2019 NFL Mock Draft - Charlie Campbell (18. Rashan Gary:  Even if Ziggy Ansah is retained, the Lions could use an upgrade with an edge pass-rusher on the other side. In 2018, Gary has 22 tackles with 4.5 for a loss and two sacks. He opened the season by consistently burning Notre Dame's offensive tackles and putting steady hits on quarterback Brandon Wimbush. In 2017, Gary notched 65 tackles with six sacks, one forced fumble and 12 tackles for a loss. The 6-foot-5, 287-pounder is a rare athlete who could turn into a dominant defender. Scouting sources say Gary has high first-round potential if he puts everything together. That could definitely happen during his junior season. Gary has a tremendous skill set with rare athleticism, speed and versatility. His upside is off the charts.  49. DT Isaiah Buggs:  The Lions have neglected the defensive line over the past few years, so they need add a lot of young talent there. Luckily for Detroit, the 2019 NFL Draft looks loaded with talent on the defensive line. Buggs has played well for Alabama in 2018 with 27 tackles with eight tackles for a loss, 8.5 sacks, two forced fumbles and two passes batted. Against Texas A&M, he dominated with a huge performance, totaling 3.5 sacks. Alabama is not a program that hits the junior-college ranks hard, but Buggs was an exception, and he surprisingly won a starting spot right away at Alabama. In 2017, Buggs had 51 tackles with four tackles for a loss and 1.5 sacks. Buggs looks improved after gaining year of experience in the SEC and is taking advantage of a lot of good blocking looks with Raekwon Davis and Quinnen Williams drawing attention next to him. TBL 2019 NFL Mock Draft 3.0 (18. Detroit – Dre’Mont Jones, DT, Ohio State. The Lions have the worst run defense in the NFL and just traded for DT Damon Harrison. Jachai Polite, DE, Florida. Polite has the freakish combination of burst and bend to the quarterback, the best in this class outside of Bosa. The Lions would need to address the edge-rusher spot if Ziggy Ansah isn't brought back this offseason.) Walter Football 2019 NFL Mock Draft (Detroit Lions: Josh Allen, LB, Kentucky:  I've had the Lions drafting a defensive lineman for the longest time, but they just dealt for Snacks Harrison. You can see my thoughts on the move in my NFL Trade Grades page. Now, Detroit can focus on improving its atrocious linebacking corps and secondary.   Josh Allen has great size, speed and athleticism, and he also has the versatility to play multiple positions. He's compared to as a hybrid of Leonard Floyd and Zach Cunningham, as he can play in coverage and also rush the quarterback effectively on the edge.  49.  Winovich:  The Lions don't really have much of an edge threat outside of Ziggy Ansah, who barely plays. They'll need to upgrade this area during the 2019 offseason.  Chase Winovich has incredible speed off the edge. He dominated Notre Dame in the 2018 opener.) PFW 2019 NFL mock draft 1.0 (18  Detroit Lions — Florida State DE Brian Burns -We might look back at Burns landing outside the top 10 and laugh. That’s the direction his stock is heading with a torrid recent streak rushing the passer. That’s the Lions’ biggest defensive shortcoming, depending on the 2019 status of Ziggy Ansah: edge pressure.
