Week 10 Picks

CBS WEEK 10 PICKS Breech: Stafford, Lions shock Bears - Matthew Stafford improves to 10-1 in last five years vs. Bears, Panthers-Steelers is a thriller, and all of John Breech's picks. (Detroit (3-5) at Chicago (5-3):  I have to be honest, I can't remember the last time the Bears played in a somewhat important game this late in the season. For the past five years, the Bears have had a lot in common with actual Bears in the sense that they both basically do nothing once the weather gets cold. Speaking of doing nothing, that's exactly what the Lions have done in the past two weeks during blowout losses to the Seahawks and Vikings. The Lions season is one loss away from turning into a total disaster.  In the past week alone, we've seen Matt Patricia get mad at a reporter for having bad posture, we've seen the Lions trade away one of their best receivers and we've also seen them fire their special teams coach for no reason. I'm not sure how the coaching responsibilities are divided up in Detroit, but I have to say, the special teams coach is probably the last guy I would fire after watching my offensive line give up 10 sacks like the Lions did to the Vikings on Sunday. It feels like Patricia is getting desperate, but that might be a good thing, because the Lions only seem to win when he's desperate. After the Lions started 0-2, it looked like Detroit's season was on the brink of collapse, but then they upset the Patriots. This week, they get a Bears team that Matthew Stafford has gone 9-1 against over the past five years.  If Khalil Mack was going to be 100 percent healthy for this game, I would pick the Bears because he would probably rack up 10 sacks on his own, but if he plays, I think he'll be slightly hobbled, so I'm taking the Lions.  The pick: Lions 20-17 over Bears):  https://www.cbssports.com/nfl/news/nfl-week-10-picks-lions-shock-the-bears-panthers-and-steelers-play-thursday-thriller/

Chicago Sun-Times Picks (Lions, 17-16; Bears, 23-21; Bears, 24-13; Bears, 21-20; Bears, 20-17):   https://chicago.suntimes.com/sports/bears-predictions-week-10-vs-lions/

CBS Prisco's Picks (Lions at Bears (-6.5)
The Bears are riding high, while the Lions are coming off a bad showing against the Vikings. Matt Stafford was sacked 10 times, so the Bears front has to be salivating to get after him. Chicago hasn't exactly beat up a lot of good teams to get to first place, so this won't be easy. But they will find a way late to pull it out.  Pick: Bears 24, Lions 21):  https://www.cbssports.com/nfl/news/pete-priscos-week-10-picks-steelers-edge-panthers-banged-up-bengals-keep-it-close-vs-saints/

CBS Wilson's Picks (Detroit at Chicago (-6.5):  The Lions fired special teams coordinator Joe Marciano this week, following the team's loss to Minnesota where the Vikings had one kick return for 15 yards and a punt return for 24 yards ... all while Detroit's offensive line gave up 10 sacks. But sure, blame the guy in charger of the coverage and return teams. First-year coach Matt Patricia, considered a great defensive mind during his time with the Patriots, is in charge of a Lions defense that ranks 31st in the league. The Bears are alone in first place in the NFC North, thanks in large part to the NFL's top-ranked defense. Second-year quarterback Mitch Trubisky hasn't been great -- in fact, he's been downright frustrating to watch at times because of his inconsistency -- but he's been replacement-level this season, 18th overall in terms of value per place, one spot ahead of ... Lions quarterback Matthew Stafford.  Pick: Bears 28, Lions 20):  https://www.cbssports.com/nfl/news/week-10-nfl-odds-picks-steelers-beat-the-panthers-bucs-dump-the-redskins-saints-outlast-the-bengals/

NFL.com Harrison's Picks (Chicago Bears 27, Detroit Lions 17:  Detroit fans want to check the temperature of team brass after the Lions traded for "Snacks" Harrison, then traded away Golden Tate -- and proceeded to listlessly lay an egg in Minnesota. The Bears' defense has been playing at a high level, even without Khalil Mack, and should be able to handle the Detroit offense at their home park. At issue for the Lions and OC Jim Bob Cooter is the inability to develop any kind of sustainable ground attack, departing from their one-dimensional, pass-happy offense only once, in that road win at Miami. As long as Mitch Trubisky protects the football, Chicago wins.):  http://www.nfl.com/news/story/0ap3000000985725/article/nfl-week-10-game-picks-saints-win-again-cowboys-lose-again

SN Iyer's Picks (Detroit Lions at Chicago Bears (-7):  The Bears are good at beating up on bad teams outside of their division, but their struggles to power run the ball and issues in the secondary will allow the Lions to make this game too close for comfort at Soldier Field. Matthew Stafford is trending downward all of a sudden, however, and won’t be able to complete the comeback.  PICK: Bears win 24-20 but fail to cover the spread.):  http://www.sportingnews.com/us/nfl/news/week-10-nfl-picks-predictions-point-spreads-odds-lines-steelers-panthers-bears-lions/1mwep2mtpe8l11f3vyryb1fpwe

NFL RealGM's Picks (Detroit Lions at Chicago Bears (-6.5): The Bears are rightly confident heading into their first NFC North home game of the season, facing a Lions team that has lost two in a row and has looked awful in the process. But the Soldier Field faithful shouldn’t get too chesty. Detroit fans have seen this movie already once this year, and it wound up having an oddly happy ending. After falling to the Jets and 49ers in the first two weeks, the Lions rose up and trashed the Patriots on national TV. Chicago’s offense should be able to outscore an inconsistent Lions squad in the cold outdoors, but the line seems pretty high against a Detroit team capable of beating anyone in between looking like a bottom-5 team.  Bears 33, Lions 28):   https://football.realgm.com/analysis/3094/Football-Meteorology-NFL-Picks-For-Week-10

SN Steele's Picks (Detroit Lions (3-5) at Chicago Bears (5-3):  The Bears can take sole possession of first place in the NFC North with a win, something zero people expected from them this late in the season. It's still not clear whether they can be trusted, but it is clear you can’t trust the Lions. They suffered immediately from the Golden Tate trade in their loss to the Vikings, if only for signaling that they were playing for next year already. The Bears team that smothered and turned over the Bills last week is not the team the Lions need to see now.  Prediction: Bears, 34-14):  http://www.sportingnews.com/us/nfl/news/week-10-nfl-picks-predictions-eagles-cowboys-packers-dolphins-saints-bengals/1nnm2pteuptbo1ps9una9tualn

PFT’S WEEK 10 PICKS (Lions at Bears - MDS’s take: The Lions couldn’t protect Matthew Stafford last week, and the Bears’ pass rush will make life miserable for Stafford again.  MDS’s pick: Bears 24, Lions 14.  Florio’s take: The Bears enter a challenging three-game stretch (Lions, Vikings, at Lions) with perhaps the only win they’ll get.  Florio’s pick: Bears 23, Lions 16.):  https://profootballtalk.nbcsports.com/2018/11/08/pfts-week-10-picks-6/
