Biggest turnaround in 2020? Five teams receive votes (DeANGELO HALL: I want to be a homer and pick the Washington Football Team, but its season will rise and fall as young quarterback Dwayne Haskins goes through growing pains. So I'm rolling with the Detroit Lions. Matthew Stafford is healthy. Kenny Golladay is coming off a huge season in which he led the league in receiving TDs while playing with a hodgepodge of QBs. Rookie D'Andre Swift and Kerryon Johnson should give this offense an explosive run game. Add in other offensive weapons, a wave of Patriot influence on the defense and the fact that Matt Patricia is on the hot seat, and this Lions team has the makings of a squad on the come up.): https://www.nfl.com/news/which-nfl-team-will-enjoy-the-biggest-turnaround-in-2020
Touchdown Wire's preseason All-Rookie team: The defense (CB Jeff Okudah - Last season, the Lions played more man coverage than any other NFL team — 54% of their total defensive snaps. Problem was, they weren’t very good at it. Only the Dolphins allowed more touchdowns in man and combo coverage than Detroit’s 23, and the Lions picked off just three passes when featuring their preferred schemes. A lot of that had to do with the team trading away its best defensive backs, but there was also the simple fact that the DBs Matt Patricia and his staff had just weren’t adept at fulfilling the requirements man coverage presents. That will change to a degree with the addition of Okudah, the Ohio State alum taken by the Lions with the third overall pick. Over his last two collegiate seasons, Okudah played 70% man coverage in 2018 and 54% in 2019. Last season, Okudah allowed a completion rate of 38.71% in man and combo coverages, which means he’s the right guy for the job — a new phenomenon in Detroit’s secondary.): https://touchdownwire.usatoday.com/lists/all-rookie-nfl-team-chase-young-jeff-okudah-antoine-winfield/
