NFL's 2023–24 Winners and Losers: Chiefs Ascend to Dynasty Status As Cowboys, Jets Flounder (Winners - Lions:  We can now safely call the Detroit Lions a winning organization, possibly for the first time since Barry Sanders’s Lions in the ’90s.  And I probably wouldn’t strongly disagree if this take is premature because Matthew Stafford’s Lions made the postseason three times, but never in back-to-back seasons. The Motor City got to experience two championships from the "Bad Boys" in the late 1980s, but now the Pistons are just flat bad. With the 20th anniversary of the franchise's 2004 title coming up, Detroit's NBA team is an astounding 88-267 since its last playoff appearance five years ago.  The Lions were an incredible team and an incredible story this season, and seem to have a bright future, but this is also an organization that won one playoff game from 1958-2022. The Tigers haven't won the World Series in 40 years and even the Red Wings' incredible tradition that includes 11 Stanley Cups has taken a hit in recent years.
