Biggest bargain contracts of NFL free agency: D.J. Reed, Talanoa Hufanga lead list of best signings in 2025 (Best bargain signings NFL free agency 2025 - D.J. Reed.  Team: Lions.  Contract: 3 years, $48 million.  The Lions did very well for themselves at the cornerback position despite losing Carlton Davis to the Patriots. Detroit brought in Reed for $16 million annually, behind Davis' $20 million and Byron Murphy's $22 million. Even Paulson Adebo received a larger contract and more guaranteed money. Reed was a strong piece of the Jets' secondary for three seasons, grading out highly in coverage and averaging more than 10 pass breakups per year. NFL free agency winners & losers: Patriots, Raiders, Commanders pop; 49ers, Cowboys flop (Losers: Detroit Lions and Green Bay Packers - The Lions did score cornerback D.J. Reed, but it's less effective given the team also couldn't keep cornerback Carlton Davis. Detroit also has been limited in trying to get pass-rush help for the edge or inside. 2025 NFL Free Agency LIVE Deal Grader: Grading and tracking every transaction (DI Roy Lopez signs with Detroit Lions - 2024 PFF Grade: 54.9.  2024 PFF WAR: 0.07.  Contract: 1 year, $4.65 million.  PFF Projected Contract: 2 years, $14 million ($10 million guaranteed).  PFF Deal Grade: Average.  Lopez’s play against the run was all over the place during his two seasons with Arizona, as he graded positively on 18.8% of run plays in 2023 and 2024 while also grading negatively on 19.3%. Walter football (Lions sign DT Levi Onwuzurike (1 year, $5.5 million): A+ Grade.  Based on other contracts we’ve seen, I’m shocked that Levi Onwuzurike didn’t get a massive deal. Onwuzurike doesn’t have much experience, but that can be said of some of the other highly paid defensive tackles. Onwuzurike played well last year, particularly in regard to pressuring the quarterback. He’s 27, so he still has room for growth.
