The best landing spots for the biggest-name roster cuts (CB Sidney Jones: Detroit Lions - Selected with the 43rd pick in the 2017 draft by the Eagles, Jones put up tape at Washington that said “first-round talent.” But he suffered a torn Achilles tendon on his final drill during his Pro Day, which reduced his draft stock and had him playing just 29 snaps in his rookie season. Multiple injuries since have limited his potential, which is an obvious caveat emptor to teams looking for cornerback talent, but when healthy, Jones is an above-average defender in the slot or outside, especially in man coverage. The problem is the “when healthy” part. He did have two interceptions last season, allowing 20 catches on 36 targets for 226 yards, 111 yards after the catch, two touchdowns, those two picks, and an opponent passer rating of 69.9. The Lions played more man coverage than any other NFL team last season, and they weren’t good at it at all, allowing 23 touchdowns and picking off just three passes in man concepts.
