QB Index, Week 1: Aaron Rodgers poised for MVP run (5.  Matthew Stafford:  Detroit's offensive line and running game look a whole lot better on paper. The receiver crew is deep, and there is tremendous continuity with coordinator Jim Bob Cooter, who's been in place since the middle of the 2015 season. The trendy "Matt Stafford could be an MVP candidate" talk sounds like a first cousin to the dearly departed "Jay Cutler could be an MVP" narrative, but this season sure does shape up well. ):  http://www.nfl.com/news/story/0ap3000000958545/article/qb-index-week-1-aaron-rodgers-poised-for-mvp-run

QB Rankings: Rodgers rules (9.  Stafford:  Nine is also the round where you can draft Stafford in fantasy for some reason. No one wants to love this guy but he's in the middle of a more mature and efficient third phase of his career.):  https://www.cbssports.com/nfl/news/nfl-qb-power-rankings-week-1-which-young-qbs-will-leap-into-elite-category-this-year/

PFF Press Pass – NFL previews for every matchup during Week 1 (Lions secondary looking to ruin the debut - In his first start, Darnold will be going up against a Lions team that graded as the 24th best unit in coverage last season at 68.2, but he will need to be aware of six-year veteran Darius Slay lurking in Detroit’s secondary. Slay is a playmaker that ranked first among cornerbacks with 21 combined interceptions and pass breakups last season and allowed a career-best 55.6 passer rating on throws into his coverage. Darnold will be the second-youngest quarterback ever to start an NFL game, and his ability to handle regular season game speed against elite opposition will be something to witness on Sunday.):  https://www.profootballfocus.com/news/pff-press-pass-nfl-previews-for-every-matchup-during-week-1

Ranking NFL Backup Quarterback Situations From Best to Worst (28 Detroit (Matt Cassel): This marks the 10th anniversary of Tom Brady snapping his ACL, Matt Cassel coming off the bench, almost getting benched, but leading the previous year’s 16-0 team to a 11-5 record and no playoffs, and getting rewarded with a big contract in KC. He’s 36 now,  and has had six straight years where he’s started less than 9 games (but at least one game in each) and will be on his 6th team in that time.):  https://thebiglead.com/2018/09/06/ranking-nfl-backup-quarterback-situations-from-best-to-worst/4/

32 Notes, 32 Teams: Welcome to the 2018 NFL Season (Detroit Lions: You may not have heard of Quandre Diggs before the Lions signed him to a three-year, $20.4 million extension a couple days ago, but he has the full attention of the new coaching staff in Detroit. When I was there, they were still trying to figure out the corner and safety spots, and Diggs’ versatility, I was told, allayed a lot of concerns because it put the coaches in better position to just play their best four (or five in nickel) in the secondary. And now you see how Matt Patricia valued that.):  https://www.si.com/nfl/2018/09/06/nfl-2018-season-kickoff-news-notes-game-plan
