Grades:

Walter football Grade for Moseley (Lions sign CB Emmanuel Moseley (1 year, $6 million): B+ Grade.  Cornerback was seen as a primary weakness for the Lions entering the offseason, so it's no surprise that they've signed two players at the position. Cameron Sutton was obtained yesterday, followed by Emmanuel Moseley, who was added on a 1-year "prove it" deal.  I'm a big fan of these sort of "prove it" deals because the player in question will try their hardest to get a long-term contract the following spring. The problem here is that Moseley is coming off a torn ACL. Moseley is a very talented slot cornerback when healthy, but it's unreasonable to expect him to be 100 percent in 2023. Still, the Lions aren't taking much of a chance by signing him.):  https://walterfootball.com/freeagentsigninggrades.php

Walter football Grade for Cominsky (Lions re-sign DE John Cominsky (2 years, $8.5 million): B+ Grade.  The Lions earn two consecutive B+ signing grades. The first was for their acquisition of Emmanuel Moseley. The second is for their retention of John Cominsky.  This signing won't move the needle or anything, but Cominsky was a solid rotational player for the team last year. He recorded four sacks despite playing about half the snaps. He doesn't have much experience, so he could continue to improve. This price is about right for him, so I think a B+ is warranted.):  https://walterfootball.com/freeagentsigninggrades.php

PFN (Lions Sign CB Emmanuel Moseley - After fielding the NFL’s third-least efficient pass defense in 2022, the Lions have added Cameron Sutton and Moseley to shore up their cornerback room. Detroit’s secondary struggled so much last season that the team fired position coach Aubrey Pleasant in October. Heading into the free agent period, the only cornerbacks on the Lions’ roster with pro experience were Jeff Okudah and Jerry Jacobs.  Moseley had shown development in recent seasons, allowing passer ratings below 70 in both 2021 and 2022. Because he’s coming off an ACL tear, the Lions were able to sign him for just $6 million on a one-year deal. Moseley is a solid addition, but I would have liked Detroit to grab another year of contractual control in case he breaks out in 2023.  Grade: B-):  https://www.profootballnetwork.com/2023-nfl-free-agency-grades-rashaad-penny-to-eagles-allen-lazard-to-jets-and-more/
