This minicamp will be especially valuable to Haloti Ngata, who has struggled in adjusting to a role that requires him to attack rather than occupy blockers like when he played end in Baltimore’s 3-4 scheme. The Lions also need another 4-3 defensive tackle to step up and replace Nick Fairley, who, like Suh, left Detroit in free agency during the offseason. Tyrunn Walker, Caraun Reed and rookie Gabe Wright are battling for Fairley’s vacated space. The starting left end spot on the opposite side of Ziggy Ansah is up for grabs as well.
