NFL Rookies: Top 15 highest-graded players in Week 1 (8. RB JAHMYR GIBBS, DETROIT LIONS: 78.8.  Gibbs joins To’oTo’o and Anderson as the third former Crimson Tide player on this list after Week 1. While Gibbs was limited to just 19 snaps working behind David Montgomery, he made the most of his opportunities. While he was pegged to be the receiving threat out of this backfield, he was most impressive on the ground. On seven carries, he totaled 0.86 forced missed tackles per attempt and 4.9 yards after contact per attempt.):  https://www.pff.com/news/nfl-rookies-top-15-highest-graded-players-in-week-1

Grading all 31 first-round picks after Week 1 of the 2023 NFL season (PICK NO. 12: DETROIT LIONS: RB JAHMYR GIBBS - Overall Rookie Grade: 78.8 (Rank: 1/6).  Principal Opponent: Nick Bolton.  Week 1 Snaps: 19.  Gibbs played only 19 snaps with nine total touches, but he made the most of it. He recorded 60 total yards on that workload. His best work came on the ground, where he forced six missed tackles and gained 34 of his 42 rushing yards after contact. His speed is lethal and he may be Detroit's most explosive playmaker right now. Their offense will improve as Gibbs’ usage increases.  PICK NO. 18: DETROIT LIONS: LB JACK CAMPBELL - Overall Rookie Grade: 53.2 (Rank: 3/3).  Principal Opponent: Rashee Rice/Kadarius Toney..  Week 1 Snaps: 25.  Campbell was used primarily in coverage in his NFL debut, playing 19 coverage snaps compared to six in run defense. He was touted for his coverage ability at Iowa, but Thursday night was more of a mixed bag. He was beaten on a short route by Rashee Rice for a 25-yard gain. He also bit hard on play action late in the game, allowing Kadarius Toney to run wide-open over the middle. It wasn’t all bad, though, as he did have a nice pass breakup against Toney, as well.):  https://www.pff.com/news/nfl-grading-all-first-round-picks-week-1-2023-nfl-season

One thing we learned about each NFL team in Week 1 (Detroit Lions - Jared Goff continues to play mistake-free football: Goff had another game without an interception, and he has thrown 359 passes without an interception dating back to Week 9 of last season (the third-longest streak in NFL history). Goff went 22 of 35 for 253 yards with a touchdown, finding seven different receivers and took what Kansas City's defense gave him. He went 6 of 9 for 72 yards under pressure and 8 of 14 for 75 yards when blitzed, not forcing the issue and letting his offense see another play. There's a reason the Lions are 9-2 in their last 11 games.):  https://www.cbssports.com/nfl/news/one-thing-we-learned-about-each-nfl-team-in-week-1-jets-are-toast-without-aaron-rodgers-cowboys-have-top-d/

Good, bad, ugly for each team in Week 1 (Chiefs (lost 21-20 to Lions):  The good: Patrick Mahomes almost overcame the lack of All-Pro tight end Travis Kelce on Thursday. He totaled 226 yards, two touchdowns, and a pick-six (not his fault) on 21 of 39 passing. If not for critical drops by wide receiver Kadarius Toney, the Chiefs likely begin the season 1-0.  The bad and the ugly: Kadarius Toney's two drops including one that led to Lions rookie safety Brian Branch's 50-yard interception return touchdown. He now has eight drops on 82 career targets in the NFL since he entered the league as a first-round pick with the Giants in 2021. That 9.8% drop rate is the highest in the NFL among 105 receivers with at least 75 targets in that span.):  https://www.cbssports.com/nfl/news/good-bad-ugly-for-each-nfl-team-in-week-1-aaron-rodgers-tears-achilles-cowboys-defense-jordan-love-shine/

What we learned in NFL Week 1: Dolphins leveled up, terrifying Cowboys, standout rookies (The Lions don't look so crazy now, do they?  General manager Brad Holmes faced a lot of criticism all offseason for the players he took and where he took them in the 2023 NFL Draft. After Detroit beat the defending-champion Kansas City Chiefs at their place on Thursday night with plenty of help from those aforementioned players, those criticisms have quieted.  Running back Jahmyr Gibbs, the No. 12 overall pick, had nine touches for 60 yards and was somehow the least productive of the starting rookies. Linebacker Jack Campbell, the No. 18 overall pick, laid multiple big hits and broke up a pass to Kadarius Toney in the third quarter as the Chiefs were driving to add to their 14-7 lead.   Not only did Campbell force an incomplete pass on that series, but rookie safety Brian Branch, the No. 45 overall pick, then intercepted quarterback Patrick Mahomes off a deflection two plays later and took the ball to the house. So instead of the score being 21-7, it was tied at 14.   Tight end Sam LaPorta, the No. 34 overall pick, looked like T.J. Hockenson 2.0, except maybe a better blocker. In an age where most tight ends are just big receivers, LaPorta showed the all-around skills to be a true combo tight end. He also caught all five of his targets for 39 yards.  The Lions also got help from 2022 first-round pick Aidan Hutchinson, who tallied three quarterback hits and seven pressures. According to PFF (via team reporter Dannie Rogers), Hutchinson had five of those pressures on 14 third or fourth-down pass-rush snaps for a 35.7% win rate. Even if you don't totally believe Detroit is for real this year, you have to hand it to Holmes. With all the production the Lions are getting out of their young players, he doesn't deserve your armchair-GM draft criticism. —Carmen Vitali):  https://www.foxsports.com/stories/nfl/what-we-learned-in-nfl-week-1-dolphins-leveled-up-terrifying-cowboys-standout-rookies

NFL Week 1 overreactions: 49ers unstoppable, Steelers stink ("The Packers deserve Love as the team to beat in the NFC North".  Jordan Love went into Chicago and produced an Aaron Rodgers-like result with 245 yards passing and 3 TDs while rating 123.2 in a 38-20 road rout of the rival Bears. He spread the ball around to weapons young and old in a streamlined Matt LaFleur offense, one that he has absorbed so well after multiple offseasons.  One could also see the Packers defense, which also scored, getting confidence in seeing the young QB thrive in his first outing as the unquestioned starter. Just like Rodgers will inject different kind of life in the Jets, Love is feeling it early as leader of the Pack. Yes, this division will be a fun two-team race between Green Bay and Detroit.):  https://www.sportingnews.com/us/nfl/news/nfl-week-1-overreactions-49ers-bengals-steelers-packers/5960e8543230c450211c7925
