10 most intriguing picks from first round of NFL draft (OT Penei Sewell: No. 7 to Detroit Lions: The Oregon left tackle hasn't played football in more than a year because he opted out due to COVID-19 concerns. The last time we saw him, the 6-5, 331-pound Sewell was holding his own against some of the best pass-rushers in the country. He may have some rust to knock off, but once acclimated, he should be a force and a reliable blindside protector for Jared Goff.): https://www.usatoday.com/story/sports/nfl/draft/2021/04/30/nfl-draft-surprises-most-intriguing-picks-first-round-steelers-patriots/4881561001/
2021 NFL draft: Best, worst picks of the 1st round (BEST | OT Penei Sewell, Detroit Lions | No. 7 overall - Another team that probably would have traded down for the right price, the Lions stuck at their spot and made the smart pick, opting for the best tackle in an extremely deep class. Sewell has rare athletic ability for his size, and can play either guard or tackle. He was a steal outside the top five, and there could be at least a couple of teams that regret letting him get past them.): https://draftwire.usatoday.com/lists/2021-nfl-draft-best-worst-picks-1st-round-trevor-lawrence-justin-fields-mac-jones-kyle-pitts/

Athlonsports (7. Detroit Lions: Penei Sewell, OT, Oregon: Jared Goff was not a QB who dealt with pressure well and the Lions have had plenty of issues up front. Sewell helps in both areas and the Detroit gets a youngster just scratching the surface of what he can do. New coach Dan Campbell will love the Oregon product's competitiveness and the way he finishes blocks. In terms of being a safe pick, this is a pretty good one in the Motor City and one of the few you would feel comfortable in predicting will be an All-Pro for many years to come. 2021 NFL Draft:
2021 NFL Draft: Ideal Day 2 targets for every NFL team (DETROIT LIONS: WR TERRACE MARSHALL JR., LSU: Widely rumored to be one of the more likely trade-down candidates in the NFL, Detroit opted to stay put at No. 7 overall and add a blue-chip offensive line talent in Penei Sewell. They should have several options to continue adding to the offense toward the top of Round 2, namely at a wide receiver position where they lost their top three targets from last year’s team. Marshall was mentioned as one of the prospects whose medicals were flagged entering the 2021 NFL Draft, but he’s a first-round talent if healthy. He is one of the most physically gifted receivers in this class with an ideal blend of size and speed to play outside. The Lions need to continue to add to a receiving corps that is currently led by free agent signings Breshad Perriman and Tyrell Williams.): https://www.pff.com/news/draft-landing-spots-day-2-2021-nfl-draft-round-2-round-3
