2025 NFL MVP race: Case for and against top 8 candidates entering Week 15 (THREE UP - 2. Detroit Lions DEFENSE:  Detroit faced a major challenge in a Thursday night matchup with the Cowboys, who possessed one of the hottest offenses in football. The Lions responded by showing people why they’ve won the NFC North the last two seasons. Detroit sacked Dak Prescott five times -- the Lions only had four sacks over their previous four games -- and pressured him on 20 pass attempts. This is a defense that already had lost cornerback Terrion Arnold to a season-ending injury and will now be without safety Brian Branch, who tore his Achilles in that win over Dallas. In other words, the Lions defense displayed the kind of grit that this franchise always preaches.):  https://www.nfl.com/news/cases-for-against-top-eight-nfl-mvp-candidates-who-s-up-down-entering-week-15

NFL Week 14 Team of the Week: Josh Allen and Puka Nacua Headline Squad (RB: Jahmyr Gibbs, Lions - You could make a case for the Rams' Blake Corum just as a "Gosh, it'd be nice to have some new faces on here," but Gibbs was huge in Thursday's Lions win over the Cowboys, rushing for three touchdowns and adding 77 receiving yards to finish with 130 yards from scrimmage. He's maintaining a ridiculous rushing average and getting more and more involved in the pass game, as well.   Gibbs going to make a crazy amount of money as the Lions try to figure out how to extend all their outstanding 2023 draft picks.  DL: Al-Quadin Muhammad, Lions - It's been a nice breakout year for Muhammad, who is on his fourth NFL team and 30 years old, as he's now one sack away from his first double-digit season. Muhammad had three in Thursday's win over Dallas, giving him more sacks this season than Aidan Hutchinson (8.5) now has.  It's wild to think he's part of that insane 2017 Saints draft that produced Alvin Kamara, Trey Hendrickson, Marshon Lattimore and others. Alas, he left the Saints after four games and zero sacks.  LB: Jack Campbell, Lions - Back to that Detroit 2023 draft class.  Campbell had 12 tackles, a sack and a forced fumble in Thursday's win over Dallas, and he's making a strong case for a Pro Bowl nod. Two more tackles and he has a career high, and he already has five sacks after totaling 3.5 in his first two seasons. One forced fumble in his first two seasons, three this year.   He, like his teammates, will get paid handsomely.):  https://www.foxsports.com/stories/nfl/nfl-week-14-team-week-josh-allen-puka-nacua-headline-squad

2026 NFL Mock Draft Round Up #5

Walter football Charlie (18.  Will Heldt, DE, Clemson:  The Lions have Marcus Davenport and Josh Paschal entering free agency after this season, and they need more consistent pass-rushing production across from Aidan Hutchinson.. Thus far in 2025, Heldt has 29 tackles with four sacks and has played well for Clemson. Heldt played well for Purdue in 2024, recording 56 tackles with five sacks. The 6-foot-6, 260-pounder has good size, length, a surprising burst, and plays really hard.  50.  Blake Miller, OT, ClemsonBlake Miller, OT, Clemson:  The Lions could use a tackle to develop behind Taylor Decker.  The 6-foot-6, 310-pound Miller has been a starting tackle for Clemson. He is a good athlete with quickness and agility on the edge. Miller could stand to get stronger and play with more physicality.) (12-5-25):  https://walterfootball.com/draft2026charlie_1.php?rbTop

Tankathon (18.DE T.J. Parker.  50. CB A.J. Harris) (12-5-25):  https://www.tankathon.com/nfl/mock_draft

Draft Tek (19.  DE David Bailey:  The Ravens still can't rush the passer, but at least they recognize that. They sent a conditional 5th round pick to the Titans in exchange for the versatile Dre'Mont Jones, who gives Baltimore more juice in the front seven. Still, the Ravens defense hasn't allowed 20 points in a game in over a month, while the offense has done just enough to enjoy a 4-game win streak. Playoff hopes are alive and well in Baltimore.  The team could very well be in best player available mode in Round 1 of next April's draft. - not because they have no holes, but because they have several. The offensive line needs more consistency, the defensive front is old and injured, and the secondary could use another young corner. Even wide receiver could warrant some consideration. Still, though, the Ravens should choose to address their biggest need. Matayo Uiagalelei's 2024 production (10.5 sacks) nearly matches that of the entire Ravens' defense through 10 games. That doesn't sit right in the city that once housed Terrell Suggs. Uiagalelei is a similar-yet-better prospect than Tavius Robinson, who Baltimore used a 4th round pick on in 2023 and has grown to love. The ability to play both inside and outside could help a team that craves versatility. - Gabe Kamins, Ravens Analyst.  51. CB Domani Jackson.  100.  (Comp) WR Deion Burks.  125.  S Amare Ferrell.  134.  (Comp) Malachi Fields.  165. (Trade) OT Brian Parker II.  196. (Trade) OC Matt Gulbin.  206. (Trade) ILB Ernest Hausmann.  219. (Trade) RB Darius Taylor) (12-4-25):  https://www.drafttek.com/2026-NFL-Draft-Team-Pages/Lions-Draft-Page.asp

Athletic Brugler (17. Detroit Lions: Kadyn Proctor, OT, Alabama:  Proctor would be an easy sell in the Detroit war room — just show Dan Campbell clips of the 360-pounder catching screens and lining up in the backfield. I’m half-kidding, but Proctor would give the Lions a potential heir apparent at left tackle and immediate depth at guard.) (12-3-25):  https://www.nytimes.com/athletic/6852455/2025/12/03/nfl-mock-draft-2026-browns-raiders-dante-moore/

USA Today Middlehurst-Schwartz (17. T.J. Parker, DE, Clemson:  Defensive coordinator Kelvin Sheppard openly acknowledged Monday that the Lions aren't doing nearly enough to throw opposing quarterbacks out of rhythm. With three sacks against South Carolina, Parker is starting to serve up reminders of his first-round toolkit. A well-rounded approach that includes an admirable approach against the run should help him catch the eye of Brad Holmes and Dan Campbell as the long-sought running mate for Aidan Hutchinson.) (12-3-25):  https://www.usatoday.com/story/sports/nfl/draft/2025/12/03/nfl-mock-draft-2026-quarterback-first-round/87567716007/

Walter football Walt (18. Drew Shelton, OT:  The Lions suddenly have a very shaky interior line. They need help at guard and center.  Drew Shelton is an athletic lineman who has played every position at Penn State.  50. Kamari Ramsey, S:  Aaron Glenn is gone, so the Lions need as much secondary talent to make up for the departure.  Kamari Ramsey has excellent coverage skills.) (12-3-25):  https://walterfootball.com/draft2026_1.php

Athlon Sports Easterling (18. David Bailey | Edge | Texas Tech:  Aidan Hutchinson has returned to the same level of dominance he had before last year’s season-ending injury, but the Lions are still searching for a worthy running mate to line up across from him on the defensive front. Bailey has been an absolute game-wrecker for the Red Raiders this season, spearheading one of the most dominant units in all of college football with his ability to get after the passer.  50. OC Connor Lew) (12-2-25):  https://athlonsports.com/nfl/2026-nfl-mock-draft-updated-2-rounds-nfl-week-14

CBS Wilson (17.  Olaivavega Ioane OG:  Ioane is one of the cleanest prospects in this class, excelling as an earth-mover in the run game, and the athleticism to be effective in both gap and zone schemes. In pass protection, he plays with a strong base, using a well-timed, powerful punch to neutralize the bull rush.) (12-1-25):  https://www.cbssports.com/nfl/draft/news/wilsons-2026-nfl-mock-draft-3-0-wide-open-qb-race-creates-chaos-at-the-top-of-board/

PFN Cummings (18. Sonny Styles, LB, Ohio State:  Hear me out, Lions fans. I didn’t love the value at other positions of need here, and Alex Anzalone is set to become a free agent soon. The Lions are close to a best-player-available situation, and the best player available is indeed Ohio State’s Sonny Styles.  Styles is 6’4″, 243 pounds, and had six sacks as a blitzer in 2024, so don’t get caught thinking he can’t provide something as a pass-rush catalyst. But his prime function is as an elite WILL linebacker, with sideline range, take-on physicality, and high-end coverage value.  50. Anthony Lucas, EDGE, USC:  The Lions need a long-term complement to Aidan Hutchinson. While Anthony Lucas still needs greater consistency, his power profile is eye-catching at 6’5″, 272 pounds, and on his best reps, he flashes an impressive blend of quickness, hand force, and finishing strength.  118. Justin Joly, TE, NC State.  134. Austin Barber, OT, Florida.  158. Kayin Lee, CB, Auburn.  199. Barion Brown, WR, LSU.  206. Tomas Rimac, OG, Virginia Tech.  222. Cole Payton, QB, North Dakota State)  (11-28-25):  https://www.profootballnetwork.com/nfl-mock-draft-7-round-cummings-november-2025/

Yahoo (18.  Caleb Lomu, OT, Utah:  Taylor Decker’s play has taken a dip this year after a long time manning the blindside in Detroit, making the idea of drafting his replacement more palatable. Lomu is the “other” tackle at Utah, but he’s a quality first-round talent in his own right.) (11-26-25):  https://sports.yahoo.com/nfl/article/2026-nfl-mock-draft-30-jets-raiders-pick-qbs-at-1-2-after-trades-while-2-ohio-state-defenders-go-top-10-050102300.html

CBS Brockermeyer (18. Kelley Jones CB:  Jones is a rare 6-foot-4 corner with both athleticism and range. He excels in press coverage and shows quickness and the ability to run with receivers on in-breaking routes.) (11-25-25):  https://www.cbssports.com/nfl/draft/news/2026-nfl-mock-draft-first-round-projections-thanksgiving/

Draft Network Eisner (18. David Bailey, EDGE, Texas Tech:  Al-Quadin Muhammad has helped, but we’ve been talking about the Lions adding to their EDGE room for a few years now. They didn’t invest premium draft capital at the position last year, so maybe they’ll finally pull the trigger in 2026. David Bailey, the FBS sack leader, continues to have a remarkable season for Texas Tech. The combination of speed, power, and sack production has moved him firmly into the first-round conversation.) (11-23-25):  https://thedraftnetwork.com/2025/11/23/nfl-mock-draft-2026-november-23

PFN Fragoza (18.  T.J. Parker, EDGE, Clemson:  T.J. Parker established himself as a premier 2026 NFL Draft prospect entering 2025, posting exceptional production (16.5 sacks and 33 total tackles for loss) through just two collegiate seasons. Yet, Parker’s stock has corrected slightly from the summer, as his flexibility and lack of elite first-step explosiveness limit his ceiling compared to other athletes.  50. Davison Igbinosun, CB, Ohio State:  Davison Igbinosun brings an uncommon blend of length, vertical speed, and quickness that allows him to play at both the slot and the boundary. He entered Ohio State as a toolsy, raw prospect with high highs and low lows. While he’s evened out the inconsistencies, it’s still his athletic traits and developing instincts that have him firmly on NFL radars, not polished technique.) (11-22-25):  https://www.profootballnetwork.com/nfl-mock-draft-2026-fragoza-november/

USA Today Ostly (18. OT Kadyn Proctor, Alabama:  This almost doesn't seem fair. You can't tell us Dan Campbell saw the Crimson Tide use the 6-foot-7, 360-pound Proctor as a receiver on a few screen passes and didn't get visions of doing the same with him next year. Proctor is an outlier athlete for his size but needs some improvement in his consistency and hand usage. There are few better places for him to learn and develop than Detroit.) (11-22-25):  https://www.usatoday.com/story/sports/nfl/2025/11/22/2026-nfl-mock-draft-titans-giants/87322961007/

ESPN Miller (18. T.J. Parker, Edge, Clemson*:  Aidan Hutchinson is a one-man show on Detroit's defensive line, which ranks dead last in pass rush win rate since offenses are able to key on him. Parker is the type of running mate we've tried to match to Detroit in mock drafts for several years now. At 6-3 and 265 pounds, he plays the edge with length and strength that are pro-caliber, which led to 11.0 sacks as a sophomore in 2024. While he has only 2.0 sacks this season as offenses slide to stop him, Parker's effort and upper-body strength are exactly what Detroit needs opposite Hutchinson in a 4-3 scheme.) (11-19-25):  https://www.espn.com/nfl/draft2026/story/_/id/47000736/2026-nfl-mock-draft-first-round-predictions-32-picks-matt-miller

CBS Renner (18. OG Emmanuel Pregnon:  The Lions want to keep their offensive line a dominant unit, and this is how you do it. Pregnon is having a standout year after transferring from USC. He's only allowed two pressures all season.) (11-17-25):  https://www.cbssports.com/nfl/news/2026-nfl-mock-draft-thin-qb-class-desperate-teams/

Draft wire Popejoy (24. Detroit Lions - CB Avieon Terrell - Clemson:  The Lions love tough players who do all the little things right and that fits with how Terrell plays football.(11-17-25):  https://draftwire.usatoday.com/story/sports/nfl/draft/2025/11/17/2026-nfl-draft-huge-changes-in-one-round-mock-draft-update/87247778007/

Draft Network Sanchez (24. Matayo Uiagalelei, EDGE, Oregon.  The Detroit Lions attempted to improve their defense by drafting defensive backs a few years ago, and the return on that investment is still unknown. But the Lions’ success defensively still appears to be dependent on Aidan Hutchinson’s ability to impact the game. At some point, the Lions have to give Aidan help at the edge rusher position, and in this mock draft, they do exactly that. Matayo Uiagalelei could be a great complementary piece to Hutchinson and give the Lions a strong one-two punch.) (11-16-25):  https://thedraftnetwork.com/2025/11/16/nfl-mock-draft-2026-november-16

PFSN’s Stats and Insights team (24. Matayo Uiagalelei, EDGE, Oregon:  Matayo Uiagalelei has all of the traits to be a stellar pass rusher in this league, and playing alongside Aidan Hutchinson would certainly help him realize that potential sooner rather than later. He is a perfect fit for a Dan Campbell-led defense, as he has an elite work rate and brings it on every single play. Uiagalelei has four sacks on the season after recording 10.5 sacks last year in his sophomore season. 56.  Kayden McDonald, DT, Ohio State:  I expect the Lions to fortify their defensive line with both of their first two picks, as they are pretty strong in most other aspects of the game. Kayden McDonald is a large man who utilizes his size as an effective run defender, taking on offensive linemen and regularly bringing them to the ground. He has also been used as a goal-line fullback, and I can definitely see the Lions having fun with that.) (11-15-25):  https://www.profootballnetwork.com/nfl-3-round-mock-draft-november-weil/

CBS Edwards (25. Matayo Uiagalelei EDGE:  Josh Paschal and Marcus Davenport just haven't been able to stay healthy. The situation is reminiscent of San Francisco, where the 49ers cycled through free agents for years before finally investing premium draft capital at the position. Matayo Uiagalelei can be Detroit's version of Mykel Williams.) (11-11-25):  https://www.cbssports.com/nfl/draft/news/2026-nfl-mock-draft-three-qbs-top-5-surprise-no-1-pick/

SN Iyer (20. Cashius Howell, EDGE, Texas A&M (6-2, 248 pounds):  Howell's explosiveness and relentlessness wreaking havoc would make him the perfect fit to match the playmaking energy of just-extended Aidan Hutchinson.) (11-6-25):  https://www.sportingnews.com/us/nfl/news/nfl-mock-draft-2026-saints-jets/8fc2413f9c162434f52e1e2f

Athletic Baumgartner (23. Matayo Uiagalelei, edge, Oregon:  The Lions could look for offensive line help in the first round (either tackle or interior O-line), but a long-term answer opposite Aidan Hutchinson still remains at least a possibility.  Uiagalelei, yet another young Oregon defender, has the ability to convert speed to power while playing multiple spots up front. He’d be a perfect Hutchinson complement.):  https://www.nytimes.com/athletic/6780201/2025/11/06/nfl-mock-draft-2026-jets-cowboys-arvell-reese/

PFF Sikkema (21. Detroit Lions: Edge Keldric Faulk, Auburn:  Faulk is a sure-fire future NFL contributor; the question is just how valuable his skill set will be. The conversation with him will be similar to that of Mykel Williams last season: great in run defense (85.2 PFF run-defense grade) but leaves a lot to be desired as a pass rusher (9.8% pass-rush win rate). Some teams will value his frame, strength and high floor. Others might see only the limited pass-rush ceiling. I could see the Lions targeting him, given his play strength.) (11-5-25):  https://www.pff.com/news/draft-2026-nfl-mock-draft-post-trade-deadline-edition

FanDuel Swaim (21. T.J. Parker, EDGE, Clemson:  What do you give a team that has it all? The Detroit Lions really just need health more than anything on defense.  Depth wouldn't hurt, either, and T.J. Parker would be an outstanding compliment to Aidan Hutchinson for a Detroit D that already generates plenty of pressure. Parker is probably the most disappointing preseason Clemson prospect with just 2.0 sacks this year after 11.0 in the Tigers' ACC-winning season a year ago, but Dabo Swinney's bunch has infrastructure issues that are well-known at this stage.  The pre-draft process will be vital to sorting out a gaggle of EDGEs behind Bain Jr., and Parker is still in that mix.) Lions Players Absolutely Loved Dan Campbell Giving Out Unexpected Game Ball:  https://www.si.com/nfl/lions-players-loved-dan-campbell-giving-out-unexpected-game-ball

Micah Parsons Tops List of Best NFL Closers (Aidan Hutchinson, Detroit Lions - Hutchinson came up short against the Packers, but he helped close the door on the Cowboys on Thursday night. According to Next Gen Stats, he had 10 pressures in the game and seven in the fourth quarter. Hutchinson has 10 more pressures in the fourth quarter than any other player this season.  For the Lions to reach the playoffs, they’ll need more out of their defense and that starts with Hutchinson. Detroit’s D ranks No. 16 overall; it has struggled lately. But against the Cowboys, Hutchinson helped create opportunities for the rest of the defensive line and they sacked Dak Prescott five times.  Last year Hutchinson appeared to be on his way to winning Defensive Player of the Year before breaking his leg. His injury gutted the Lions’ Super Bowl chances. Now they have major health issues on offense. Which means more pressure on Hutchinson and a defense that needs to step up, starting next week with a challenging matchup against the Rams.):  https://athlonsports.com/nfl/micah-parsons-best-nfl-closers-packers-bonitto-bosa-anderson-verse

‘Pure Robbery’ — NFL Analysts, Players Slam Refs for ‘Trying To Keep the Cowboys out of the Playoffs’ With Shocking Call:  https://www.profootballnetwork.com/robbery-nfl-analysts-players-slam-refs-cowboys-shocking-call/

NFL Game Recaps: Week 14, 2025 (Lions 44, Cowboys 30:  Dallas entered this game as one of the hottest teams in the NFL. Nearly 80 percent of the public was on the Cowboys, but perhaps expectations were high even though they were 3.5-point underdogs. The Cowboys were dreadful on both sides of the ball in a must-win game against the Lions. The incompetence of the Cowboys’ defense can be seen on the scoreboard. The Lions did whatever they pleased offensively. It helped that Amon-Ra St. Brown was a surprise active, but Jared Goff torched Dallas’ secondary mercilessly. This was more apparent than ever when the Cowboys trimmed the margin to 37-30 at the very end. The Cowboys needed a stop without three minutes remaining, but on second-and-long, Goff ripped a long connection to St. Brown to effectively ice the game.  No one would have been shocked by the Cowboys struggling defensively, but the offense was a mess as well, despite the 30-point output. Dak Prescott was pressued heavily throughout the game. He took four sacks and constantly had defenders flood his backfield. He nearly took a safety on one play early in the game. Meanwhile, his teammates made mistakes. Jake Ferguson lost a fumble and was flagged for offensive pass interference. George Pickens had the ball deflect out of his hands for an interception. Ryan Flournoy, who enjoyed a great game, had the ball ripped out of his hands on the final real play from scrimmage, which turned into an interception. This was a painful loss for the Cowboys, who weren’t even guaranteed a playoff spot if they ran the table. They’ll need lots of help in the final four weeks of the season.):  https://walterfootball.com/nflreview.php

PFF Grades and Data: Key insights for the Week 14 NFL games (Dallas Cowboys @ Detroit Lions - Thursday Night Football will showcase two of the league’s most dynamic wide receivers this season. For Dallas, George Pickens has been playing at an elite level in his first year with the Cowboys. His 18 contested catches are tied for the most in the NFL, and his 19 missed tackles forced lead all wide receivers.  On the other side, Jameson Williams is coming off the best game of his young career in Week 13 against Green Bay, posting career highs in receiving yards (144), yards after the catch (86) and missed tackles forced (4).  Now in his fourth season, Williams has become a far more explosive threat with the ball in his hands. He has already set single-season highs in missed tackles forced (10) and yards after contact (138), and his 8.8 YAC per reception is the best mark of his career. His improved ability to create after the catch has added a dangerous new dimension to Detroit’s passing attack.):  https://www.pff.com/news/nfl-pff-grades-and-data-key-insights-for-the-week-14-nfl-games

NFL Week 14 Preview: Schedule, storylines, matchups to watch and betting spreads (Dallas Cowboys vs. Detroit Lions (-3).   Storyline of the game: The Cowboys and Lions are both getting desperate - The preseason expectations for the Lions, even in a post-Ben Johnson and Aaron Glenn world, were high. The Lions (92.6 grade; 3rd) have one of the best rosters in the NFL, but currently sit 7-5 after an inconsistent campaign and are on the outside of the playoffs looking in. Meanwhile, the Cowboys (80.3 grade; 11th) have turned their season around in the last three weeks, but it might be too little too late.  Both teams are clawing to make the postseason, but a loss for either team practically ends its hopes. The Lions have a 44% chance of making the playoffs, while the Cowboys have 21% odds. Only one team can win, but both teams are in go mode.  Matchup to watch: Cowboys T Nathan Thomas vs. Lions EDGE Aidan Hutchinson - Given that the Cowboys will be without Tyler Guyton (58.1 grade; 60th) for the second straight game, it’ll be up to 2024 seventh-round pick Nathan Thomas (45.4 grade) to deputize. Thomas has allowed three pressures in 66 pass-blocking snaps in the last two weeks and has been surprisingly assured in pass-protection, earning a 70.1 PFF pass-blocking grade.   Things will get more difficult for Thomas in Week 14, as he takes on Lions star Aidan Hutchinson (90.5 grade; 4th). Hutchinson has been a pressure machine in 2025, leading all defenders with 71, while his 10 sacks are top 10 at the position.  Additional News: Lions T Penei Sewell (shoulder) is questionable. Cowboys CB Trevon Diggs (concussion/knee) was designated to return from injured reserve but has been ruled out.):  https://www.pff.com/news/nfl-week-14-preview-schedule-storylines-matchups-to-watch-and-betting-spreads

Eleven outrageous Next Gen Stats entering Week 14 (4. Jahmyr Gibbs Sonic-ism:  Another player in the Thursday Night Football game this week, Jahmyr Gibbs has continued to make history. He joined Barry Sanders as the only players to have at least 1,200 scrimmage yards and 10 rush touchdowns in three career seasons before turning 24. Gibbs speed has lived up to his Sonic moniker: he has three of the six carries that reached 22-plus miles per hour and has accounted for three of the four highest ball carrier speeds this season. Number 0 has accounted for three of the four fastest ball carrier speeds this season.  8. Clutch Pass Rushers: Will Anderson Jr. and Aidan Hutchinson:  Aidan Hutchinson and Will Anderson Jr. have some things in common. Both were top three picks in their respective drafts, and both rank in the top three in quarterback pressures this season. Hutchinson is second with 65 this season, while Anderson is third with 62. However, it’s when they’ve affected the passer that has mattered most. Anderson has 36 pressures on third down this season, nine more than the next closest player, Myles Garrett (27). Anderson also leads the NFL with 3.5 sacks on third down in the fourth quarter. Hutchinson leads the NFL with 32 pressures in the fourth quarter this season, only five shy of the most in a season in the Next Gen Stats era (Trey Hendrickson, 37 in 2024).):  https://www.nfl.com/news/outrageous-next-gen-stats-entering-week-14

One reason for hope for seven NFL teams on bubble of playoff picture (Detroit Lions (7-5) - Playoff chances: 37.8%.  They can still move the ball with the best of them. It's not that Detroit isn't racking up the yards and points; the Lions rank third in both categories, ahead of title favorites and potential No. 1 seeds like the Green Bay Packers, Los Angeles Rams and New England Patriots. The fundamentals and trenches just haven't been nearly as solid, leading to iffier results on coach Dan Campbell's notorious fourth-down efforts. We're not counting out home run hitters like Jahmyr Gibbs, and we've seen Campbell turn adversity into improved focus before.):  https://www.cbssports.com/nfl/news/nfl-playoff-picture-reasons-for-hope-bubble-teams-2025/

3 NFL teams that cannot afford to lose in Week 14 (Detroit Lions - The Lions enter this week third in the NFC North and are the first team outside of the playoffs if they were to start today. With two teams ahead of them in the division and the three teams already at nine wins in the NFC West, the 7-5 Lions will need to play their way into the postseason with some wins, so right now, a loss could be fatal to their playoff hopes. This week, they get the 6-5-1 Dallas Cowboys on Thursday Night Football, which should prove a winnable game.):  https://touchdownwire.usatoday.com/story/sports/nfl/touchdown/2025/12/04/three-nfl-teams-that-cannot-afford-to-lose-in-week-14/87596735007/

QB Rankings:

A New No. 1 Emerges in Our 2025 NFL QB Rankings (7. Jared Goff, Detroit Lions - Last ranking: 7.  The Lions aren’t having the year they were hoping for, but that’s not because of Goff. The quarterback ranks eighth in EPA (+45.3) while throwing for 3,025 yards and 25 touchdowns against five interceptions. Goff has also been an asset, whether facing the blitz or just a four-man rush, posting a +3.4 CPOE versus the former and a +2.5 opposing the latter.):  https://www.si.com/nfl/2025-nfl-qb-rankings-matthew-stafford-drake-maye-battling-for-mvp
