The NFL's best remaining free agents (27
WR D.J. Chark - D.J. Chark is a few seasons removed from his 2019 campaign, that saw him catch a career-high 73 passes for 1,008 yards and eight touchdowns and earned him a Pro Bowl selection. Since then he has appeared in just 17 games for the Jacksonville Jaguars, and his 2020 season was cut short due to a fractured ankle. However, Chark is another prototypical X receiver in this free agent class, with the size, speed and release game to operate on the boundary and be effective in the downfield passing game. That size and frame showed up last season before his injury, on plays like this one against the Houston Texans:  His injury history might soften the market a bit, but as we have seen receivers that can win on the outside against press and without the benefit of the two-way go from the slot are valued heavily, so Chark’s skill-set might still open some doors should he hit the open market.):  https://touchdownwire.usatoday.com/lists/2022-nfl-free-agency-von-miller-bobby-wagner/

Grades:

SN NFL free agency grades 2022: Live analysis of every free agent signing and trade (Lions sign Jaguars WR D.J. Chark for 1 year, $10 million (Grade: A):  It's inexplicable why the Jaguars didn't want to keep Chark at this price coming off his ankle injury because he profiles as a No. 1 when healthy. Detroit will enjoy having the young veteran work off second-year star Amon-Ra St. Brown.):  https://www.sportingnews.com/us/nfl/news/nfl-free-agency-2022-grades-signings-trades/kidgkac07ak2tu6yajruhhnx

Walter football Grades ( Lions sign WR D.J. Chark (1 year, $10 million): A Grade - I don't understand this signing, though not from the Lions' perspective. Detroit enjoyed seeing Amon-Ra St. Brown have a terrific rookie campaign, but had nothing else at receiver. The team needed two new receivers entering free agency, so obtaining Chark is a great move for them, especially at this price. Chark is extremely talented, so getting him for just $10 million for one season is exceptional.  What I don't quite get is why Chark signed with the Lions. He needed to sign a 1-year "prove it" contract because of an injury that caused him to miss all but three games in 2021, but he could have gone to a team with a better passing attack to revive his career for 2023 free agency. He signed so quickly that he didn't even let a market develop for him. The Lions won't complain, but Chark needs better representation.):  https://walterfootball.com/freeagentsigninggrades.php

CBS Free Agency Grades (D.J. Chark signs 'prove it' deal with Detroit - This is a great deal for both sides. The former Jaguars Pro Bowl receiver will get paid a reported $13 million for the 2022 season to prove his value. Grade: A-):  https://www.cbssports.com/nfl/news/2022-nfl-free-agency-grades-ravens-get-a-for-marcus-williams-signing-broncos-take-risk-with-randy-gregory/
