He was also beaten (not badly, but enough) in man coverage a few times, including on what amounted to Ezekiel Elliott’s game-winning 34-yard catch. That man coverage will only continue this week; it’s what Matt Patricia likes and it’s how defenses often approach Green Bay’s offense. NFL.com Harrison's NFL Week 5 game picks (Green Bay Packers 28, Detroit Lions 24: The Packers win, narrowly. Every time you think Detroit is going to lose, they win. If the Lions are to prevail over their division rivals, they must run the football. Why make a defense that struggles to stop opposing passers stay on the field for 10 possessions or more? Shorten the game and play to your strengths. I also harped on this in the Power Rankings this week. Let me just support this argument by pointing out that, though Detroit does have the second-ranked passing defense in terms of yards, the Lions have allowed quarterbacks a 104.2 passer rating. That's awful. They succeeded in making Cowboys QB Dak Prescott look good, and that's hard to do. With Packers defensive lineman Muhammad Wilkerson out for the year, Detroit should test that Green Bay front. But I think Matt Stafford, who has had success against the Packers in the past, will also get his yards. This will be fun to watch, but Rodgers will get the best of it.): https://www.cbssports.com/nfl/features/writers/prisco/picks

SN Iyer's Picks (GB at Detroit: The Packers are itching to get their running game going and this is a perfect opportunity for bigger returns from Aaron Jones to make it easier for Aaron Rodgers to pick apart the Lions’ back seven. With Randall Cobb (hamstring) and Geronimo Allison (head) hurting, it will be a simple approach with Jones, Jamaal Williams and Davante Adams. The Lions will bring it at home to make it interesting in a high-scoring game, but Rodgers makes one more big play than Matthew Stafford. PICK: Packers win 31-27 and cover the spread.): http://www.sportingnews.com/us/nfl/news/week-5-nfl-picks-predictions-point-spreads-odds-lines-eagles-vikings-jaguars-chiefs/1avtjgggpqbml1v4vns8lg9ji0
CBS Wilson's Picks (Green Bay at Detroit: Is there a bigger enigma than the Lions? They were blown out by the Jets, never really had a chance to beat the 49ers, then manhandled the Patriots before falling to the Cowboys last week. At 1-3, they're in last place in the division and given how the perennial basement-dwelling Bears are now playing, we don't see the Lions changing their station anytime soon. The good news is that Detroit beat Green Bay twice last season. The bad news is that Brett Hundley was the quarterback both times. Pick: Packers 30, Lions 21): https://www.cbssports.com/nfl/news/nfl-week-5-odds-picks-eagles-expose-vikings-d-texans-outlast-cowboys-steelers-edge-falcons/
SN Steele's Picks (Green Bay Packers (2-1-1) at Detroit Lions (1-3) (Sunday, 1 p.m., Fox): The Lions have had chances to win each of their last three games, and have won just one of them (against the Patriots, of course, which makes perfect sense). Clearly the Lions faithful are willing to give Matt Patricia the immediate benefit of the doubt they never gave Jim Caldwell. The Packers are the best example of why the NFC North is wide-open: even beating down the Bills last week failed to inspire widespread faith in them, or in how healthy Aaron Rodgers is going forward. The Lions winning would get them back into the hunt. Prediction: Packers, 23-19): http://www.sportingnews.com/us/nfl/news/nfl-picks-predictions-week-5-patriots-colts-falcons-steelers-packers-lions/11oc1v96cibev1rx86aow522wy
NFL RealGM (Green Bay Packers at Detroit Lions (+1.5): The Lions swept the Packers last season, but Aaron Rodgers did not play in either game. As long as Rodgers is merely hobbled and not sidelined, Detroit is unlikely to extend the winning string in the series. I’d feel better about the Lions chances at home if they weren’t so inexplicably terrible (a league-worst 33 percent TD rate) in the red zone. The Lions passing offense will keep this one close and gives Detroit a chance for a game-winning Matt Prater 55-yard field goal attempt. 2018 NFL Rookie Rankings through Week 4 (8. DA’SHAWN HAND, DI DETROIT LIONS (PFF Overall Grade: 81.5): Hand currently ranks 17th out of 117 qualified defensive interiors in terms of overall grade, and he’s been a steady presence for the Lions’ defensive line, scoring overall grades of at least 77.6 in three of their first four games. The fourth-round pick out of Alabama had his best game as a pass-rusher in Dallas this past weekend, tallying two pressures (including one sack) and stripping Dak Prescott with just two minutes to go in the fourth quarter as the Lions attempted to stop a Cowboys comeback.): https://www.profootballfocus.com/news/pro-2018-nfl-rookie-rankings-through-week-4
Brandt: Seven best rookie-vet duos in first quarter (7. Kerryon Johnson and LeGarrette Blount, Detroit Lions running backs: Based on what he did at Auburn, you knew Johnson could run. So it wasn't that shocking to see him become the Lions' first 100-yard rusher since 2013 in Detroit's Week 3 win over the Patriots. What has surprised me is Johnson's ability to catch the football. In college, he never caught more than 24 balls in one season; through four games as a pro, Johnson has 11 catches already. He's also contributed two 20-plus-yard runs, which is a promising sign. Johnson looks like he'll be a perennial 1,000-yard runner who can help you in pass protection, as a receiver and with the ball in his hands. He shows some vision as a runner -- I saw him make a play the other day where, with the hole jammed up, he bounced it outside and made a nine-yard gain out of a run that was going nowhere. To be perfectly frank, Johnson is why this tandem is listed here. But while Blount obviously has plenty of miles on his legs, is on the wrong side of 30 and hasn't produced much of note on the field this season, he's a good locker-room person who can help show Johnson the way.): http://www.nfl.com/news/story/0ap3000000969774/article/top-rookieveteran-duos-calvin-ridley-julio-jones-dazzle
