Walterfootball QB Rankings (Jake Rudock, QB, Michigan - Height: 6-3. Weight: 208. Projected 40 Time: 4.91. Projected Round (2016): FA. 4/25/16: Rudock played at Iowa for a few seasons before transferring to Michigan for his senior year. He had a solid final season and was a functional game manager for Jim Harbaugh. In 2015, Rudock completed 64 percent of his passes for 3,017 yards with 20 touchdowns and nine interceptions. He was a smart quarterback, but lacks the arm or athleticism to be rated higher. He didn't work out at the combine. Rudock did not impress at the East-West Shrine practices. He wasn't horrible, but he looks like an undrafted quarterback who will compete as a training camp to be a team's third quarterback.) (4-25-16): http://walterfootball.com/draft2016QB.php

Michigan QB Jake Rudock turned a lot of heads at pro day (Quarterback Jake Rudock -- 6-foot-3, 207 pounds -- turned a lot of heads today with his pro-day workout. Rudock ran the 40-yard dash in 4.85 and 4.91 seconds. He had a 29-inch vertical and 9-foot-3 broad jump. He did the 20-yard short shuttle in 4.31 seconds and the three-cone drill in 7.06 seconds. Michigan's passing game coordinator/quarterbacks and wide receivers coach Jedd Fisch -- who is a future head coach at the college level -- had a scripted workout for Rudock, and let the scouts on hand know ahead of time what throws would be involved so they could follow along. Rudock had a good, not great, arm. He was very accurate in his pro-day workout.) Round-by-round ranking of 2016’s best NFL QB prospects (Jake Rudock, Michigan: We’re still working through our re-watch of Rudock, but his trend is one of the most interesting in the country. Through week nine, he was the 44th-ranked QB in the draft class at -13.5, but from week 10 and on, his +24.0 grade led all QBs in the class. Head coach Jim Harbaugh has lobbied hard for Rudock behind the scenes, and he’ll be one to watch during the draft process.) 2016 NFL Combine: 10 surprise invitations and 10 snubs (Snub: Jake Rudock, Michigan - A passer who gained confidence with each snap, Rudock doesn't have ideal physical traits, but the game appeared to slow down for him in the second half of the season. Yes, his tools are average-at-best, but his intelligence and intangibles will give him a chance.) Roundup: Locals play in East-West Shrine game, NFLPA bowl (Michigan’s Jake Rudock started at quarterback for the East and shared playing time with Stave and Massachusetts-Amherst’s Blake Frohnapfel. Each of the East quarterbacks was intercepted once, while throwing for a combined 117 yards. Rudock was 8 of 14 for 77 yards, but threw a fourth-quarter interception to stop one promising drive, and another possession inside the West 20 stalled on downs.) What we learned on Day 3 (10. Are you serious? Michigan QB Jake Rudock played on what had to be one of the most talented high school teams ever assembled at Ft. Lauderdale Aquinas High. He had two NFL receivers to throw to (Jacksonville Jaguars rookie Rashad Greene and Indianapolis Colts first-round pick Phillip Dorsett), and Cincinnati Bengals RB Giovani Bernard sharing his backfield. As if that wasn't enough pro talent, Rudock also played with Cody Riggs, Brandon Linder, James White, LaMarcus Joyner, and -- oh yeah -- one of the 2016 draft's elite prospects in Ohio State DE Joey Bosa.) East Practice Notes (I would love to say that between Blake Frohnapfel, Joel Stave and Jake Rudock we were able to see a clear pecking order in terms of accuracy and effectiveness at running the offense, but this was not necessarily the case. None of the quarterbacks made it through the day clean. Rudock threw an interception during scrimmage to Boston College safety Justin Simmons, while Joel Stave threw what should have been an interception to Terrance Smith, and Frohnapfel threw an ill-advised seam pattern against cover three that was nearly picked off by two defenders simultaneously. None of the three looked particularly compelling on the day. On the bright side, all of the quarterbacks seemed generally able to complete passes in simple drills as receivers ran patterns against air.) Shrine Game: Practice Winners From The First Two Days (Jake Rudock, QB, Michigan--As I’ve said before, if you would have told me in October that I would be trumpeting Jake Rudock as a viable NFL commodity, I’d have spit-taked whatever was in my mouth out violently in laughter. The Iowa transfer was the sole reason Michigan’s offense struggled early in the season. But then he got it together and thrived under Jim Harbaugh, improving his ball placement and playing with confidence. Those latter attributes are definitely on display at Shorecrest Prep Academy, where the East practices. He’s also shown a better arm than I witnessed even in seeing him in person twice last fall. There is real zip to his shorter and intermediate throws, and while his deep throws lack arc when he guns it, they are more on target than his East QB mates Blake Frohnapfel (who has been okay) and Joel Stave (who has not). Then there is the intangibles, oen fo the biggest reasons why it’s important to come to events like this. Rudock is a natural leader; guys want to follow him. He quickly mastered the offense and helps line up those who aren’t quite so proficient, much to QB Coach Brady Quinn’s liking. Rudock fantastic with the fans, too, signing pictures and autographs once most other players are already on the team bus. There are still warts, enough that I doubt he’s ever more than a capable No. 2, but the league is crying for smart, dependable, no-drama backup QBs.) East Roster Preview (2. Jake Rudock, Michigan: The former Iowa transfer
developed substantially in his one season with Jim Harbaugh, especially
in pocket maneuvering and timing in reads. Though he wasn’t often
displaying ideal placement, particularly on vertical throws, he
epitomized “good enough” for a Michigan offense that relied on their
defense. His footwork development, pocket maneuvering and relatively
safe style of play could make him a possible late-round pick.)

10 Players to Watch At Shrine Game Practices (Jake Rudock, QB, Michigan: If you would have told me even in October that I would be excited to watch Jake Rudock audition for the NFL in an all-star game, I’d have told you to pass what you’re puffing. I mean, Iowa willingly let him transfer within the same conference. Early in the season, it looked like the Hawkeyes made a good decision as Rudock was wildly off target on deeper throws and felt the pressure a little too quickly. Then Harbaugh happened. Rudock got better every week, a lot better in several facets. The errant deep balls started to connect as he figured out the timing with his wideouts. His ball placement, his release platform, his confidence in his pre-snap defensive evaluation all improved. When I saw him live against Rutgers, it almost looked like he was playing 7-on-7 spring ball; he was so in command of both the offense and the defense. The arm has always been there. So has the leadership and character. In St. Pete we will see just how much of the improvement was tied to Jim Harbaugh’s omnipresent tutelage and how much is Rudock himself. The guy I saw against Rutgers at the Big House, as well as watching games against Indiana, Penn State and a very talented Florida defense, is no worse than a fifth-round pick.) Michigan-Florida grades: QB Jake Rudock picks apart Gators defense (What a day from QB Jake Rudock (+6.8). His offensive line was strong, as he was only under pressure on just 18 percent of his dropbacks. Rudock picked the Gators apart when he had a clean pocket, completing 18-of-26 for 262 yards and three touchdowns. Rudock was fantastic when targeting receivers at least 10 yards downfield, completing 9-of-12 for 190 yards and a touchdown, including a perfect 3-of-3 on deep passes (20+ yards). Rudock had some help from WR Jehu Chesson (+3.1) who caught four of six targets for 112 yards and a touchdown, 81 of those yards coming after the catch.) 5 crazy good stats in college football (Jake Rudock (QB, Michigan) is the most accurate quarterback in college football when facing pressure: Even after Iowa coach Kirk Ferentz announced that Rudock would be replaced by C.J. Beathard as the starting quarterback last winter, the Hawkeyes were surprised when Rudock decided to transfer to Michigan. There was a feeling that he would get a chance at some point to reclaim the starting gig. Rudock saw an opportunity to compete for the Wolverines starting quarterback job and jumped. It proved to be the right decision. Beathard has led Iowa to a 12-0 record, a potential playoff berth and earned a grade of +16.7 through thirteen weeks. Rudock has regressed slightly from +5.4 last season to +2.7 this season, but was able to hold on to the Michigan starting job all season. The way Beathard has played, Rudock would have been holding the clipboard all season at Iowa. Even though Rudock has had an underwhelming season, he has one thing going for him. He leads the country in accuracy under pressure at 71.4 percent. That’s especially surprising considering he was ranked 40th last year in the same category at 56.8 percent. It’s not a small sample size either. Only nine quarterbacks have had more snaps under pressure than Rudock. After being slammed to the ground by Joey Bosa last week, Rudock is nursing a sprained AC joint in his non-throwing shoulder. He should be healthy in time for Michigan’s bowl game.) Michigan-Penn State grades: Wolverines’ defense dominates (Quarterback Jake Rudock (-1.3 game grade) came into the day coming off his best two starts this season (he led the nation in our PFF QB grades the last two weeks), but against the Nittany Lions he had a mixed day. When he was not under pressure he was very consistent, going 19 of 26 with 217 yards and a PFF grade of +2.0. However, the storyline was flipped when the Nittany Lions’ pass rush got to him; he was pressured on 15 dropbacks, and on those he only completed 50 percent of his passes for 39 yards and a QB rating of 22.6 and a -2.0 PFF grade.) Prospects to focus on (One of the most improved players this season has been redshirt senior QB Jake Rudock (6-2, 208, 4.86, #15) with back-to-back games over 300 yards and at least 71-percent completions. He set a new school record with six touchdown passes last week and is playing with supreme confidence, trusting his arm and eyes. His poise will be tested in this match-up against Penn State's defensive front, led by redshirt senior DE Carl Nassib (6-6, 270, 4.74, #95), who leads the FBS in sacks (15.5), and redshirt junior DT Austin Johnson (6-3, 325, 5.27, #99).) Stock Report: From tight end to left tackle, Indiana's Spriggs continues to grow (Indiana ranks near the bottom of the FBS in total defense so it's not surprising that Michigan scored 48 points on Saturday, but the performance of redshirt senior QB Jake Rudock (6-2, 208, 4.86, #15) was a surprise as he finished with a school-record six touchdown. A graduate transfer this season from Iowa, Rudock looks like a different passer from the quarterback we saw in September as he's clearly more confident and comfortable within the Wolverines' offense, trusting his arm, mind and teammates. His development is directly translating to more points for Michigan and scouts have taken notice. Like Stanford's Kevin Hogan, Rudock has gone from afterthought to possible draft pick in terms of his NFL future.) Michigan-Indiana recap: Rudock posts another monster grade (Jake Rudock (+9.2) is finally playing like the guy we saw last year at Iowa. After grading negatively in seven of his first eight games, Rudock has put up back-to-back monster grades, albeit against Rutgers and Indiana. That bodes well for the final two games that are crucial in deciding the Big Ten title game. On Saturday he did his best work down the field — on throws targeted 10+ yards downfield, Rudock was accurate on 16-20 targets for 341 yards.) Michigan-Rutgers grades: Jake Rudock has best game of season (QB Jake Rudock (+4.6) had his best game of the season by a wide margin, just the second time that he has earned a positive grade this season. He finished 9-of-11 for 212 yards, 2 touchdowns and a +3.5 grade on passes thrown 10-plus yards. Rudock was pressured just nine times, but was 7-of-8 for 138 yards and a +1.5 grade on those plays. TE Jake Butt (+2.5 receiving grade) was Rudock’s top target.) (11-8-15): https://www.profootballfocus.com/blog/2015/11/08/michigan-rutgers-grades-jake-rudock-has-best-game-of-season/

7 things you need to know in college football (1. Jake Rudock’s poor play hurt Michigan’s College Football Playoff hopes. The Michigan defense has been on another level this year, with standouts on the defensive line in Chris Wormley (+25.3) and Maurice Hurst (+25.8), at linebacker in Desmond Morgan (+17.0) and at cornerback with Jourdan Lewis (+16.7). Before the loss to Michigan State they had posted three straight shutouts and yet, with Jake Rudock’s (-20.9) struggles at quarterback, they find themselves on the outside looking in when it comes to the College Football Playoff picture. Our seventh-lowest graded player at the system, he has graded positively just once all year.) MSU-Michigan grades: Cook continues to impress (In a direct contrast to the Spartans’ signal caller, Michigan quarterback Jake Rudock (-3.0) struggled once again. He brought his grade down to -20.9 on the year, and didn’t look great even when he was completing passes. On 3rd-and-9 with 5:42 left in the third quarter, he underthrew wide receiver Amara Darboh on a go route, turning a potential touchdown into a play where the receiver had to save the reception.) Utah-Michigan grades: Bad start for Jake Rudock (It was not the dream debut for QB Jake Rudock (-4.5), as he took the field for his second Big Ten school with a three-interception performance. Two touchdowns helped to balance the books for Rudock, who had some bright moments, but a bad pick-six and missed opportunities to exploit breakdowns in the Utah secondary were pivotal in the outcome of the game.) NFP's Top Guards ( Joe Dahl – Washington State: Another player with position versatility. He has started games at both tackle and guard but it has been two seasons since he last played inside. Dahl measures 6037 – 301 with 32.75” arms, so with that frame there is no way that he will play outside in the NFL. Dahl is very strong and physical and plays at a high level of intensity. He is easily athletic enough to play in space and adjust on the move. Joe plays a physical style game, always looks to finish blocks and also had a strong week at the Senior Bowl. In the run game, he has some snap through his hips and though he isn’t the biggest guy, he can play with power. Projected Round (2016): 3-5.): 4/26/16: Here's how one scout summarized Dahl in one of our Scuttlebutt articles, "He has starting potential. Nice player. Athletic, but lacks strength. He could be a poor man's [David] Bakhtiari." That summary was put on display at the Senior Bowl as Dahl was overpowered by a lot of defensive linemen. He struggled all week with the talented all-star defensive lineman. Dahl looked like he should move inside to guard in the NFL. He also has short arms to be an edge blocker as a pro. Dahl had a decent showing at the combine, but he still should move to guard in the NFL. Dahl broke into the lineup as a sophomore starter at guard, but he played left tackle for Washington State for the past two seasons. In the Cougars' offense, Dahl got a lot of preparation for blocking in pass protection on the edge.) (4-26-16): http://walterfootball.com/draft2016OG.php
NFL Draft News and Notes (Washington State offensive lineman Joe Dahl is building some momentum for himself and there’s a belief he could land in the second day of the draft. Ranking the best offensive tackles in the 2016 NFL draft (Day 3 - Joe Dahl, Washington State: One of the most experienced pass protectors in the country over the last two seasons, Dahl is also one of the most efficient. The left tackle had 1,382 pass blocking snaps over the past two seasons (Ronnie Stanley didn’t miss a game and took 871 for comparison) and finished in the top 25 for pass blocking efficiency nationwide both years (13th in 2015). Dahl is undersized though with strength concerns to boot. Some see him as a guard at the next level, but his power issues were only exacerbated while playing there at the Senior Bowl. Dahl’s change of direction ability is top notch and has enough tools to be a competent pass protector in the NFL.) Ten most underrated offensive prospects in 2016 NFL Draft (Joe Dahl, OG, Washington State: Dahl (6-4 1/8, 304, 5.11) is one of my favorites in this draft. I like players who transfer up (think J.J. Watt); Dahl spent his freshman year at Montana before transferring to Wazzu, where he was a three-year starter at left guard and left tackle. He could play multiple positions at the next level, including center, but I think guard is his best position. He's strong (28 bench reps). Some team will draft him in the second round; others will wish they had.) (3-21-16): http://www.nfl.com/news/story/0ap3000000646037/article/ten-most-underrated-offensive-prospects-in-2016-nfl-draft

NFP's Top Guards ( Joe Dahl – Washington State: Another player with position versatility. Had foot surgery following the eighth game but came back to start in Washington States Bowl game.): http://www.nationalfootballpost.com/the-top-guards-in-the-2016-nfl-draft/

2015 Senior Bowl Practice Report (Michigan center/guard Graham Glasgow was one of the stars of the East-West Shrine, and he had a respectable first day at the Senior Bowl. He split one-on-one pass-rushing reps with Louisville defensive tackle Sheldon Rankins. When Rankins used a speed rush to try to run by Glasgow, the Wolverine just pummeled him into the turf with authority. On the rematch, Rankins burned Glasgow with a spin move. Still, it is impressive for a center to be able to block a defensive tackle in one-on-ones as centers are typically helping to execute a double team on a sub-package interior rusher. Glasgow is having a tremendous postseason to set his draft stock on fire.) (1-26-16): http://walterfootball.com/seniorbowl2016practice.php

Senior Bowl Preview: Players To Watch (Graham Glasgow, OL, Michigan--Glasgow earned a call-up from the Shrine Game, thanks in part to a fantastic first two days of practice in St. Pete when several NFL GMs and high-ranking scouts were watching. Hopefully they stayed tuned in, because in Wednesday session he struggled more with the quick power of guys like Javon Hargrave and Tevin Coley. In the actual game, Glasgow didn’t play well either, though it was hard to notice with the quarterbacks behind him being so abysmal. The guy we saw in St. Pete on Monday and Tuesday will do well in Mobile, too. He’s tall for an interior lineman at 6’6” but he kept his weight low and showed strong hand placement and shoulder torque while engaged. His agility is above average. The guy from Wednesday and from the game, the one who played too high and couldn’t sustain blocks or recover quickly enough when bested, will dampen any potential bump from the 6th-7th round status he appeared to hold in December. I watched every snap of Michigan football (7 times in person) over the last three years and Glasgow was that guy a lot more often than he was the buzz-worthy player from early last week.) 2016 Shrine Game: Five prospects who created buzz among NFL scouts (Graham Glasgow, C, Michigan (6-6, 310): The resurgence of the Michigan program under coach Jim Harbaugh not only resulted in more wins, but also a rebirth for several Wolverine prospects, including Glasgow. A three-year starter at Michigan, he blossomed into a legitimate NFL prospect this past season and carried that momentum into Shrine practices. Glasgow showed a quick snap-and-step first move with the body control and base to hold his ground in pass protection. As a run blocker, he showed range up and down the line of scrimmage, breaking down on the move and using his hands to overwhelm defenders. Glasgow has terrific awareness to advance his eyes to the second level, finding his next victim to peel, stack and create running room between the hashes. What we learned Monday at East-West Shrine Game practice (2. Reviews glow for Glasgow. After Michigan pounded Florida, 41-7, in the Citrus Bowl on New Year's Day, coach Jim Harbaugh told reporters that center Graham Glasgow, a former walk-on, would not only play on Sundays but had a chance to be drafted on a Thursday. "Graham Glasgow, what an amazing player," Harbaugh gushed. "He could be a first-round pick, the way he played, the way he's played all year." No doubt, Harbaugh was using coaching hyperbole. But Glasgow did stand out on Day 1 of practice, catching the eye of NFL Media draft analyst Mike Mayock. "He was the guy who really stood out to me," Mayock said. "It's a strong year for centers, but he looks like an NFL starter. Very strong. He could compete at the Senior Bowl." Seniors Ryan Kelly of Alabama and Nick Martin of Notre Dame are considered the top two centers in this year's draft, followed by another 7-8 with draftable grades. Glasgow now should be firmly in that latter category, and could move up to mid-round status as the draft process continues. He's off to a good start, and it never hurts to have guys like Harbaugh and Mayock in your corner.) What we learned Monday at East-West Shrine Game practice (2. He's off to a good start, and it never hurts to have guys like Harbaugh and Mayock in your corner.) Pauline's Shrine Game Preview: Monday (Graham Glasgow/C/Michigan: Glasgow lined up at center for most of the day and was dominant on just about every snap. He controlled the line of scrimmage and manhandled everyone he faced. Glasgow out-muscled big defensive tackles and at the same time engulfed the smaller, quicker opponents who tried to run around him. It’s very rare when a center grades as the top prospect during a post season All Star game but that’s exactly what scouts are saying about Glasgow.) The problem is that Decker flat-out wasn’t anything special in pass protection the previous two seasons. Besides playing in an offense that rarely asks him to take true pass sets and protected their offensive line, Decker still was 79th nationally in pass-blocking efficiency. The junior averaged six yards per carry for 282 yards with four touchdowns on the year. He had 25 receptions for 315 yards with three touchdowns as well. As a sophomore, Washington averaged 5.3 yards per carry for 697 yards with nine touchdowns. Washington had a minor knee injury late in the 2015 season that required surgery. He did the short shuttle in 4.24 seconds and the three-cone in 6.9 seconds. He performed 21 reps on the bench press. His positional workout was good, but his hands weren't and had some dropped passes.) Washington Pro Day (Running back Dwayne Washington tested well. Measuring 6010, 223 pounds, he timed 4.48 in the 40, 6.90 in the 3-cone and completed 21 reps on the bench. The junior started six games last season and missed four with a knee injury. He does not have a big body of work, but when on his game, Washington's film was impressive in 2015.) Dwayne Washington, Washington RB: NFL Draft 2016 (3-20-17): http://www.cleveland.com/nfl-draft/index.ssf/2016/03/dwayne_washington_washington_r.html
No good option at running back for Washington Huskies (The Washington Huskies released their Week 1 depth chart, with both Dwayne Washington and Lavon Coleman listed as starting running backs. Last season the Huskies used a rotation at running back with four running backs totaling over 100 snaps. Most expected Dwayne Washington to be in the lead role this season on his own, however, that may not be the best option for the Huskies. Dwayne Washington graded as the 217th (out of 227) running backs in 2014, partly due to producing only 2.2 yards after contact — in the bottom half for running backs with 25 percent of the carries.) (9-1-15): https://www.profootballfocus.com/blog/2015/09/01/no-good-option-at-running-back-for-washington-huskies/
2016 NFL Draft: Washington has talent, but can't match 2015 crop (Dwayne Washington, RB, Redshirt Junior, 6-1, 221, 4.53: At this point, Washington isn't even assured of a starting role but given the way in which he finished last season, he appears to be a legitimate breakout candidate for the Huskies. The Huskies struggled to find a suitable replacement for Tennessee Titans' 2014 second round pick Bishop Sankey and ultimately turned to Washington, a former wide receiver who caught fire late last year, rattling off three consecutive 100+ yard games against Arizona, Oregon and Washington State to end the regular season. The 383 combined yards (and five rushing touchdowns) Washington ran for in those three games were more than half of the 697 yards and nine scores he registered for the year. Frankly, Washington still looks like a wide receiver as he possesses a tall, athletic build and very long legs for the running back position. Though his long legs would theoretically seem a hindrance, Washington has a galloping gait that allows him to build up to top speed quickly. Washington doesn't waste much time dancing in the hole, typically hitting it aggressively or trying to stretch the play out wide and using his speed to out-run oncoming defenders. Despite his height, Washington does a nice job of running through contact, showing impressive balance and a fierce stiff-arm to fight off would-be tacklers. With even more uncertainty at quarterback than running back, the Huskies are likely to attempt to run the ball often in 2015. Washington flashes the big play potential to be the team's new workhorse and if successful could emerge as a legitimate NFL prospect.) He did the short shuttle in 4.24 seconds and the three-cone in 6.9 seconds.
Dwayne Washington graded as the 217th (out of 227) running backs in 2014, partly due to producing only 2.2 yards after contact — in the bottom half for running backs with 25 percent of the carries.) 2016 NFL Draft: Washington has talent, but can't match 2015 crop (Dwayne Washington, RB, Redshirt Junior, 6-1, 221, 4.53: At this point, Washington isn't even assured of a starting role but given the way in which he finished last season, he appears to be a legitimate breakout candidate for the Huskies. Washington flashes the big play potential to be the team's new workhorse and if successful could emerge as a legitimate NFL prospect.) 20 biggest bargains from the 2016 NFL Draft (6. A'Shawn Robinson to the Lions with the 46th pick: Detroit needed help up front and the Lions did very well here. He could've gone 25 picks higher. He's a powerful 320-pounder who just turned 21 (even though he looks 40) and made some good strides in the past year according to folks inside the Alabama program. He also does have some pass-rushing potential and comes from a winning program. 17. Miles Killebrew to the Lions with the 111th pick: Really athletic kid from Southern Utah. Has great closing speed and just obliterates people. Never lifted weights in high school but certainly blossomed in college.): http://www.foxsports.com/nfl/story/nfl-draft-bargains-best-buy-laremy-tunsil-jaylon-smith-myles-jack-braxton-miller-050116
