NFL Week 17: Rookie Team of the Week (Interior Offensive Line: Tate Ratledge, Detroit Lions – 69.4.  While the Lions had a disappointing showing on Christmas in their season-ending loss to the Minnesota Vikings, Ratledge continued to show great improvement. NFL Week 17 Grades: NFC North (Detroit Lions - Offensive Grade: D-.  Detroit’s offense flopped, eliminating the team from playoff contention. It was the Lions’ third consecutive loss and another game where the team was unable to get their ground game going. Minnesota’s defense was at its best, limiting Detroit to 197 passing yards, 68 rushing yards, and one touchdown. The Lions’ offense is too talented to struggle as they did. Head coach Dan Campbell deserves much of the blame as his fourth down failures prevented points from being added to the scoreboard via the way of chip-shot field goals. Campbell’s willingness to be extra-aggressive was the team’s downfall throughout the season.  Defensive Grade: B.  Unlike the offense, the team’s defense played well. They didn’t force a turnover, but pressured Minnesota’s third-string quarterback often, totaling seven sacks. Detroit’s defense did its part, but the offense was the main culprit in the loss.  Overall Grade: D.  Detroit’s inability to get its offense going was the deciding factor in the 23-10 loss. The defense gave the offense every opportunity to win the game, but the offense couldn’t produce.
