Frank Ragnow, Detroit Lions (86.1):  Ragnow has anchored the Lions’ offensive line for many years and continues to be among the game’s best at the position. His 90.9 PFF run-blocking grade ranked second in the league, marking his third season above 90.0.  He earned a pedestrian 65.8 PFF pass-blocking grade, allowing 21 pressures, but that was fueled by two games where he allowed five pressures and another where he allowed 4; otherwise, he didn't surrender multiple pressures in his other 14 games. Highest-graded guards from the 2024 NFL season (3. Kevin Zeitler, Detroit Lions (86.8):  The oldest player on this list (he turns 35 in a few weeks), Zeitler excelled in his first year in Detroit. His 86.8 PFF overall grade was his best performance since he put up an 89.1 number in 2014, while his 87.2 PFF run-blocking grade was a career high. As a pass blocker, Zeitler had an up-and-down year. While he did allow a career-high five sacks, they came on just 18 pressures, which tied for the 19th-fewest among 79 qualifying guards. Penei Sewell, Detroit Lions (89.6):  When he’s not being incorporated into bizarre trick plays, Penei Sewell is the best right tackle in football. 2025 NFL Draft: Best-case scenarios for all 32 NFL teams this offseason (Detroit Lions - Goal: Maintain the status quo despite coaching exodus.  Ideal pick: T/G Grey Zabel, North Dakota State.  Losing one of the best coordinators in the NFL would be a tough challenge for any team to overcome. Losing two would prove insurmountable for a team with a less secured foundation than what Detroit currently has established.  In an effort to keep the train moving in the right direction, the Lions will look to maintain the status quo with new faces crafting the game plan on both sides of the ball. On offense, that means continuing to lean into one of the NFL’s best offensive lines. Biggest Weaknesses for All 32 NFL Teams: Where Every Team Struggled in 2024 (Detroit Lions - Aidan Hutchinson is a phenomenal player, but any defense that operates with essentially a single point of failure is dangerous.  Weeks 1-6: 10.2 yards allowed per completion, eighth fewest.  Weeks 7-18: 12.7 yards allowed per completion, second most.  We saw how quickly things can unravel when this flaw is present during the 45-31 loss to Washington in the playoffs (13.6 yards allowed per completion; that paved the way for 182 yards and three scores on the ground). The Detroit Lions’ offense was as good as any we’ve seen recently, but the ceiling is capped if a defensive floor like this is in play (a little health luck would go a long way, but Hutchinson’s impact far trumps any other player on this side of the ball for Detroit).:  https://www.profootballnetwork.com/every-nfl-team-biggest-weakness-2024/

NFL Team Needs: The Biggest Holes for all 32 Teams Entering Free Agency (Detroit Lions - CB, DT, EDGE, G, WR.  The Detroit Lions 2024 season was a case of close but not quite. Injuries caught up to them in the NFC Divisional Round, and they were able to stop the Washington Commanders’ offense running through them. Those injuries highlighted the importance of having good depth at both EDGE and cornerback to continue shutting down opposing offenses.  With Carlton Davis, Ifeatur Melifonwu, Kindle Vildor, Khalil Dorsey, and Emmanuel Moseley all set to be free agents, the position looks very thin for 2025. Therefore, we could see the Lions addressing the position with a veteran presence in free agency and then adding depth and developmental talent in the draft.  Another place where the Lions could face an exodus this offseason is at defensive tackle. Levi Onwuzurike, Jonah Williams, and Kyle Peko are among five potential free agents, which will leave behind a talented but thin depth chart. Therefore, the Lions will need to consider adding multiple pieces this offseason.  The Lions pass rush will be boosted by the return of Aidan Hutchinson in 2025, but they need more depth behind him, Za’Darius Smith, and Josh Paschal. Having a strong rotation of pass rushers will help hide any concerns that may arise in the secondary.  Offensively, the biggest need is at guard, with Kevin Zeitler set to be a free agent. The Lions may feel they have enough on their roster to cover his departure, but it would not be a surprise to see them bring back Zeitler or sign another veteran guard to keep the line performing highly.
