NFL offensive line rankings: All 32 units entering the 2020 NFL season (16. DETROIT LIONS - The Lions finished with the No. 11 offensive line last season as they had two players finish in the top 10 at their respective positions — center Frank Ragnow finished sixth and right guard Graham Glasgow finished 10th — while left tackle Taylor Decker ranked 19th. There will be some turnover as Glasgow moves on in free agency and right tackle Rick Wagner also departs. At tackle, Decker enters the fifth year of his rookie contract, and he has ranked above the league average on true pass sets and run blocking grade on both gap and zone runs since 2016. Left guard Joe Dahl performed well in his first year as a starter in 2019, though it was a bit lopsided as he ranked 23rd with a pass-blocking grade of 73.0, but he finished just 48th as a run blocker at 57.1. Ragnow had the No. 2 grade among centers in the run game at 78.2, showing off the skills that made him one of the best interior offensive line prospects of the PFF College era (since 2014). The questions are on the right side, where Halapoulivaati Vaitai signed for $45 million over five years to start at right tackle. Vaitai is coming off a career-high 76.2 run block grade, but his pass-blocking grade of just 55.2 since 2016 ranks 84 out of 94 qualifiers, so that remains a major question mark. At right guard, third-round pick Jonah Jackson was our favorite pass protecting guard in the draft, and he has the all-around game to step right in as a starter. He’ll compete with veteran Oday Aboushi, who hasn’t posted an overall grade above 62.7 since 2014. Keep an eye on fourth-rounder Logan Stenberg, who brings excellent power and size to the line and may be a solid starter down the road. Ranking all eight divisions by TEs (7. NFC North (Kyle Rudolph, Irv Smith Jr. (Vikings), T.J. Ranking divisions by RBs (5. NFC North (David Montgomery, Tarik Cohen (Bears), Kerryon Johnson, D'Andre Swift (Lions), Aaron Jones, AJ Dillon, Jamaal Williams (Packers), Dalvin Cook, Alexander Mattison (Vikings)): Why, oh why, are the Packers so reluctant to give Aaron Jones a bell-cow role? He's clearly been the best back on the roster for several years, but two different coaches have resisted giving him the full-time job. And the second of those coaches just brought in a third running back to share snaps with him. Sigh. The Lions are similarly reluctant to give their lead role to Kerryon Johnson, but the difference is that Johnson hasn't been nearly as effective as Jones. Swift is also a more dynamic threat than either of the Packers' other backs, though, and a better pass-catcher as well. Dalvin Cook finally stayed healthy last season, and recaptured the superstar talent he showed before tearing his ACL as a rookie. He's a home-run threat as a runner and also a terrific pass-catcher, making him a perfect fit for what modern NFL teams need out of their backs. Mattison looked just fine spelling Cook on limited snaps last season, and while the Vikes would surely prefer Cook's holdout not last all that long, they could feel okay about Mattison, Mike Boone, and Ameer Abdullah as a backup plan. Montgomery was one of the least effective backs in the league last season. He led the nation in broken tackles two years ago, though, and that skill doesn't just disappear. If Chicago can get moderately better blocking so he can make it more than a yard down the field, maybe he'll find more success. The same goes for Cohen, whose average catch traveled approximately negative-37 yards last year. At the time of his injury, he was playing like a top-five quarterback. Finally, there's Cousins, who remains underappreciated. Since he became a full-time starting quarterback in 2015, he's completing 68.1 percent of his passes averaging 4,215.4 yards, 27.4 touchdowns, and 10.4 interceptions per season, and has accumulated a 99.6 passer rating. Those might not be great numbers. But they are good numbers. The NFC North only has one weak link and three good-to-great quarterbacks.
