Grading all 32 first-rounders: 2026 NFL preseason Week 1 (17. T Blake Miller, Detroit Lions - Snaps: 39, PFF Grade: 66.6.  Key Stat: 24 pass-blocking snaps, two hurries allowed, no sacks.  Miller played the second-most pass-blocking snaps of any first-round lineman in Week 1 and handled the volume well.  All 39 of his reps came at right tackle against the Bengals, where he posted a 68.6 PFF pass-blocking grade. 2026 NFL Preseason Week 2: 10 things to watch (Contender Questions - 5. Is Detroit’s O-line renovation already falling apart? What was the biggest reason for last season’s regression in the Motor City? All the injuries certainly didn’t help, but I’d place a healthy share of the blame on the offensive line. After spearheading Detroit’s back-to-back NFC North titles in 2023 and ’24, the O-line deteriorated in 2025. Consequently, Dan Campbell, Brad Holmes and Co. overhauled the unit this offseason. At the bookends, the Lions shifted Penei Sewell from right tackle back to his college position on the blind side, spent a first-round pick on high-floor RT Blake Miller and signed veteran Larry Borom. That OT plan remains operational, but the interior is an entirely different story. Cade Mays was signed in free agency to man the pivot, but a wrist injury has sidelined him until midseason. Detroit continues to hope Christian Mahogany will lock down the left guard spot, but a pair of penalties in the preseason opener didn’t inspire confidence. Tate Ratledge appears solid at right guard, but could the second-year pro be tapped to fill the hole at center? Or will trade acquisition Juice Scruggs get the call? Might seventh-year vet Ben Bartch be one of the team’s “best five” up front? How viable a center option is Seth McLaughlin, who went undrafted in 2025? One potential first-time Pro Bowler from each NFC team heading into the 2026 NFL season (Lions Alim McNeill:  Prior to his 2024 knee injury, Alim McNeill was a penetrating wrecking ball. After his midseason return last year, the 6-2, 310-pound defensive tackle lacked the explosiveness that got him paid. The further away from injury, the better things should get for the big man. His return to prominence is crucial for a Lions defense already dealing with injuries. That success persisted even through changes to the coaching staff.  "Dan Campbell and Jared Goff would be seven," Cowherd said. "They have the most wins and the highest scoring average by any NFL coach quarterback combo in the last three seasons. And it should be duly noted that their coordinator last year didn't work out as planned. So they're just, these two work together. 2026 NFL Top-10 RBs: Which Newly Paid Star Is The League's Best Running Back? (Detroit Lions - 2. Jahmyr Gibbs:  McKenna: It’s fun to imagine what will happen in 2026 with Gibbs taking over the backfield as the Lions’ bellcow back. In a timeshare last year, he had 1,223 rushing yards, 616 receiving yards and 18 total touchdowns. That was in a timeshare. What happens when he’s the guy?!  Gibbs has never needed much in the way of touches to make a huge impact on each game. But as the Lions hope to return to the playoffs, it actually probably reassures Detroit fans that Gibbs will be a bigger part of the offense. Because when he gets the ball, magic happens. He’s as explosive in the rushing game as he is in the passing game. Predicting when each NFL team will lose its first game in 2026 (Saints (at Lions). The Saints could end up being surprisingly good this year, but this is a tough matchup for New Orleans in Week 1. Top 30 NFL players age 30 and over for 2026 season (18. Jared Goff - Age: 31.  The Lions are coming off a 9-8 season where they were on the outside looking in on the playoffs, and while the offense did take a step back after losing offensive coordinator Ben Johnson, Goff still put up strong numbers. He was second in the NFL in passing yards and passing touchdowns, third in passer rating, and had just eight interceptions.
