Week 2 Predictions

SN Iyer (Seahawks at Lions (-6, 49 o/u):  The Seahawks desperately need a win after their shocking home loss to the Rams in Week 1 and they did win a 48-45 shootout in Ford Field. They have scored a combined 99 points in the past two meetings. But they also are facing a much revamped Lions defense and seem to be vulnerable against the run and in slot coverage. SN Bender (Seattle Seahawks at Detroit Lions (-5.5):  Seattle won a 48-45 shootout at Ford Field last season. This is a different Lions' defense – one that made upgrades in the secondary and should continue to generate a pass rush with Aidan Hutchinson. Seattle managed just 180 total yards in Week 1. CBS Sullivan (Seattle Seahawks at Detroit Lions - As someone who has plenty of futures stacked on Seattle, it does pain me to go against them here, but this does seem like two teams heading in different directions. Detroit is opening up Ford Field after upsetting the Chiefs in Week 1 and entering its most promising season in recent memory. Meanwhile, Seattle is coming off a blowout loss at the hands of the Rams and is banged up at the starting tackle spots. Whether or not Charles Cross or Abraham Lucas suit up in Week 2, it's an advantageous matchup for Aidan Hutchinson to disrupt Geno Smith throughout the afternoon. Over the last 10 games (including playoffs), the Seahawks are 1-9 ATS, while the Lions are 10-1 ATS over their last 11. CBS Dajani (Seattle Seahawks at Detroit Lions (-5):  The Seahawks are 3-0 ATS in their last three meetings with the Lions, but you should know by now this Lions team is different. Detroit is actually 10-1 ATS in its last 11 games, which ranks No. 1 in the NFL in that span. After their upset victory over the Kansas City Chiefs, you know Ford Field is going to be rocking. In fact, it was rocking in the preseason. The Giants even had to use a silent count!  The Seahawks' loss to the Los Angeles Rams was surprising. I thought Seattle's defense was going to be improved, but Puka Nacua and Tutu Atwell both recorded 119 receiving yards apiece last Sunday. I guarantee no one had that on their bingo card. I'm not basing this pick solely off of Seattle's Week 1 performance (it's never smart to do that), but more off of the injury report. Left tackle Charles Cross and right tackle Abraham Lucas are both likely out Sunday, which could potentially spell disaster for Geno Smith. Is there a line for Aidan Hutchinson sacks? While Geno Smith will surely to harassed by Aidan Hutchinson, Jared Goff may not have to wash his jersey after the game as his staunch O-line faces a front that provides little pass rush.
