Davis: Rattler among 16 prospects I'd pound table for (Adisa Isaac:  It’s easy for me to root for Isaac. A loving and dedicated brother to three non-verbal siblings, he provided a pillar of support for his family from a young age. On the field, he keeps getting better. He has plenty of toughness and is strong at the point of attack. Also, he outproduced his more highly touted Penn State teammate, Chop Robinson, when it came to sacks and tackles for loss last season. 2024 NFL Draft EDGE rankings & analysis (8: Adisa Isaac, Penn State:  Hailing from Brooklyn, NY, Isaac (6’043/247) was a 2019 early enrollee who immediately played 132 highly productive reps as a true freshman, earning a 75th percentile PFF overall grade. He was primed for a feature defensive role in 2021, but tore his Achilles in the offseason which knocked him out until 2022. As is to be expected his first year post-injury saw his per snap production drop off, but he managed to start all 13 games logging 505 reps with 36 pressures, 11.0 tackles for loss and 4.0 sacks despite a disappointing 27% missed tackle rate.  Isaac finally returned to his pre-injury self this year, leading the Big Ten with 16.0 TFL in addition to a team-leading 7.5 sacks and 4.5% havoc rate. His 2.33s time-to-first-pressure average is an exceptional time, while a 4.1% sack rate led all PSU defensive linemen. The team captain also slashed his missed tackle rate from 27-to-10% while earning a strong 83rd percentile PFF overall grade.  The Second Team All-Big Ten performer ran a 1.63s 10-yard split (85th%) and 4.74s 40-yard dash, which is an 80th percentile historical mark, but was the fifth-slowest time from the 2024 NFL Combine EDGE group. His 34.5” vert (81st%) and 10’03” broad jump (92nd%) verifies Isaac’s lower leg drive and 8.99 RAS, while his 33.875” length arms are usually found on offensive tackles.  Isaac brings an urgent, hungry demeanor to his game which only enhances his above-average burst and flexibility around the loop. His long, probing arms help him to stack and shed in the run game while keeping blockers at bay on the rush. While he has a developed pass rush plan, Isaac could stand to add a little functional weight to help him stand up to NFL sized tackles to avoid getting knocked off his rush path. Insider notes on 2024 NFL Draft prospects: DL stars' draft stock polarizes scouts, Adisa Isaac impresses (Penn State’s Adisa Isaac entered the season with grades that ranged anywhere from the late third round to the fifth frame, yet a terrific senior season followed by an even better Senior Bowl began his ascension up draft boards.Isaac finished 2023 with a career-best 7.5 sacks and 16 TFLs ans went on to dominate the likes of Taliese Fuaga and Roger Rosengarten during Senior Bowl practices.His combine marks included hand times as fast as 4.70 in the 40 and a vertical jump of 34.5 inches. At pro day, he timed 4.33 seconds in the short shuttle and an incredibly quick 7.01 seconds in the three-cone at 253 pounds.  The belief is that Isaac will not get out of the second round, an improvement of more than 30 slots from where he started the season.In my most recent mock draft, I had the Detroit Lions selecting Isaac with the 61st selection. I’m told the Baltimore Ravens, who own the 62nd pick, and the Buffalo Bills, who hold the 60th selection, have both shown a lot of interest in Isaac. Both teams need pass rushers and are expected to address that need sometime during the first two days of the draft.  The Houston Texans were interested in Isaac and even had an official-30 visit scheduled with him until the signing of Danielle Hunter put those plans on hold.Ironically the Minnesota Vikings, who made a pre-draft trade with the Texans several weeks ago, also like Isaac a lot, but unless they do some maneuvering to acquire a Day 2 pick, it’s unlikely the Penn State pass rusher ends up there.) Notes from 2024 UCLA and Penn State Pro Days: Edge rushers shine as Laiatu Latu leads the way (Edge rusher Adisa Isaac looked sharp in drills after running the short shuttle and three cone. Unofficial times for Isaac were 4.26 seconds in the short shuttle and 6.99 seconds in the 3 cone, the latter being an exceptional mark.The Carolina Panthers, now in need of an edge rusher after trading Brian Burns to the New York Giants, ran Isaac primarily through pass rushing drills but did a few coverage drills and looked smooth in his drops.  Isaac met with the Chicago Bears, Buffalo Bills and Minnesota Vikings. Adisa Isaac, Penn State.  The Penn State Nittany Lions boasted one of the nation’s most exciting duos outside the tackle. You’ll see Robinson higher on this list, but his counterpart, Adisa Isaac, is also a top-50 prospect in the 2024 NFL Draft and a high-upside talent rushing off the edge.  Isaac put up four sacks and 11 TFLs in 2022, showing off his range in pursuit and his well-rounded pallet of traits  In 2023, he took another step up as a pass rusher, accruing 7.5 sacks and 15 TFLs. At 6’4″ and 254 pounds, Isaac has a little bit of everything: explosiveness, ankle flexion, length, and power capacity.  A torn Achilles in 2021 delayed Isaac’s development somewhat, but he returned with a vengeance and is now an early-round prospect.) Buyer beware on these 2024 NFL Draft prospects (EDGE ADISA ISAAC, PENN STATE - Big Board Rank: 42.  PFF grades correlate well to NFL success at edge defender, and while Isaac didn't grade poorly (81.8 overall in 2023), there are concerns about how his grade breaks down and his career as a whole.  His 82.4 run-defense grade propped up his overall mark. He missed just two tackles and recorded an average tackle depth of 0.61 yards in that facet. It was a big improvement from 2022, when he came in at 60.3 with missed eight tackles, almost double the negatively graded plays as in 2023 and an average tackle depth of 2.53 yards.  His pass-rushing profile is not bad, but he is the lowest-graded pass rusher with the lowest pass-rush win rate in the top 100 of PFF’s big board. After a week of practice, it feels like the question is no longer whether he’ll be picked in the first round but, rather, how high.  Isaac has not received the praise he deserves due to teammate Chop Robinson getting the potential first-round buzz early in the season. Despite his running partner Chop Robinson taking all the plaudits, Isaac had the more productive year in 2023, registering 7.5 sacks and 16 tackles for a loss.  It isn’t surprising, as Isaac’s game is solid all-around. While he still could improve his pass rush, Isaac has the power profile and arm length to overcome opponents with a swim move and rip move that puts him in areas to succeed.  At 6’4” and 249 pounds, Isaac holds up physically, but his game is still developing. Isaac is the latest in a long line of those types. He’s athletic enough for the position to make the necessary plays, but can he hold up long-term against bigger blockers? He led the team in sacks with 7.5, just ahead of all-everything linebacker Abdul Carter, a potential first-round selection in 2025. Isaac complemented Chop Robinson nicely with his pass-rush skills on the other side. He brings a lot of power to his game. Size could be an issue, as he’s listed at just 240 pounds. 2024 NFL Draft Stock – Week 16 (Up - Adisa Issac, DE, Penn State:  While Chop Robinson was expected to be Penn State’s leading pass rusher, Isaac created the most pass-rushing production in 2023 after Robinson was injured. Isaac totaled 7.5 sacks, 35 tackles and a forced fumble during the regular season. He had four sacks in 2022 after missing 2021 with an injury. He totaled a combined three sacks over 2020 and 2019.  Isaac has quality size for the next level and is a good run defender. And his production is no fluke. He led the team in tackles for loss a year ago (11) after missing 2021 with a torn Achilles.  Isaac has a lean, lanky frame and is a pure speed rusher, exploding off the ball like a sprinter out of the blocks. He complements his initial burst with very good lateral agility, which Penn State takes full advantage of on frequent twists and stunts with the defensive tackles aligned inside of him. 2023 CFB Week 2: Adisa Isaac and Kiran Amegadjie Headline Underrated NFL Draft Prospects (Adisa Isaac, EDGE, Penn State:  Adisa Isaac has been on NFL radars since his freshman season with his size, speed, and athleticism. Unfortunately, going into his junior campaign, Isaac suffered a torn Achilles and had to miss that season.  Now, two years after the injury, Isaac has his explosiveness back. He was flying all over the field against West Virginia in Penn State’s season opener. He consistently got after the quarterback with excellent bend and a great first step. His speed flashed on a twist, where he got a quarterback hit.  Isaac also looked natural dropping back into coverage. His hip fluidity and athleticism were on full display in that regard. There were several “wow” plays on Isaac’s film against West Virginia, who has a solid offensive line. Isaac, along with Chop Robinson and Dani Dennis-Sutton, gives Penn State the best pass-rush group in the country.  Isaac was viewed as a Day 2 prospect going into this performance, but he showed top-50 potential, especially if he can build off this game the rest of the season.)
