2025 NFL Draft: Ranking all 32 rookie classes; plus, overall grades, favorite picks and Day 3 sleepers (GRADE: B--. Brad Holmes mostly ate his vegetables over draft weekend, fortifying both lines with the kind of blue-collar bullies Dan Campbell adores. But midway through Day 2, Holmes got a hankering for something more exotic, flying up the draft board 32 slots to grab size/speed receiver Isaac TeSlaa. A Michigan native who spent his first three college campaigns at Division II Hillsdale College before logging two seasons at Arkansas, TeSlaa received a lot of late buzz in this draft cycle as an athletic freak with untapped potential. But the price Detroit paid to make the aggressive move (two 2026 third-round picks) led many Lions fans to ask a question that seems to pop up in the middle rounds of every draft: Is Brad Holmes feeling himself too much? Given the GM’s sparkling track record in Detroit, it’s probably safe to trust his impulses. But it will be interesting to see what comes of the bold decision in an otherwise-prosaic prospect haul.  FAVORITE PICK - Tate Ratledge, offensive guard. After the free agency departure of right guard Kevin Zeitler, Detroit has an opening on its program-defining offensive line. Christian Mahogany showed promise in a pair of spot starts at guard last season, but the 2024 sixth-round pick isn’t exactly a proven commodity. So, Detroit scooped up a mustachioed, mulleted mauler who started 37 games at right guard for Georgia. Seems wise.  SLEEPER - Miles Frazier, offensive guard. Ranking 2025 NFC Draft Classes: Giants Get Upside, Seahawks See Immediate Boost (10. Detroit Lions  
Grade: B-.  The Lions’ draft class wasn’t well received by the football public because they didn’t add many recognizable names. But it fits the DNA of the team, which loves to add tough, physical players in the trenches. Williams was regarded as the best run stopper in the draft, but he’ll need time to develop as a pass rusher. Ratledge could fill in at guard and make up for the loss of Kevin Zeitler this offseason. NFL Trade and Cut Candidates: 1 Player Who Is Expendable On All 32 Teams After the 2025 Draft (Detroit Lions: DT Levi Onwuzurike - Although edge rusher might loom as a bigger need, the Detroit Lions now have plenty of beef on the interior of the defensive line. First-round DT Tyleik Williams profiles as a plug-and-play option from Day 1. D.J. Reader and Roy Lopez are reliable veteran run-stuffers as well, while big edge rushers like Brodric Martin and Josh Paschal can kick inside on passing downs. Levi Onwuzurike fits that big edge prototype as well, but he could get squeezed out in a numbers game. The former second-rounder hasn’t quite met the expectations many had for him when he entered the NFL, though he did tie for the team lead with 45 pressures last year. Still, that wasn’t enough to earn a multi-year deal in free agency, with Onwuzurike re-signing on a one-year, $4 million contract.  That’s modest enough to make him a trade candidate, given that he was solid in a rotational role in 2024 and has pedigree as a high draft pick. The only question is the recovery timeline from Alim McNeill, as the Lions may not want to leave themselves short-handed on the interior if McNeill is expected to miss most of 2025.
