) populates the depth chart. 2021 NFL preseason All-NFC North Team (TE TJ Hockenson:  It was tough to choose between Hockenson, Robert Tonyan, Irv Smith, and Cole Kmet. None has necessarily shown to be a dominant tight end yet in their career, and they all have their merits. Ultimately, we went with who we feel is the most talented player of the group, and the one that figures to have the largest role in his offense.   C Ragnow:  I like the interior of this offensive line a lot. Ragnow has blossomed into a really good center. He's athletic and strong and deserving of his new contract. P Jack Fox and Ret Kalif Raymond:  I won't lie, I deferred to our resident expert, John Breech, when it came to the kickers and punters. He told me that Crosby was the best kicker and Fox the best punter in this division, and I believe him.
