Hot or Not: Human freight train; Groundhog Day in the D (What's not - 1) A challenge to the Detroit Lions as they stare into the abyss of yet another rebuild: Become something we don't expect. Something more. Something bearing a defined identity. Something greater than one drab Sunday after the next. The Lions have served as a hotbed of boredom for so long that it's become normalized. Poured into the bloodstream. In the wake of moving on from Matt Patricia, Lions ownership faces immense pressure to right a wandering vessel. Imagine all the 15-year-old football fans in Detroit who watched the fascinating Deshaun Watson light up the skies while asking themselves: Football can stir the heart? Think about how, one week prior, these same teenage Michiganders saw first-year Carolina coach Matt Rhule coax a watchable performance out of former XFL signal-caller P.J. Walker in a 20-0 shutout of a listless Lions roster. Waves and generations of would-be Lions fans are looking elsewhere for a better product. It's time to examine how past decisions have been made -- who made them -- and whether or not anything will be different this time around in the search for a new head coach and general manager.):  https://www.nfl.com/news/nfl-hot-or-not-derrick-henry-s-a-mythical-force-lions-hit-restart-again

PFF All-Pro Team Update: The best players at each position through NFL Week 12 (P JACK FOX, DETROIT LIONS (Second Team: Tommy Townsend, Kansas City Chiefs):  There are few wider gaps between a player and the rest of his peers than that between Jack Fox and the rest of the punters. His box score averages are excellent, but nobody has matched his combination of hang time, direction and distance all season.):  https://www.pff.com/news/nfl-all-pro-team-update-the-best-players-at-each-position-through-nfl-week-12-2020

Grading all 32 first-round picks after Week 12 of the 2020 NFL season (PICK NO. 3: CB JEFFREY OKUDAH, DETROIT LIONS
2020 overall grade: 41.8:  Jeffrey Okudah didn’t play on Thanksgiving; here’s what we said after Week 11:.  Jeffrey Okudah isn’t an every-down starter anymore, but that can’t hide him from opposing offenses when he does see the field. Against Carolina this week, he saw 24 snaps of action and was targeted six times, allowing a catch in each instance. Those receptions went for 79 yards and a 118.8 passer rating. The good news for Okudah is that his run defense and tackling were solid, and this is a season in which coverage is a struggle for most cornerbacks and virtually all rookies.  It’s been a tough season for the No. 3 pick, and it would be difficult to pick out many positives, but he can at least take comfort in the schadenfreude of knowing that he’s not alone. The Lions will be hoping that this season is laying the groundwork for better play in the future.):  https://www.pff.com/news/nfl-grading-all-32-first-round-picks-week-12-2020-nfl-season
