2019 NFL Mock Draft - Charlie Campbell (5. DT Ed Oliver: I have Oliver going lower than the consensus, which stems from conversations with team sources who have seen Oliver in person. They say that he is weighing in at 275 pounds and has played as heavy as 282. The Houston staff thinks that 285-290 pounds is too heavy for Oliver. Sources say that Oliver is not Aaron Donald and that such a comparison is completely off because Oliver doesn't have nearly the same strength as Donald. Donald has great strength, while Oliver lacks it. Sources say Oliver is a lot smaller than people think, and they feel general managers are going to pause when they see how light and short he is. Oliver is extremely fast, and a very twitchy athlete with a good motor and the ability to get after the quarterback. However for the NFL, he is vastly undersized and really is the size of a defensive tackle designated pass-rusher - DPR. He could be limited to being a three-technique in a 4-3 defense due to not having the length or weight for a 3-4 defensive line position. Thus, some sources think Oliver could end up being a mid-first-round pick rather than a high first-rounder. Oliver has 54 tackles with 14.5 tackles for a loss, three sacks, one forced fumble and two passes batted on the season. In 2017, he totaled 73 tackles with 16.5 tackles for a loss, 5.5 sacks, three passes batted and two forced fumbles. The 6-foot-1, 290-pounder dominated at the point of attack in 2016, starting from his debut game against Oklahoma. He was impressive in his play against Notre Dame left tackle Mike McGlinchey, the ninth-overall pick in the 2018 NFL Draft and one of the 49ers' starting tackles. As a freshman, Jackson made 8.5 sacks. 81. S Marvell Tell: The Lions grab a young safety to eventually replace Glover Quin. In 2018, Tell totaled 56 tackles with one interception and five passes batted. He disappointed as senior with some missed tackles, and not making plays in coverage. Tell was a solid defender for the Trojans in 2017, totaling 85 tackles with two passes broken up and three interceptions. He contributed 43 tackles as a sophomore and 36 as a freshman. Walter Football 2019 NFL Mock Draft (5. Detroit Lions - LB Devin White: The Lions have one of the worst linebacking corps in the NFL. They can't cover anyone over the middle of the field. They need to add a player who can become the leader of their defensive unit at the position. If they do so, perhaps they'll finally be able to compete with some of the top teams in their division. DE Brian Burns: The Lions don't really have much of an edge threat outside of Ziggy Ansah, who barely plays. They'll need to upgrade this area during the 2019 offseason. Brian Burns needs to bulk up quite a bit, as he played at 220 pounds as a freshman, but he has a long frame, so he has the potential to fill out. He had 9.5 sacks as a freshman. 81. CB Sean Bunting: The Lions have glaring issues in their secondary, as they need help at cornerback across from Darius Slay.
