The biggest remaining roster hole for every NFL team: Where all 32 could still upgrade (Detroit Lions - Position of need: Edge rusher depth.  After all the injuries they suffered last season, it was a surprise that the Lions didn't draft an edge rusher until Ahmed Hassanein in the sixth round. Can the Lions keep an edge rusher rotation healthy behind Aidan Hutchinson -- assuming Hutchinson himself can stay healthy?  Marcus Davenport has played only six games the past two seasons. Al-Quadin Muhammad is 30 years old, though he had three sacks in nine games in 2024. Josh Paschal has only five sacks in three seasons. Players who have a chance to become the best at their positions in 2025 (LB Jack Campbell, Detroit Lions. The Lions’ defense dealt with a wave of injuries to several key players in 2024, but linebacker Jack Campbell managed to stay healthy and took a major step forward after a rocky rookie season. His 78.7 overall grade ranked 10th among linebackers last year.  Campbell’s grading profile was weighed down by two rough outings against Houston and Buffalo. Post-NFL draft breakout candidates for all 32 teams (DETROIT LIONS: CB Terrion Arnold - Arnold’s rookie year did not go as planned for a former first-round pick, though it’s not often easy for any rookie cornerback to come into the league and immediately start shutting down NFL talent. Arnold still allowed just a 61.2% reception rate when targeted, a top-25 mark among 73 qualifying cornerbacks. NFL bandwagons to hop on in 2025: Patriots, Bears, Cardinals ooze intrigue; Cam Ward offers thrill ride (THE INDIVIDUALS - Jahmyr Gibbs:  The 2023 first-round pick has earned Pro Bowl honors in each of his first two NFL campaigns, leading the league in touchdowns this past season. Yet, it still feels like seats remain available on this bandwagon. Maybe it’s because Gibbs’ 2024 effort was overshadowed by the high-profile work from a couple of tenured RB luminaries (Saquon Barkley and Derrick Henry) in a resurgent year for the position. But the Lions star left us with a staggeringly productive stretch in his final four games:  Week 16 at Chicago: 23 rushes, 109 yards, 1 TD; 4 catches, 45 yards.  Week 17 at San Francisco: 18 rushes, 117 yards, 1 TD; 4 catches, 46 yards.  Week 18 vs. Minnesota: 23 rushes, 139 yards, 3 TDs; 5 catches, 31 yards, 1 TD.  Divisional Round vs. Washington: 14 rushes, 105 yards, 2 TDs; 6 catches, 70 yards.  Now, it should be noted that Gibbs received an increased workload during that period, due to David Montgomery’s MCL injury in Week 15. “Knuckles” should be back to full health this fall, but I won’t be surprised if “Sonic” establishes himself as more of the 1A in this dynamic duo. NFL's top 10 passing trios: Where do Cowboys rank after trading for George Pickens? (3. Detroit Lions: QB Jared Goff, WRs Amon-Ra St. Brown and Jameson Williams.  A 1,000-yard receiver for the first time last season, Williams has steadily ascended since entering the NFL. The 2022 first-round pick and St. Brown, an All-Pro each of the past two seasons, form one of the elite receiving duos of the present and future. 2025 NFL Season: Ranking Every NFC North Roster (1. Detroit Lions:  The Lions have a few roster holes, but the abundance of All-Pros and Pro Bowlers makes these concerns minor.  For example, the lack of depth and consistency behind Amon-Ra St. Brown at wide receiver is rarely a problem for this explosive offense because of playmaking tight end Sam LaPorta and the running back tandem of David Montgomery and Jahmyr Gibbs. And there aren’t many answers for slowing this offense when speedy wideout Jameson Williams is producing, though he tends to go quiet in stretches. Perhaps Williams has turned a corner when it comes to consistency and availability after playing 15 games and delivering his first 1,000-yard season in 2024.  There are a few unknowns at guard for one of the better offensive lines in the league the past few seasons with the departure of Kevin Zeitler and Graham Glasgow possibly having to compete for his job. Second-year player Christian Mahogany and second-round rookie Tate Ratledge are in the mix for starting at guard. Center Frank Ragnow and tackles Penei Sewell and Taylor Decker continue to play at a high level.  How the defense does may depend on how quickly Aidan Hutchinson and Alim McNeill return to full strength from their respective injuries. There are depth issues at edge rusher, but the team did add first-round rookie Tyleik Williams, possibly the best run stopper in the draft. There’s plenty of depth at linebacker with Alex Anzalone, Jack Campbell, Derrick Barnes and Malcolm Rodriguez. The secondary essentially swapped Carlton Davis III for D.J. Reed, who could have a heavy workload if 2024 first-round cornerback Terrion Arnold doesn’t rebound from a rocky rookie season.
