Week 15 Predictions

SN Iyer ( Upset of the Week: Lions (+5.5, 54 o/u) over Rams - The Lions are feeling confident in their offense again in this latest QB duel between former Ram Jared Goff and former Lion Matthew Stafford. The Rams can move the ball well on Detroit's defense, but Los Angeles also has plenty of holes to exploit on the back end. Between Amon-Ra St. Brown, Jameson Williams, Jahmyr Gibbs, Puka Nacua, Davante Adams and Kyren Williams, there's too much receiver and back talent not to expect a SoFi shootout. The Lions steal it late with a lot of Gibbs.  Pick: Lions win 34-31.):  https://www.sportingnews.com/us/nfl/news/nfl-picks-predictions-against-spread-week-15-packers-edge-broncos-patriots-complete-sweep-bills/de25d3f5a74b05cc2acabe34

Pro Pick Rob Maadi (DETROIT (8-5) at LOS ANGELES RAMS (10-3) - Line: Rams minus 5 1/2.  Jared Goff is 2-1 against Matthew Stafford, including a playoff win, since they were traded for each other. But the Rams got their Super Bowl victory with Stafford while the Lions are still trying to get to one. They’ve got a tough road to even get in the playoffs, starting this week. Goff and coach Dan Campbell are 23-12 ATS as underdogs. The Rams are 16-3 ATS in December since 2021. Something has to give.  UPSET SPECIAL: LIONS: 27-26):  https://apnews.com/article/nfl-line-picks-broncos-patriots-packers-bills-be40224250281d9b87312c0641601a90

CBS Breech (Detroit (-5.5) at L.A. Rams:  If there is one trade in recent NFL history that still blows my mind, it's the deal that sent Matthew Stafford to Los Angeles and Jared Goff to Detroit. Some people think about the Roman Empire all the time, I think about this trade. The two teams basically decided to do their own version of "Wife Swap," except with quarterbacks, and somehow, it ended up working out well for everyone involved, which never happens in the actual "Wife Swap" show.   For the Rams, Matthew Stafford has already won more games in L.A. (44) than Goff (42) did during his time with the team. Oh, and Stafford also led the Rams to a Super Bowl win. For Detroit, Goff has already done something that Stafford never did with the Lions and that's lead them to an NFC title game.   Although each guy has had plenty of success in their new spot, I still have to think that both of them would love to destroy their old team. Just remember, Jared Goff was so mad about the trade when it happened that he hung up the phone on Sean McVay when the Rams coach tried to call him after the deal. There is no anger like "hang up the phone," anger. Goff probably wants to win this game by five touchdowns. As for Stafford, he did win a Super Bowl 2021, but he has lost two straight games to the Lions, so you can bet he'd also like to win by five touchdowns. Unfortunately for both guys, I don't think anyone is going to win by five touchdowns.  The Rams might score five touchdowns though, and that's because their offense is firing on all cylinders. Since their Week 8 bye, the Rams have gone 5-1 and they've been averaged 34 points per game in those six games. And now, Stafford gets to face a Lions defense that's going through its worst rut of the year. Heading into Week 12, the Lions had not given up more than 355 yards in ANY game all season, but all three of their opponents over the past three weeks have topped that number, including the Giants, who put up more than 500 yards in Week 12. This is they type of defense that Matthew Stafford could have a lot of passing success against, which is good news for anyone who's starting Puka Nacua or Davante Adams in their fantasy playoffs this week (I have Davante). If the Rams can turn this into a shootout, I'm not sure the Lions will be able to keep up and that's mostly because I expect Goff to be running for his life for all four quarters. The Lions are 4-0 this year in games where Goff doesn't get sacked, but it's going to be hard to keep him clean in a game against a Rams defense that's averaging 2.8 sacks per game, which is the sixth-highest total in the NFL. The Rams just don't have a lot of holes right now, which makes it almost impossible to pick against them.  PICK: Rams 30-23 over Lions):  https://www.cbssports.com/nfl/news/nfl-week-15-picks-score-predictions-odds-best-bets/

SN Bender (Detroit Lions at Los Angeles Rams (-5.5) - The key for both teams will be the running game. Jahmyr Gibbs (5.7 yards per carry) and Kyren Williams (4.9 yards per carry) can control a high-stakes game like this. Turnovers also will be huge. The Rams are 4-1 S/U at home this season, and three of those games have been one-score victories.  Pick: Rams 28, Lions 24):  https://www.sportingnews.com/us/nfl/news/nfl-picks-predictions-week-15/4967edab19eedbb80cd144c0

CBS Prisco (Detroit Lions at Los Angeles Rams (-5.5):  This is a big game in terms of playoff seeding. The Lions are 8-5 and can't afford another loss, while the Rams are pushing for a division title and the top seed. The Rams offense got back on track last week and the Lions have issues on defense. That's a bad combination. Look for Matthew Stafford to light things up against his former team, while Jared Goff can't keep up. Rams win it.  Pick: Rams 34, Lions 27):  https://www.cbssports.com/nfl/news/priscos-week-15-nfl-picks-bills-beat-patriots-in-afc-east-battle-packers-knock-off-broncos-on-road/

CBS Dajani and Dubin (Detroit Lions at Los Angeles Rams (-5.5) - Dajani (Rams -5.5): Talk about a get-right game for L.A. last week. The Rams thumped the hapless Arizona Cardinals, 45-17, following their shocking loss to the Carolina Panthers. Now, Matthew Stafford gets his former team -- who he actually has a losing record against. Most bettors probably think this line is too large, but this Lions defense is down several starters -- including the Pro Bowler Brian Branch, who just tore his Achilles. The Lions are 7-6 ATS compared to the Rams' 9-4 ATS record. It may be a sweat in the fourth quarter, but I'll actually lay the points with the favorites … Prediction: Rams 28, Lions 21.  Dubin (Lions +5.5): The Lions are once again battered by injuries on defense, having just lost Brian Branch for the season last Thursday in addition to the various other players they already had on injured reserve. But their offense is good enough to keep them in any game with any team -- even one as good as the Rams. Jahmyr Gibbs, Amon-Ra St. Brown and Jameson Williams are so explosive that they can overcome some of the issues Detroit might have up front with L.A.'s defensive line. As long as the protection doesn't totally implode, I like Detroit to keep this close. … Prediction: Rams 30, Lions 26):  https://www.cbssports.com/nfl/news/nfl-week-15-picks-experts-falcons-buccaneers-tnf-packers-broncos/
