Dillon. SN Bender (Green Bay Packers (-3) at Detroit Lions:  Perhaps no two teams are more desperate for a win this season. These are bad run defenses. Detroit (154.9) ranks 30th; one spot behind the Packers (141.3). The Lions have an offense that could push Green Bay to a fifth straight loss, but the Packers showed some signs of life on that side in the second-half of the Week 8 loss to the Bills. Big lead (PACKERS (-3.5) over LIONS:  The sky is pretty close to falling in Green Bay but even now it's hard to bet against Aaron Rodgers when he goes up against the Lions. Detroit failed to score a single point in the second half against the Dolphins and their defense was not only outmatched but out-schemed. Badly, at that. There is little hope they can perform that much better against Rodgers even with the relative lack of weapons at his disposal. CBS Prisco (Green Bay Packers (-3.5) at Detroit Lions:  The Packers actually showed some life on offense last week against the Bills, which is a good sign. The Lions defense might be the perfect tonic to really get them going. Detroit can score on offense, so this might be a higher-scoring game. CBS Sullivan (Packers at Lions: Detroit feels like a team knocking on the door of a rebuild after firing its defensive backs coach and trading away T.J. Hockenson in the division at the deadline. The Lions have lost four straight and have failed to cover in their last four games, making them impossible to trust at the moment, even if we're getting a field goal and a hook at home.   In terms of saving this season, you could make the case that the Packers are the more desperate team coming into Week 9 as they cling to playoff relevancy. Even in defeat last Sunday in Buffalo, the Packers were able to move the ball on the ground with Aaron Jones and the back has a great history against Detroit. He's the only opponent in franchise history with multiple games of 100+ scrimmage yards and three or more total touchdowns. The Lions also rank 30th in the NFL in DVOA against the run, so this could end up being a huge afternoon for both Jones and A.J. The fact I’m seriously considering predicting the Lions to win and it’s not an absurd concept reinforces it. I suspect the Lions will find some way to blow it; it’s what they do under Dan Campbell. Green Bay vs. Detroit Prediction: Sputtering NFC North Teams Meet in the Motor City (Final Analysis - I really want to pick the Lions in this one. The talent is there, but the problem is that when it comes down to making those two or three winning plays, they just don't do it. The spread tells everyone that this is not your Packers of the past, as they haven't been favored by this little in Detroit since 2018 when they were a one-point underdog. Still, if there was ever an opponent for Rodgers to get healthy against, it would be these Lions.
