PFN Infante (28.  Kenneth Grant, DT, Michigan:  Injuries hurt the Detroit Lions’ defense down the stretch, making depth a clear priority this offseason. Their defensive line, in particular, struggled in key games.  Kenneth Grant is a powerful defensive tackle who can eat up double teams and control the line of scrimmage. His combination of size, athleticism, and leverage makes him a disruptive force, and his testing numbers should back up his top-20 potential.  60. JT Tuimoloau, EDGE, Ohio State:  A defensive tackle in Round 1 would help the Lions’ defensive line depth problem, but after releasing Za’Darius Smith, they could use more help at defensive end, too.m I expect both of Ohio State’s starting edge rushers from this year to go within the first two rounds of the 2025 NFL Draft. The departure of Carlton Davis to the Patriots only magnifies that need.  Shavon Revel Jr. is dropping this far due to his recovery from a torn ACL last season. While he may be slow to start the season, once fully healthy, Revel should acclimate quickly. He has elite agility and reaction speed in coverage, and his ball skills and athleticism make him an exciting addition to the Lions’ young secondary.) PFF Chadwick (EDGE Mike Green, Marshall:  The Lions will look to add an edge rusher to pair with Aidan Hutchinson. Green’s 93.6 PFF overall grade over the past two seasons is the highest of any edge defender in this draft. He could go much higher than Pick No. 28 on draft night, but his projection remains cloudy due to two sexual assault allegations — one while he was in high school and one while he was at Virginia — which he addressed at the NFL Scouting Combine.) Walter football Charlie (28. Tyleik Williams, DT, Ohio State:  Detroit takes the best player available and adds to their defensive line. D.J. Reader is in the last year of his contract, Alim McNeill is coming off an ACL, and Levi Onwuzurike will probably leave in free agency.  In 2024, Williams has 38 tackles and 2.5 sacks thus far. Williams can push the pocket with power or speed while also being a stout run defender. Williams flashed interior rush ability in 2021, putting up five sacks and 16 tackles. In 2023, he played solid football, recording 54 tackles, three sacks, and five passes defended. Williams (6-2, 320) made a number of impressive plays against Notre Dame, getting the better of left tackle Joe Alt. Some team sources think Williams is extremely talented and is not getting the attention he deserves.  60.  Landon Jackson, DE, Arkansas:  The Lions could use more rotational edge rush talent and defensive line depth. Plus, Za’Darius Smith, and Josh Paschal will be in the last year of their contracts in 2025. Here’s a rusher to go with Aidan Hutchinson in the long-term.  In 2024, Jackson had 49 tackles, 6.5 sacks, one forced fumble, and three passes broken up thus far. The 6-foot-7, 280-pound Jackson is strong at the point of attack and has good length to keep blockers from getting into his chest. In 2023, Jackson recorded 44 tackles, 6.5 sacks and a pass broken up. He has upside and could be a nice prospect for the 2025 NFL Draft.  127. C.J. West, DT, Indiana:  Detroit could lose some veteran defensive linemen in free agency and it would make sense to add a tackle with D.J. FTW D'Andrea (28. EDGE Landon Jackson, Arkansas - had Jackson at the back end of my first round in my last mock. After running a 4.6-second 40 and posting a 40.5-inch vertical leap, he’s staying there.  Jackson has the bulk and twitchiness to be an asset on the front lines of the Lions 4-3. The 6-foot-6 specimen is long and angular but has a solid bend to keep his pad level low enough to keep his leverage. He's quick and strong and can win inside and out. Now he'd get the chance to clean up the messes Aidan Hutchinson sends him -- and create a few of his own.) He’s the perfect developmental prospect to pair with Aidan Hutchinson and already boasts some of the best run-defending ability in the class. If he can add more juice to his pass rush, he has the versatility and upside to develop into an All-Pro defensive end.) PFN Cummings (28. Walter Nolen, DT, Ole Miss:  The Detroit Lions have the culture to get the most out of anyone, and alongside Alim McNeill, it’s exciting to think about what Walter Nolen could become. At 6’4″, 296 pounds, with solid proportional length and wicked burst, his power is exactly what the Lions need inside.  60. Josh Conerly Jr., OL, Oregon:  Dan Campbell has long subscribed to the idea of “getting your five best linemen on the field.” That’s their philosophy for adding Josh Conerly Jr. — while Conerly can absolutely stick at tackle, his mobility and strong leverage game translate well at guard.  101.  Kevin Winston Jr., S, Penn State:  Alongside Kerby Joseph, Kevin Winston Jr. can be a menacing box safety from Day 1, and at just 21 years old, he has plenty of time to keep growing.  133. DE Mike Green:  OK, so I've had Ohio State's Jack Sawyer here in each of my first two mocks because it seems like a match made in heaven, but Mike Green has a higher ceiling and would be the better value late in the first for a Detroit team that needs a second pass-rusher.) NFL Wires mock draft (28. Derrick Harmon, DT, Oregon:  There were a few very appealing choices here (Jihaad Campbell, Jahdae Barron, Donovan Jackson) but Harmon gets the nod for being exactly what the Lions’ defense sorely needs: someone who can consistently impact the quarterback. Harmon did that very well at Oregon, and he reinforced his high athletic ceiling with an impressive combine, notably in the hoop drill. OG Tyler Booker, OL, Alabama:  This just feels like a Dan Campbell kind of guy, between his leadership qualities to his ability to clear out a gap and then get to the next level with a vengeance. Detroit will have plenty of options to replace Kevin Zeitler, and Booker could be a Pro Bowl-caliber player available in the first round that is plug-and-play.) Yahoo Tice/McDonald (28.  J.T. Tuimoloau, Edge, Ohio State:  There’s something about the pairing of Tuimoloau with Aidan Hutchinson that I like. Tuimoloau is a strong pocket pusher who is effective against the run and pass. He isn’t always the sexiest player, but his strength combined with Hutchinson’s quickness and Alim McNeill on the inside would be a nightmare in the pocket for QBs to navigate.) Detroitlions.com Twentyman (28. Pick: DT Derrick Harmon, Oregon. The Detroit native led all FBS defensive tackles in pressures (55) and recorded five sacks and two forced fumbles. He was one of only two defensive tackles weighing more than 300 pounds to run under five seconds in the 40-yard dash at the Combine. At 6-foot-4 ½ and 313 pounds, he's got unique traits. McNeill and him could be a nice duo inside for a long term in Detroit.  Boston College's Donovan Ezeiruaku could also be interesting as a SAM/Edge prospect here, too.) PFN Decker (28. Donovan Jackson, G, Ohio State:  Dan Quinn and Brad Holmes have done an excellent job building a strong identity for the Lions. They focus on finding smart, tough, and dependable players who align with their culture — and they refuse to compromise.  With Kevin Zeitler potentially leaving in free agency this offseason, strengthening the offensive line has become a top priority, and Donovan Jackson is a perfect fit for Detroit’s culture.  Jackson was arguably the toughest player on the national champion Ohio State Buckeyes. A multi-year starter with positional flexibility, he began the season at guard but moved to tackle after Simmons’ injury. Though he struggled early, Jackson quickly grew into the position and held his own. With great feet, a naturally low pad level, and strong athleticism, Jackson could be an immediate plug-and-play guard in the NFL.  60. Jack Sawyer, EDGE, Ohio State:  Few players in this draft embody the Detroit Lions’ style of football better than Jack Sawyer. He’s tough, gritty, and a true playmaker.  At 6’5″, 260 pounds, he brings relentless passion and physicality. Zabel stood out in the Week 1 opener against Colorado, and his stock has been on the rise ever since. NBC Sports Dvorchak (28. DE Landon Jackson:  Even if a player like Myles Garrett is available, the price might be too steep for the Lions. That leaves them with the draft to add a potential stud to play opposite Aidan Hutchinson. Jackson is a lengthy defensive end who broke out at Arkansas after transferring from LSU. He racked up 13 sacks over his final two seasons and verified his athletic traits with a stellar 9.88 RAS at the combine.) Adding more firepower to this unit makes a ton of sense as we just saw Philadelphia win the Super Bowl with a deep and dominating defensive front.  Kenneth Grant is a mammoth of a man who plays with surprising agility and quickness. He does his best work as a gap-stuffing run defender but has enough in him to penetrate and get to the quarterback. Grant’s presence would surely help alleviate the attention that fellow Michigan Wolverine Aidan Hutchinson receives.) His arms are shorter than expected for someone with a 6-foot-5 frame, and it feels he is mostly viewed as just an outside linebacker speed type. The Lions' goal is the Super Bowl, and in order to get there, they need a defensive front that has the opportunity to be dominant.) PFN DeLeone (28. Tyleik Williams, DT, Ohio State:  The Lions need to find ways to divert attention away from Aidan Hutchinson. This late in the first round, they’ll miss out on drafting the top-tier pass rushers, so finding a behemoth 1-tech is the next best option. Williams is disruptive against the run and has the flexibility to become a productive interior pass rusher as well.  60. Donovan Ezeiruaku, EDGE, Boston College:  In this draft, the Lions can heavily bolster their defensive line by taking Tyleik Williams and adding a secondary pass rusher in Donovan Ezeiruaku. As one of the most productive pass rushers in college football last season with 16.5 sacks, he’s shown active hands and great use of leverage to win reps. 101. Dylan Fairchild, IOL, Georgia:  Detroit’s identity under Dan Campbell has been mauling offensive linemen opening up rushing lanes for their elite duo or running backs. Given Brad Holmes and Dan Campbell’s long view on team building, however, mortgaging the future in a blockbuster deal seems unlikely. That extends to man coverage, where Morrison plays on the front hip. While that allows nuanced receivers with brakes to snap off routes back to the QB on him, Morrison’s feel for route depth and receiver tells keeps him tight and prevents big plays with consistency.) PFN Rolfe (28. Tyleik Williams, DT, Ohio State:  There is some uncertainty over how the Detroit Lions will evolve after losing both their coordinators this offseason. However, we know Dan Campbell’s mantra is to dominate the trenches and have everything flow from there. Therefore, with Levi Onwuzurike set to be a free agent, spending a first-round pick on Tyleik Williams could give them an instant starter.  Williams boasts impressive mobility, strength, and a dominant physical profile, flashing pocket penetration, pass-rush moves, and block-shedding ability. Inconsistency has been the biggest knock on him in 2024, but in a defense alongside Alim McNeill and D.J. Reader, he has the chance to learn and develop before being called upon as a mainstay of this line.  60. Princely Umanmielen, EDGE, Ole Miss:  You may well look at a pass rush that consists of Aidan Hutchinson and Za’Darius Smith and wonder why the Lions would use a second-round pick on an EDGE as opposed to another position (like cornerback). However, depth at EDGE is crucial, and it is something the Lions do not currently have based on their projected roster.  Princely Umanmielen possesses the physical tools and flashes of technical brilliance that suggest star potential. With natural bend, strength, and length, he has the traits of a disruptive pass rusher. He is another player who lacks consistency, but with Smith and Hutchinson both potential free agents in 2026, Umanmielen has time to learn before being asked to start.  101. Kaden Prather, WR, Maryland:  The Lions proved that they could make it work in terms of their third wide receiver, but there is no guarantee that Tim Patrick will be back, and they need that outside threat. Amon-Ra St. Brown is excellent from the slot, and they have the game-breaking speed in Jameson Williams, so Kaden Prather could give them that third type of player.  Prather combines size with agility, excelling in spatial awareness and physicality to make contested catches. One thing the injury to Aidan Hutchinson exposed was the lack of pass-rushing depth that is on the roster, which makes Mike Green out of Marshall a potential option towards the end of the first round.  Green’s great reps against Ohio State (tremendous bend running the arc and a disgusting spin move for a sack) gave us a glimpse of the potential his 6’4’’, 248-pound frame possesses.
