Week 15 Power Rankings

SI (29. Detroit Lions (1-11-1) (Last week: Loss at Denver, 38-10.  Next week: vs. Arizona):  The Lions are probably not going to end this year with a winning streak, but they’ll put themselves in a position to transform their defense with the No. 1 pick in the NFL draft. This season was not beautiful, but starting 2022 as one of the 10 best teams in net yards per rushing attempt and having an offensive line good enough to court some quarterback talent isn’t the worst place to be.):  https://www.si.com/nfl/2021/12/14/nfl-power-rankings-week-15

PFN (30. Detroit Lions:  Listen, we knew what we signed up for when we decided the Lions were the bad team we wanted to root for this season. They’re almost unimaginably outgunned offensively by every team they play. Against the Broncos, they were down their top two running backs, giving them precisely zero household names to catch or run the ball.  But this team has been the feistiest of the bad squads, which makes them likable. Still, they’re not just bad on offense. They have a few solid rookie interior defenders, but they lost their top cornerback before the season started, and they haven’t had an athletic linebacker in a long time.  Down their two best offensive players following an emotional first win of the season last week, the Lions got walked by the Broncos.):  https://www.profootballnetwork.com/nfl-power-rankings-2021-nflwk-15/

NFL.com (30. Lions (Previous rank: No. 30):  The afterglow of the Lions’ first win of the season faded as the reality of another losing Sunday set in. Detroit surrendered 184 yards on the ground to the Broncos, while the offense struggled to create big plays with D’Andre Swift and T.J. Hockenson sidelined by injuries in a 38-10 loss. Jared Goff didn’t complete a pass over 20 yards the entire game. Lions coach Dan Campbell said Monday he is "hopeful" that Swift will return to action in Week 15 against the Cardinals. If not, the immortal Craig Reynolds will continue to see extensive work.):  https://www.nfl.com/news/nfl-power-rankings-week-15-2021-nfl-season

USA Today (30. Lions (30): With losses to the Ravens and Eagles in the bag, Detroit could go winless against all five NFL bird mascots with the Cardinals, Falcons and Seahawks coming down the pike.):  https://www.usatoday.com/story/sports/nfl/columnist/nate-davis/2021/12/14/nfl-power-rankings-week-15-2021-packers-rams-chargers/6505382001/

Yahoo (30. Detroit Lions (1-11-1, LW: 31):  The Lions didn't have a lot of gas left after getting that first win in Week 13, and being without so many players didn't help. There was motivation when Detroit still was searching for a victory. Dan Campbell's challenge the rest of the way is keeping his team playing hard without anything tangible to chase.):  https://sports.yahoo.com/nfl-power-rankings-aaron-rodgers-is-packers-star-but-dont-ignore-coach-matt-la-fleur-142751061.html

Touchdown wire (30. Detroit Lions (1-11-1)
Last week: 30.  Hit hard by players on the COVID-19 list, the Lions did battle early in Denver. The Broncos only went to halftime up 17-10 despite missing the likes of TE T.J. Hockenson, and top RBs D’Andre Swift and Jamaal Williams… but Denver ultimately took the 38-10 win in the second half.):  https://touchdownwire.usatoday.com/lists/nfl-power-rankings-week-15-tampa-bay-buccaneers-green-bay-packers-arizona-cardinals/

Walter football (30. Detroit Lions NFL Power Rankings Detroit Lions (1-11-1) - Previously: 31.  One more loss, and I clinch my under five wins bet! I joke, but crazier things have happened. Then again, I won't have to worry if the Lions keep having to call up seven players from the practice squad.):  https://walterfootball.com/nflpowerrankings.php

PFT (30. Lions (1-11-1, No. 30): Is there any reason to think things will be better next year?):  https://profootballtalk.nbcsports.com/2021/12/13/pfts-week-15-2021-power-rankings/

CBS (31. Lions:  The injuries and the loss of a lot of players to illness and COVID proved to be too much at Denver. They just don't have enough talent to overcome that.):  https://www.cbssports.com/nfl/news/nfl-power-rankings-week-15-dominant-defense-makes-chiefs-double-trouble-for-rest-of-nfl/

ESPN (31. Detroit Lions (1-11-1) (Previous ranking: 30):  Offense: 29.  Defense: 31.  Special teams: 4.  The Lions presently have the highest chance to receive the first pick in the 2022 NFL draft. With the current roster in place, even at its best, this team might have been able to achieve a five-win campaign, and that's being generous. But season-ending injuries to key guys such as cornerback Jeff Okudah, center Frank Ragnow and linebacker Romeo Okwara help explain the poor ratings on offense and defense. The final four games of the season could be rough for the Lions as they try to rebuild for the future under first-year coach Dan Campbell. -- Eric Woodyard):  https://www.espn.com/nfl/story/_/id/32860378/nfl-power-rankings-week-15-1-32-poll-plus-offense-defense-special-teams-rankings

Athlonsports (31. Detroit Lions - Last week: 32.  It took 13 weeks, but they are winless no more. After a number of close calls along the way, you could just see the joy in the faces of Lions players when Jared Goff found Amon-Ra St. Brown for the game-winner too and unleash a sense of relief across the fan base.):  https://athlonsports.com/nfl/nfl-power-rankings

SN (32. Detroit Lions 1-11-1 (32):  The Lions got their first win out of the way against the Vikings. So they decided to be more injury-riddled and go through the motions in Denver.):  https://www.sportingnews.com/us/nfl/news/nfl-power-rankings-49ers-chiefs-cowboys/eoas8hcr00gr1vqi8g21fztrk
