Week 2 Previews and Predictions

Lions vs. Packers preview | Week 2 (All 3 pick GB to win by scores of 28-27, 33-20 and 31-13):  https://www.nfl.com/videos/lions-vs-packers-preview-week-2

SN Vinnie Iyer (Lions at Packers (-5.5, 47.5 o/u) Sunday 1 p.m. ET, Fox.  The Lions melted down in the fourth quarter against the Bears with more defensive issues under Matt Patricia, including hamstring injuries to cornerbacks Desmond Trufant and Justin Coleman. That's bad timing for another division game against a Packers offense firing on all cylinders and then some with the Aarons, Rodgers and Jones. The Lions will hope to get Kenny Golladay back, but their top wide receiver also can be contained by Jaire Alexander. Lambeau Field won't be the same without Cheeseheads filing the stands, but the Packers still will have good reason to leap.  Pick: Packers win 31-24 and cover the spread.):  https://www.sportingnews.com/us/nfl/news/nfl-picks-predictions-week-2-seahawks-patriots-steelers-packers/1cwp7cvo0kzq812dzzbkm8widu

SN Haislop (Detroit Lions at Green Bay (Packers (-5 1/2).  Sunday, 1 p.m. ET, Fox):  As tempting as it might be, and even though everybody else is doing it, the Packers can't look at the Lions as the "same old Lions" after Detroit gifted Chicago a win last week. This is still a tricky division game against a team that had reasonable expectations for 2020 but was embarrassed in Week 1. The better team should still win even if the game is closer than expected. Pick: Packers 26, Lions 23):  https://www.sportingnews.com/us/nfl/news/nfl-picks-predictions-week-2-cowboys-49ers-vikings-colts/2k5eq4c7oicb1dhmwjxhx1jxq

CBS Prisco (Detroit Lions at Green Bay Packers (-6):  The Packers looked like Super Bowl contenders last week against the Vikings, and now come home to face a Lions team that lost a tough one to the Bears last week. The Lions made Mitch Trubisky look good. Watch what Aaron Rodgers does to them. Blowout.  Pick: Packers 34, Lions 23):  https://www.cbssports.com/nfl/news/pete-priscos-week-2-odds-picks-eagles-rebound-vs-rams-seahawks-roll-over-patriots-colts-stomp-vikings/

CBS Dajani (Detroit Lions at Green Bay Packers (Point spread: Packers -6):  Aaron Rodgers is heading back to Lambeau after a great Week 1 and he has an opportunity to score another divisional win against the Lions this Sunday. He passed for 364 yards and four touchdowns last week against the Vikings, which marked career game No. 16 with over 300 passing yards. That ties for the fourth-most in NFL history. Rodgers is 15-5 in his career against the Lions and has recorded 41 touchdowns as opposed to just eight interceptions in those 20 games. The Lions blew a 17-point lead in the fourth quarter to Mitchell Trubisky and the Chicago Bears last week, so I'm confident the Packers can take care of business here in Week 2. While Green Bay has won the past two against Detroit, the Packers haven't beaten the Lions by double digits since 2014. I think that changes on Sunday.  The pick: Packers 38-20):  https://www.cbssports.com/nfl/news/nfl-week-2-odds-picks-how-to-watch-vikings-upset-colts-while-packers-score-another-divisional-win/

CBS Will Brinson (Lions at Packers (Point spread: Packers -6):  People are pumped about Aaron Rodgers being back and that's swell, but let's see what Green Bay does offensively in Week 2 before we crown him. Just kidding, he'll have another big game this week, because the Lions defense is completely shredded. It's very possible the Lions are going to shred the Packers back, though. If Kenny Golladay plays, I think the Lions win. Wouldn't bet it and I would just ignore the spread and go hammer this Over if it's below 50. This game will end in 50-plus points more than 90 percent of the time.  Pick: Lions 35, Packers 28):  https://www.cbssports.com/nfl/news/nfl-week-2-picks-odds-patriots-giants-and-lions-pull-off-major-upsets-plus-what-we-learned-from-week-1/

NFL.com (Green Bay Packers 35, Detroit Lions 21:  Blowing a 17-point fourth-quarter lead to Mitchell Trubisky is a rather dark timeline to begin a make-or-break season for Lions coach Matt Patricia. Heading to Lambeau Field with a banged-up secondary to face Aaron Rodgers coming off one of his best games in years is even darker. Patricia doesn't have the personnel to generate pressure consistently, so he usually tries to outsmart opposing quarterbacks with coverages, to limited effect. That strategy isn't going to work with shaky backup cornerbacks, even with No. 3 overall pick Jeff Okudah likely to make his debut after missing Week 1 with a hamstring injury following a rocky training camp. To top it off, Detroit's offense doesn't look like it will be ready to hang in a shootout until Kenny Golladay, who is dealing with a hamstring injury of his own, is right. This is the darkest timeline.):  https://www.nfl.com/news/nfl-week-2-game-picks-browns-prevail-seahawks-beat-pats

PFT (Lions (+6) at Packers:  MDS’s take: Aaron Rodgers looked as good as he’s ever looked in Matt LaFleur’s offense on Sunday, while the Lions’ defense let Mitch Trubisky have a huge fourth quarter. That’s a recipe for an ugly day for the Lions.  MDS’s pick: Packers 31, Lions 14. Florio’s take: The Aaron Rodgers Revenge Tour makes its Lambeau debut against a team reeling from letting a rare win get away.  Florio’s pick: Packers 34, Lions 20.:  https://profootballtalk.nbcsports.com/2020/09/17/pfts-week-two-picks-11/
