Walterfootball Charlie (12. Yetur Gross-Matos, DE/3-4OLB, Penn State:  The Lions could use an edge rusher to go across from Trey Flowers, and this would be a good fit.  In 2019, Gross-Matos has 26 tackles with 5.5 sacks. He enjoyed a breakout sophomore season in 2018, recording 54 tackles for a loss, 20 for a loss, eight sacks and two forced fumbles.  The 6-foot-5, 265-pounder has a lot of upside to improve as he gains more experience. He has the strength and physicality with the quickness to get upfield. Gross-Matos is a good run defender and emerging pass-rusher.  43.  Jeff Gladney, CB, TCU:  Teez Tabor was a bust for the Lions, and they could use more corner talent to go with Darius Slay.  Gladney (6-0, 183) has real cover skills to run with receivers and prevent separation. If he were a little bigger and didn't have off-the-field concerns, he might a first-round pick. Gladney has 26 tackles with an interception and 12 passes broken up this season. CBS Josh Edwards (12. Lions - DE K'Lavon Chaisson:  Chaisson has some question marks when it comes to staying healthy but he looks like a special player when available. The LSU product can create havoc on the edge.) Epenesa, Iowa:  You can never have too many talented players rushing the passer, so I imagine that the Lions will be very interested in a talented player who can do so early in the 2020 NFL Draft.  A.J. Epenesa was a five-star recruit who showed some major promise as a freshman, registering 4.5 sacks. He was excellent in 2018.  43.  Chubba Hubbard, RB, Oklahoma State:  Kerryon Johnson hasn't been able to stay healthy, so I wonder if the Lions would be willing to spend a second-day pick on a running back to complement him.  Chuba Hubbard is projected as a second-round pick. CBS Chris Trapasso (12. Lions - CB Kristian Fulton:  Under defensive-minded head coach Matt Patricia, the quality of Detroit's defense has gone south. Fulton is as sticky of a corner as there is in this class and can make big plays in zone or man.) CBS Ryan Wilson (11. Lions - WR Henry Ruggs:  Regularly the fastest player on the field, Ruggs is a YAC monster who dominates short and intermediate routes and must be accounted for on every play. Marvin Jones and Kenny Golladay both have contracts that expire after the 2020 season.) Draft Tek (11. Lions - LB Isaiah Simmons:  The whole design of the current Detroit Lions is to pair a great defense with a great rushing game, and let Head Coach Matt Patricia's whiz-bang defensive schemery rule the day like a latter-day Steel Curtain. So, as Year 2 of the Matty Patty era circles the drain at 3-5-1, the cement is a litte mushy on the new foundation. The numbers -- 24th in the league in scoring defense, 26th in rushing defense and 28th in passing yards allowed per game - say the talent is not there. The D Line has underperformed, stud CB Darius Slay seems to be talking his way out of town and LB Jarrad Davis, a first rounder in 2017, has been ranked as the worst off-ball backer in the league. Where to begin?  With franchise QB Matt Stafford on the shelf with broken bones in his back (!), the Lions' draft position just figures to get more prime. A big-time get for Patricia's defense could be linebacker/safety Isaiah Simmons, a marvel of versatility and athleticism at Clemson. If Stafford's injury proves career-threatening and the team keeps climbing the draft order, the talk may turn to QB. Until then, Simmons looks like a fit. 43. QB Jacob Hurts.  75.
