With the Lions on a bye week now, Matt Patricia has his first opportunity as a head coach to take a deep breath and figure out what went right, what went south and what needs to change. Detroit Lions (2-3, LW: 24):  It hasn’t gotten enough attention as Le’Veon Bell, but defensive end Ezekiel Ansah is on a one-year franchise deal and has played just one game this season due to a shoulder injury. Reuters said that Lions coach Matt Patricia had to shoot down speculation that the prolonged absence is in any way related to his contract situation, saying Ansah simply isn’t ready to play. “Don’t make it anything more than that,” Patricia said, according to Reuters. “That guy’s a competitive guy, he wants to play football. He’s trying to do the best he can to help this team. So he’s day by day, we’re taking it day by day. We’re trying to get him ready to go. MLive Power Rankings (21. Lions:  The Lions' confusing season continued Sunday with a win over the Packers that they controlled from the start by was also aided by four missed kicks by Mason Crosby. That gives them wins over the Packers and Patriots and losses to the Jets, 49ers and Cowboys, the latter three of which have combined for two wins over anyone else. Detroit will head into the bye needing to heal up, particularly with Ezekiel Ansah and T.J. Lang. The talent is certainly there and the offense seems to be trending in the right direction, but Detroit still has a smaller margin for error with how much it struggles to stop the run.
