Let's rank the best NFL divisions this season: Could all four NFC North teams go to the playoffs? (1. NFC North - Combined FPI rating: 7.8 overall (first).  Detroit Lions: 5.7 (second in NFL).  Green Bay Packers: 4.6 (third).  Minnesota Vikings: minus-1.1 (19th).  Chicago Bears: minus-1.4 (20th).  Through five weeks, this is the only division in which no team has a losing record. The top three teams have positive point differentials and all made the 2024 postseason, with Detroit and Minnesota posting two of the three best records in the entire league.  The Bears, the only NFC North team to miss the postseason in 2024, look very much improved under new coach Ben Johnson. And if Caleb Williams is really taking the next step as a quarterback, they could be a surprise team in the second half.  FPI is obviously concerned about the Vikings' quarterback situation, as they are 25th in offense but fourth in defense. Kevin O'Connell's history as Minnesota's coach tells us we shouldn't be concerned. Plus, FPI rates the Vikings' remaining schedule as the fourth easiest in the league.  This division has two of the top three teams by overall FPI, plus the Bears and Vikings have reason to believe they'll improve the rest of the way. PFF Grades and Data: Key insights for every NFL Week 6 game (Detroit Lions at Kansas City Chiefs:  Penei Sewell is redefining what it means to be an offensive weapon at right tackle. He leads all offensive linemen in run-blocking grade (96.0) and has helped power the Lions to a league-best 7.3 yards per carry on runs behind right tackle. Detroit ranks second in volume on those runs (26), but they'll be tested by a Chiefs defense allowing just 2.9 yards per carry to that side — fifth-best in the NFL.  On the other side, Patrick Mahomes is pushing the ball downfield more than he has in years. His 8.9-yard average depth of target is his highest since 2020, and his 14% deep pass rate is his highest since 2018. 2025 NFL defensive line rankings ahead of Week 6: Browns continue to dominate, but Rams and Texans are closing the gap (Best pass-rush unit: Detroit Lions - It took Aidan Hutchinson a few games to return to his 2024 form, but he’s officially back to dominating. He racked up eight total pressures and posted a devastating 32.6% pass rush win rate. Without penalties, that total would have jumped to 11 pressures and three sacks. NFL Week 6 Preview: Schedule, storylines, matchups to watch and betting spreads (Detroit Lions vs. Kansas City Chiefs (-2.5) - Storyline of the game: Two Super Bowl contenders go face-to-face
Despite their rocky start to the season, the Chiefs are still one of the Super Bowl favorites. Their 10% chance of winning the Super Bowl is the second-highest in the NFL, and as long as they have Patrick Mahomes (73.2 grade; 14th), they’ll have a shot.  On the other side, the Lions have put to bed any notion that they’ll struggle without Ben Johnson and Aaron Glenn, beginning the season 4-1. Their 90.1 team grade is second in the NFL, while the Chiefs’ 75.0 grade is 12th.  Matchup to watch: Lions WR Amon-Ra St. Brown vs. Chiefs CB Trent McDuffie - If Chiefs’ CB Trent McDuffie lined up in the slot full-time, we’d get more of this matchup — but that just means the brief moments we see McDuffie vs. Amon-Ra St. Brown in the slot, or out wide, will matter even more.  St. Brown’s 90.5 overall PFF grade is second among receivers in the NFL, and he’s caught 35 passes for 407 yards and six touchdowns through five weeks. McDuffie is one of the best cornerbacks in the NFL, as his 76.2 coverage grade ranks 12th.
