NFL Training Camp Tour 2024: What We Learned About Eight Midwest Teams (It’s time for the Lions to break thought, but the secondary …  The last time we saw the Lions, they were leading by 17 points in the third quarter of the NFC championship game. Then the bottom fell out.  Seeing Detroit in person this summer, the talent is overwhelming. The Lions have the league’s best offensive line, a top-10 quarterback in Jared Goff, a quartet of weapons in running backs Jahmyr Gibbs and David Montgomery, receiver Amon-Ra St. Brown and tight end Sam LaPorta.  It wouldn’t be surprising if the Lions score 30 points per game behind offensive coordinator Ben Johnson.  The only real question is the secondary, which for a second consecutive year has been revamped. This offseason, GM Brad Holmes traded for corner Carlton Davis III and then drafted Terrion Arnold and Ennis Rakestraw Jr. in the first two rounds. Arnold will be expected to start immediately alongside Davis on the perimeter, while do-it-all defensive back Brian Branch will play slot and safety.  Detroit has an argument as the league’s most talented team, something Lions fans have dreamt of for decades. Now it’s time to take the next step—advancing to their first Super Bowl.):  https://www.si.com/nfl/nfl-training-camp-tour-2024-what-we-learned-eight-midwest-teams

NFL division supremacy: Ranking all 8 ahead of 2024 season (2. NFC North - Having said all that nice stuff about the AFC North, the NFC counterpart has a great case for the top spot. I see two legitimate Super Bowl contenders here in Detroit and Green Bay, and it goes without saying that Caleb Williams has turned the Chicago Bears into must-see TV. The Vikings might look like an afterthought on the surface, but I think that's premature. Minnesota's got elite offensive talent and a feisty defense. If Sam Darnold can rise to the occasion, this really might be the deepest division in the league.):  https://www.foxsports.com/stories/nfl/nfl-division-supremacy-ranking-all-8-ahead-2024-season

NFL QB Rankings 2024: Josh Allen Rises to No. 2, Brock Purdy Falls out of Top 10 (15. Jared Goff, Detroit Lions - While the Lions and their fans believe Jared Goff is a top-10 quarterback in the NFL, we would strongly disagree.  Goff has improved since his days with the Los Angeles Rams, but he isn’t among the elite quarterbacks just yet. He still struggles against top defenses, which was evident against San Francisco in the 2024 NFC Championship Game.  2023 STATS: 4,575 Passing Yards, 30 Touchdowns, 12 Interceptions, 7.6 Yards Per Attempt, 60.3 QBR):  https://www.profootballnetwork.com/nfl-qb-rankings-2024/

2024 NFL Preseason, Week 3: One thing to watch for on each of the 32 teams (Steelers at Lions - STEELERS: The Steelers’ offensive struggles have been hard to ignore through two games, with only seven first downs and zero points generated from the first team on eight drives. Russell Wilson struggled to get much going in his preseason debut in Pittsburgh, as the offensive line didn’t protecting him well. Justin Fields was only marginally better in Wilson's place. Then Jaylen Warren suffered an injury that could shelve him into the regular season. Penalties also have been an issue. Wilson could have closed the QB competition with a strong performance, but that door appears to remain ajar for now. Who knows how Mike Tomlin will handle this? Will Wilson and Fields have one more preseason duel with which to settle this battle?  LIONS: I’m really interested in seeing who the Lions choose to back up Jared Goff. Although Goff has been a rock, starting 35 straight regular-season games, the Lions need to figure out if Hendon Hooker is up for the job. They can always turn to Nate Sudfeld as QB2 to start out, and keeping three quarterbacks on the initial roster remains possible. But for a team that considers itself a Super Bowl contender, three QBs might be viewed as a luxury. Hooker had his best performance as a Lion last week, completing 12 of 15 passes for 150 yards and running for a score. I’d love to see him receive the lion’s share of the snaps against the Steelers to see if Hooker can win that backup job outright. It will also be one last chance for preseason hero and new fan favorite Sione Vaki to impress and make his case for the opening 53.):  https://www.nfl.com/news/2024-nfl-preseason-week-3-one-thing-to-watch-for-on-each-of-the-32-teams
