2018 NFL rookie rankings through Week 7 (4. DA’SHAWN HAND, DI, DETROIT LIONS (PFF Overall Grade: 89.6): Hand currently ranks ninth out of 117 interior defenders who’ve seen at least 100 defensive snaps this season, and his 88.0 pass-rushing grade ranks fourth among the group. The fourth-round pick has been a consistent force among Detroit’s defensive line, earning overall grades of at least 77.6 in five of six games so far this season. Out of 139 interior defenders who’ve rushed the QB at least 25 times this season, the former Alabama star ranks 16th with an 11.7% pressure percentage, and he’s one of just three interior defenders to have recorded multiple strip sacks. 10. KERRYON JOHNSON, HB, DETROIT LIONS (PFF Overall Grade: 79.8): Johnson ranks fifth among HBs in terms of overall grade and he, like Barkley, is one of three running backs this season who rank within the top-10 in both rushing and receiving grade (Barkley has more than doubled Johnson’s snap count to date if you’re currently wondering why Barkley is ahead of him on this list). Out of the 41 running backs who’ve run the ball at least 50 times this season, Johnson is tied for ninth with a first down/touchdown rate of 25.0% and his average of 3.4 yards gained after contact is tied for seventh.): https://www.profootballfocus.com/news/pro-2018-nfl-rookie-rankings-through-week-7
NFL Secret Superstars – Week 7 (Da’Shawn Hand, DI, Detroit Lions (Week 7 Grade: 89.9): Rookie fourth-round pick Da’Shawn Hand has flown under the radar as one of the NFL’s top defenders through seven weeks, earning 77.0-plus single-game grades in five of his six games so far this season. And in Week 7, Hand took his strong start in the big leagues to the next level. Hand logged a career-high eight total pressures (all hurries) against the Miami Dolphins on Sunday, earning an elite 90.0 pass-rush grade in the process. He has now totaled 15 pressures in his 137 pass-rush snaps this season and ranks T-10th in pass-rush productivity (6.7) among qualifiers at his position. His 89.6 overall grade so far this season now leads all rookie defenders with 100-plus snaps on the year.): https://www.profootballfocus.com/news/pro-nfl-secret-superstars-week-7

Grades:
Walterfootball Grades (Lions acquire NT Snacks Harrison from Giants for 2019 5th-round pick: The Lions are in the playoff race, as they're just one game behind the Vikings. However, they really needed to improve their atrocious defense. They've struggled against both the run and the pass, but at least the former aspect will be helped by this trade. Snacks Harrison is a 350-pound run-stuffing nose tackle. He's excellent at what he does, as he's the primary reason why the Giants were so good at defending ground attacks this year. He'll help the Lions clamp down on the run when they battle Dalvin Cook/Latavius Murray, and his presence will be huge in other matchups. A fifth-round pick for him is well worth it, though the Lions still need to figure out how to improve their linebacking corps and secondary. The Giants, meanwhile, need to rebuild. Their season is over, so acquiring draft picks for veterans is the correct course of action. An extra fifth-round pick seems like fair compensation for Harrison. I love this trade for both teams. I'd say the Lions get the slight edge because Harrison could help put them over the top in a tight divisional race, but the Giants did a good job in helping their rebuilding efforts.
