Highest-graded player at every position after the 2023 NFL regular season (OFFENSIVE TACKLE: PENEI SEWELL, DETROIT LIONS: 92.8.  Not only was the second-year pro PFF’s highest-graded offensive tackle, but he also led all tackles in total snap count across the regular season and playoffs. In all, he allowed just one sack and committed just seven penalties.  Sewell's 95.1 run-blocking grade was as elite as it gets, coming in as the second-highest run-blocking grade for an offensive tackle — behind only the untouchable 2021 season from the next man on this list — since 2008.  INTERIOR OFFENSIVE LINE: FRANK RAGNOW, DETROIT LIONS: 88.8.  Ragnow stands in the middle of Detroit’s road-grading offensive line and is an effective tone-setter for the group. The Lions center finished with the league’s highest interior run-blocking grade (91.3). Part of that success stems from Ragnow being half of the most lethal interior duo in the league, along with his teammate Graham Glasgow. PFF (G GRAHAM GLASGOW SIGNS WITH DETROIT LIONS - 2023 PFF Grade: 74.9 (8th/79).  2023 PFF WAR: 0.27 (16th).  Fit/need grade: A-.  Value grade: B+.  Contract: Three years, $20 million, $9.5 million total guaranteed.  PFF projected contract: Two years, $13 million, $6.5 million total guaranteed.  Detroit appears to have made its decision between two pending free agent guards, electing to retain the veteran Glasgow over the younger Jonah Jackson, though there is still time. Walter football (Lions re-sign G/C Graham Glasgow (3 years, $20 million): B+ Grade.  One of the reasons I’ve been so bullish on the Lions in recent years is the great play of their offensive line. They have one of the best blocking units in the NFL, and Graham Glasgow is definitely a big part of that.  Glasgow isn’t a terrific pass protector, but he’s a force in the running game and can play multiple positions. He’s worth every penny of this deal. SI 2024 NFL Free Agency Tracker: Grading Every Major Move (G Graham Glasgow re-signs with Lions.  Detroit is flush with cap space, and used a bit of it Monday morning to retain one of its own in star guard Graham Glasgow.  Glasgow, 31, was given a three-year deal worth $20 million, including $9.5 million in guaranteed money. For the Lions, he’s part of one of the league’s best offensive lines headed by tackles Penei Sewell and Taylor Decker, and center Frank Ragnow.  After reaching the NFC championship game for the first time since 1991, the Lions will largely be looking to make additions to the defense, particularly in the secondary. SI 2024 NFL Free Agency Tracker: Grading Every Major Move (CB Carlton Davis III traded to the Lions - The Detroit Lions made the NFC title game, but they’re not settling with a defensive roster that needed work in 2023.  Detroit addressed its suspect secondary by acquiring cornerback Carlton Davis III in a trade with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, who received a 2024 third-round pick. The Lions also received sixth-round selections in ’24 and ’25 from the Bucs.  Davis was entering the last year of his contract and scheduled to make $14.5 million.  Davis signed a three-year, $44.5 million contract extension in 2022 to remain in Tampa Bay. After back-to-back rocky seasons, the Lions are hoping he’ll have a bounce-back year and provide improvements to a poor secondary. The Lions added cornerbacks Cameron Sutton and Emmanuel Moseley last season, but the moves didn’t pay off on the field. Davis will provide competition and much-needed depth for the cornerbacks in Detroit.  As for the Buccaneers, they had plenty of depth in the secondary and gained cap space, which was needed after working out deals with Mike Evans, Baker Mayfield and Antoine Winfield Jr. The Buccaneers could replace Davis with the Lions’ third-round pick.  Lions grade: C+.  Buccaneers grade: B+.  Edge Marcus Davenport to sign with the Lions - The Detroit Lions’ coaching staff added a familiar face to their defensive front.  Edge rusher Marcus Davenport, a 2018 first-round pick, reportedly will sign a one-year contract with the Lions to reunite with coach Dan Campbell and defensive coordinator Aaron Glenn, two coaches who worked with Davenport in New Orleans.  Davenport spent his first five NFL seasons with the Saints before joining the Vikings last season. Davenport had an injury riddled season in Minnesota, recording only two sacks in four games played.  Davenport, who’s entering his age-28 season, will look to get his career back on track playing next to Aidan Hutchinson on the Lions’ defensive line. 2024 NFL free-agency grades: Evaluating every major signing so far (Edge rusher Marcus Davenport (Lions) - 2023 stats: 2 sacks, 7 total tackles in four games.  Reported terms: One-year contract.  Previous team: Vikings.  Injuries prevented Marcus Davenport from realizing his full potential in Brian Flores' defense with the Vikings, but he should be fully healthy for 2024. At least, that's what the Detroit Lions are hoping for. Davenport inked a one-year deal with the Lions, reuniting him with Aaron Glenn, who was in New Orleans with Davenport earlier in his career.  This will give Detroit another threat opposite Aidan Hutchinson on the defensive line and help the Lions keep pace with the division rivals loading up this offseason.  Grade: B-):  https://www.foxsports.com/stories/nfl/2024-nfl-free-agency-grades-evaluating-every-major-signing-so-far

Walter football (Lions sign DE Marcus Davenport (1 year): B+ Grade.  Marcus Davenport was a solid performer with the Saints, so when the Vikings signed him last year, they believed they were getting a pass-rushing upgrade. This, however, did not happen, as Davenport was a bust in Minnesota. However, Davenport still has upside, and perhaps the Lions can get him to perform like he did in New Orleans.
