PFN Jones (32. Landon Jackson, EDGE, Arkansas: The Lions need to find a pass-rushing partner for Aidan Hutchinson. Standing at 6’7” and weighing 280 pounds, Landon Jackson possesses the physical attributes necessary for success in the NFL. With consecutive seasons of 6.5 sacks at Arkansas, the Razorbacks edge rusher showcases a strong motor, active hands, and intense physicality. Those traits combine well with his impressive size.) (12-14-24): https://www.profootballnetwork.com/2025-nfl-mock-draft-december-jones/
Walter football Charlie (32. Bradyn Swinson, DE, LSU: The Lions add an edge rusher to go with Aidan Hutchinson and Za’Darius Smith. The 6-foot-4, 250-pound Swinson is a tough defender at the point of attack. He is strong to shed blocks and has the speed to run around the corner. In 2024, Swinson has 54 tackles, 8.5 sacks, and two forced fumbles. At 6-foot-4 and 250 pounds, Swinson is not big, but he has some size to him, and he could play in a 4-3 or 3-4 defense. Swinson looks like a future NFL starter who could be a first- or second-round pick next April. 64. OG Donovan Jackson: The Lions could use some youth at guard and Kevin Zeitler is entering free agency. The 6-foot-4, 300-pound Jackson has been a tough blocker for the Buckeyes over the past few seasons. He is reliable to open holes in the ground game and does a steady job of protecting his quarterback. Jackson shows good enough feet and athleticism to handle speed rushers with the strength in his base to anchor against bull rushes. Jackson looks like a safe pick to turn into a solid pro starter.) CBS Edwards (32. DE JT Tuimoloau: The Lions are well-positioned next season with Za'Darius Smith and Aidan Hutchinson, but next season will likely be Smith's last in Detroit. The Lions can develop JT Tuimoloau in the wings and give him free rein once Smith is gone.) Draft Tek (32. DE J.T. Tuimoloau: The Detroit Lions' roster construction has been nearly impeccable, but their injury luck on defense this season has been terrible. Both starting edge rushers are gone for the season, along with three key linebackers and a number of rotational depth players in the front 7. The team is soldiering along and keeping Super Bowl dreams alive with a growing squad of castoffs and Practice Squad callups, but a D Line makeover seems to be in order for this off-season. Unless a favored prospect slides into trade-up range, look for Best Available Edge here. Rush linebacker Kyle Kennard has been a stalwart in South Carolina's surprisingly strong run this year. While he does not yet qualify as a technician, he has burst, power and quick hands to win in pass rush and protect the edge on running plays. The Lions' emphasis on complementary football up front - and relentless motor guys - would seem to be a good fit for Kennard. Check out the Lions' full draft haul at the Lions Team Draft Page. --Jud Branam, Lions Analyst. 64. DT Alfred Collins. 131. S Sebastian Castro. 195. S Xavier Watts. 228. OG Joshua Gray. 249. Athlonsports Easterling (32. Jack Sawyer | EDGE | Ohio State: This defensive line has been ravaged by injuries all season long, none more impactful than the broken leg that sidelined Aidan Hutchinson for the majority of the season. Even when everyone's healthy again next year, the Lions will need an upgrade across the line from Hutch, and Sawyer has the well-rounded skill set and experience to be the perfect fit.) Fox sports Rang (32. Detroit Lions (8-1): Jack Sawyer, DE, Ohio State - Even before the tragic injury to star pass rusher Aiden Hutchinson, Sawyer likely would have been a favorite of Lions’ GM Brad Holmes and head coach Dan Campbell, as he plays with the hustle, desire and instincts they crave. Sawyer isn’t the flashiest athlete – which is why some scouts see him as more of a Day Two candidate - but he’s battle-tested and dependable.) SI Flick (32. Lions Biggest needs: Edge, WR, CB - The pick: Landon Jackson, Edge, Arkansas. The Lions are winners of 11 consecutive games, and losing star pass rusher Aidan Hutchinson to a season-ending leg injury hasn’t derailed Detroit’s immediate success. However, the Lions need another piece opposite Hutchinson, and the 6'7", 280-pound Jackson makes plenty of sense. His frame, physicality and consistent production over the past three seasons at Arkansas have him firmly in the first-round mix. He totaled 9.5 tackles for loss, 6.5 sacks, 38 pressures and eight quarterback hits this year.) (12-11-24): https://www.si.com/nfl/2025-nfl-mock-draft-first-round-predictions-every-team
Walter football (32. Detroit Lions: J.T. Tuimoloau, DE: The Lions acquired Za’Darius Smith, but they need another edge rusher for the long term. J.T. Tuimoloau has flashed some great pass-rushing potential, but must be more consistent. 64. Detroit Lions: Donovan Jackson, G: The Lions are great because of their offensive line. They could stand to add a young guard to eventually take over for one of the veterans. Donovan Jackson is a tough blocker with upside.) (12-10-24): https://walterfootball.com/draft2025_1.php
CBS Renner (32. LB David Walker: Lions GM Brad Holmes has been excellent not only with his top picks, but also digging deep for hidden gems. David Walker doesn't quite qualify as "hidden" considering he's put up 30 sacks the past three seasons, but even that doesn't explain his dominance. He's an unrepentant bully on tape who could create so many opportunities for others on the Lions front with his ability to push the pocket.) PFN Gosling (32. Shemar Stewart, EDGE, Texas A&M: Aidan Hutchinson was leading the NFL in sacks and pressure rate when he fractured his tibia and fibula in Week 6. While he will be ready for the 2025 campaign, the Lions have to add more help around the former No. 2 overall pick. Marcus Davenport suffered a season-ending triceps injury in Week 3 and is on an expiring deal. Levi Onwuzurike has split time between DT and DE to account for Huthcinson’s absence, but he’s also a pending free agent. Acquiring Za’Darius Smith from the Browns was smart, but he’ll be 33 years old next season and in the final year of his contract. As a proactive athlete, it’s unfair to have Shemar Stewart’s blend of length, explosiveness, and density. He’s a 6’6”, 290-pound lab-built creation with untapped potential as a pass rusher and an athletic profile we haven’t seen since J.J. Watt. That’s not to say he’ll be Watt; that would be reckless. But he converts speed to power at an outstanding rate, and that is as translatable to the NFL level as pure juice and bend are. He also provides interior alignment versatility, and he’s even no stranger to dropping into coverage.) (12-10-24): https://www.profootballnetwork.com/2025-nfl-mock-draft-december-gosling/

CBS Wilson (32. DE Jack Sawyer: Jack Sawyer is listed at 6-foot-5 and 260 pounds and is coming off a five-sack 2024 season that includes 28 hurries. Used almost exclusively off the edge for the Buckeyes, he flashes the speed-to-power of a first-round pass rusher who is also stout setting the edge in the run game.) Draft Network Harms (32. Detroit Lions - Mike Green, EDGE, Marshall. Coming off of an injury, Aidan Hutchinson will need a partner in crime to terrorize opposing quarterbacks. Mike Green is an explosive, bendy athlete with a variety of pass-rush tools at his disposal. He'd be fun across from Hutchinson.) (12-8-24): https://thedraftnetwork.com/2024/12/08/nfl-mock-draft-2025-december-nfl-week-14
SN Iyer (32. J.T. Tuimoloau, EDGE, Ohio State (6-4, 270 pounds): The Lions will keep an eye on Sawyer, too, but this Buckeyes' teammate keeps rising and would be a great complement for stud Michigan man Aidan Hutchinson.) PFN Infante (32. Detroit Lions Jonah Savaiinaea, OT/OG, Arizona: The Detroit Lions already have a loaded offensive line, so it could be surprising to some to see them take a lineman in Round 1 of the 2025 NFL Draft. As fantastic as Kevin Zeitler has been at guard this year, though, he’s 35 years old in March and hits free agency that same month. Jonah Savaiinaea has starting experience at right guard and both right tackle spots, and I project him to kick inside in the NFL. He has a sturdy frame with low pads and a wide base. His athleticism for a tackle is average, but he’s more than functionally quick enough to thrive athletically along the interior. Whether you keep Zeitler around for 2025 or not, Savaiinaea would be the future for Detroit at guard in this instance.) (12-7-24): https://www.profootballnetwork.com/2025-nfl-mock-draft-jacob-infante-december/
CBS Brockermeyer (32. DE Landon Jackson: Jackson has improved steadily each season and has a massive frame that fits well on the edge but also allows for versatility to kick inside. He's long, possesses a strong pass-rushing repertoire, and plays with a relentless motor. Jackson's toughness aligns perfectly with the Lions' culture, making him an ideal fit for Detroit.) USA Today Middlehurst-Schwartz (32. Detroit Lions – Jack Sawyer, DE, Ohio State. After watching its edge rush be wiped out by a rash of injuries, Detroit surely won't want to be caught shorthanded again next season. Relying on hustle and physicality rather than speed and flexibility, Sawyer sizes up as a true Dan Campbell defender.) Athletic Brugler (32. Detroit Lions: Jihaad Campbell, LB, Alabama: With his do-everything skill set, Campbell’s effectiveness will be limited only by a defensive play caller’s lack of imagination. The Lions likely will have greater needs this offseason, but it wouldn’t be surprising if Dan Campbell bangs the table for this type of talent — if the Alabama product is still on the board this late in Round 1.) PFF Sikkema (32. Detroit Lions: OT Grey Zabel, North Dakota State - This pick feels quintessentially Brad Holmes and Dan Campbell. Kevin Zeitler and Graham Glasgow are nearing the twilight of their careers, and while Frank Ragnow’s toughness has kept him on the field, he’s dealt with a series of injuries over the last five years. Enter Zabel, who embodies the grit and resilience Detroit values. A three-time state champion in high school and a standout at FCS powerhouse North Dakota State, Zabel plays tackle but likely projects to move inside, similar to Graham Barton. With NFL-caliber grip strength, football IQ, mobility, and toughness, Zabel is the perfect fit for the Lions’ trenches and screams “Detroit Lion.” 64. Draft Network Eisner (32. Detroit Lions - James Pearce Jr., EDGE, Tennessee. Lions fans are definitely sick of reading this, but it doesn't make it any less true: Aidan Hutchinson needs a running mate. James Pearce Jr. entered the season as the potential EDGE1 in the class but hasn't quite put it all together yet. Pearce Jr. has some things he needs to work on defending the run, but he's a stud on passing downs with the ability to make a major year-one impact.) Yahoo Tice/McDonald (32. Detroit Lions — J.T. Tuimoloau, Edge, Ohio State. The Lions could go down a few paths here, maybe adding another offensive lineman to maintain their elite play in the future. Instead we go with Tuimoloau, a tough, pocket-pushing edge player who is productive against the run and pass. He fits the Lions' personality perfectly and would be another strong player upfront with Alim McNeill and Aidan Hutchinson.) PFN (32. Detroit Lions Princely Umanmielen, EDGE, Ole Miss: If it feels like we’ve been down this road before with the Detroit Lions, it’s because we have. Princely Umanmielen plays with a little more natural strength than Julian Okwara, but he wins with similar explosiveness and bend. However, we’ve spent years waiting for Umanmielen to assemble it. While he appears to have put together a nice package late in his collegiate career, that late breakout also makes his projection at the next level a bit muddy. 64. Detroit Lions Kyren Lacy, WR, LSU: Kyren Lacy is a lot like the Rebels’ Harris, but with even less explosive potential and with an even clearer picture given the more complete route tree he’s asked to operate. Lacy built an immediate intimate rapport with Garrett Nussmeier, to the point where the inexperienced quarterback practically started forcing him the ball early in the season. 131. Detroit Lions

PFF McGuiness (32. Detroit Lions: EDGE LT Overton, Alabama - Another popular projection in mock drafts will be an edge defender for the Lions, who traded for Za’Darius Smith following Aidan Hutchinson’s early-season injury. Draft Network Fowler (32. Detroit Lions
Tyler Booker, OG, Alabama: Detroit has done a nice job replacing Jonah Jackson with Kevin Zeitler in free agency, but the former is 34 and on an expiring deal. In this spot, the team adds Tyler Booker, an elite-level athlete who can distort the line of scrimmage due to his hands and powerful lower half. He's not the sexy pick, as rumors continue to connect the Lions to a pass-rusher here, but the player, scheme, and mentality fit a Dan Campbell-type of ballplayer.)
