Wide Receiver Rankings: Top 15 age 25 and under for 2024 (5. Amon-Ra St. Brown, Detroit Lions:  I’ve been a long-time fan of Amon-Ra St. Brown’s game, and he’s still exceeded my expectations every step of the way. He’s not just a slot receiver, as his ability to win against press has improved in each of his three pro seasons. You can argue that he’s one of the most valuable receivers to his team’s offense, a scoring unit that happens to be among the best in the NFL.  Some will ding St. Brown because he doesn’t impact plays deep downfield as much as some of the other top receivers but he’s fantastic where he does win. His skill set and overall game has long been a clean overlap with Cooper Kupp, who won the triple-crown in 2021. Predicting the NFL’s 2024 First- and Second-Team All-Pros (Tight end  - First team: Sam LaPorta, Detroit Lions.  It’s rare for a rookie tight end to come into the NFL and dominate, but LaPorta did just that for Detroit. A second-round pick from Iowa, the youngster caught 86 passes for 899 yards and 10 touchdowns, earning a trip to the Pro Bowl.  With Ben Johnson as his offensive coordinator and a unit around him including receiver Amon-Ra St. Brown, and running backs David Montgomery and Jahmyr Gibbs, LaPorta will see plenty of single coverage ... and he’ll destroy it.  Defensive end - First team: Aidan Hutchinson, Detroit Lions; Maxx Crosby, Las Vegas Raiders.  Meanwhile, Hutchinson is the epicenter of a burgeoning Detroit defense. In his second season, Hutchinson racked up 11.5 sacks and three forced fumbles. NFL players who need strong 2024 training camps (WR Jameson Williams, Lions - Williams has been limited to 18 games played in two seasons due to injury and a gambling-related suspension. The former first-round selection caught 24 passes for 354 yards and two touchdowns last fall. Detroit sorely misses a speed element to its offense that Williams could satisfy if his play were more efficient. Position: RB | Team: Detroit Lions | Age: 22 - The surprise first-round draft pick made just three official starts while splitting the backfield as a rookie, and even still, the slippery Alabama product eclipsed 1,200 scrimmage yards and 11 scores. His juice as a change-of-pace dual threat gives the already-balanced Lions a home run threat out of the backfield. 24. Sam LaPorta Position: TE | Team: Detroit Lions | Age: 23 - If Jahmyr Gibbs is lightning, then LaPorta is the thunder of this second-year Motor City pairing. Fresh off one of the finest rookie seasons by any tight end in NFL history, he's a rock-steady No. 2 target in one of the league's best offenses, excelling immediately as both a pass blocker and catcher.  22. Aidan Hutchinson Position: DE | Team: Detroit Lions | Age: 24 - The former No. 2 overall pick was solid as expected in his 2022 debut, but he quietly took a big leap in 2023, more than doubling his quarterback-hit count (15 to 33) while serving as an emotional anchor for Detroit's defense. With 21 sacks in two years, he's only ascending on an emergent contender.  8. Amon-Ra St. Brown Position: WR | Team: Detroit Lions | Age: 24 - The USC product was efficient from the get-go in Detroit, securing almost 76% of his targets as a rookie. Since then, however, he's become even more dangerous as Jared Goff's safety valve, welcoming more volume with splashier, crunch-time results. His 1,500-yard breakout in 2023 might just be the start.  4. Penei Sewell Position: OT | Team: Detroit Lions | Age: 23 - The big man has always been noteworthy for his size (6-5, 335), and he was key to Detroit's push for relevance late in 2022. Grading the Trades From This NFL Offseason: From Stefon Diggs to Haason Reddick, Which Teams Did the Best and Worst? (5 Teams Who Made the Worst Trades This Offseason - Detroit Lions Trade for Carlton Davis:  The Lions traded a 2024 third-round pick for Carlton Davis, a 2024 sixth-round pick, and a 2025 sixth-round pick.  The Lions are a good football team that was close to a Super Bowl appearance last season. So, it makes sense for them to attack what many view as a weak spot by adding veteran CB Carlton Davis.  However, Davis has been an oft-injured player over the last few years, and 2023 wasn’t his best statistical year.  Maybe a change of scenery will do him good, but with Detroit’s approach to free agency and the draft, they may have been better served giving a younger guy a shot at winning a job.  Grade: C+):  https://www.profootballnetwork.com/grading-nfl-offseason-trades-best-worst-2024/
